  1. I’ve thought of this for a while now and came to a realization that no matter the cost, you get this guy. AP is in his prime, a bonafide number one right shot defenceman and is worth it. I don’t care what picks or prospects, even one of Hogs or Pods, that we have to give up to clear the cap space a la LE / Sutter / Rousell dumps. I’m glad we didn’t try for EK as that guy really sucks in the defensive zone. AP is the complete package.
  2. I hope this guy is ready for next season. We need him and OJ to step up here. Our cap situation is too tight to land land big names like Pietrangelo, Eckblad, Barrie or Dumba. Be nice for some ELCs onto the team to get Marky, Toffoli and Tanev to return.
  3. All kidding aside, we are ever so lucky to have an owner willing to pay to the Cap ceiling.
  4. I heard this on 650 too. Looked him up and has a substantial salary and points aren’t that great. Haven’t followed him much. Is he that good? Does he throw his weight around? Can he fight? Would he be better here?
  5. Doesn’t matter. He is as good as gone. Trade bait for sure. JB already called him out for not performing as well as he should have (which was a bit foolish for trade marketability). Canuck Prioritization: Marky Toffoli Tanev
  6. A first and Lind would be the very least. Your first idea of Lind alone would be a joke. Stop acting so confused when it would have to take a Hogs or Pods.
  7. Yay but not even Seattle is that dumb to take him. We have to package this idiot with a high level prospect or maybe even next years first to get rid of him. It’s annoying how this cancer will not go away...
  8. No thanks. We don’t need this 37 year old. He has nothing left. He should retire. Rather keep Sutter if there was a choice one or the other.
  9. I am good with Myers over Dumba. Myers has that rare ability to poke check and break plays easily with his long reach. His size also is good for shot blocking and taking down big forwards crashing the net.
  10. I agree. Barrie didn’t seem all that good in Toronto. He had way too much hype before going there.
  11. Quite a few folks here saying it’s doable to get him here. JB would have to be making a lot of moves. Too many things have to go right. I’m not against it...
  12. Franchise values mean nothing if you’re not selling. Revenue has been drastically cut from the owners pockets yet they are still on the hook for all these million dollar salaries. It will be interesting who will be “bucking up” during free agency. Some of those teams with cap space will not be in play due to being so heavily in the red. We are lucky in Vancouver as FA seems more of a fan than a businessman, lol.
  13. Not so sure about that. Looks like talks not looking good in St Louis. You got to also understand some owners, cap or no cap, are bleeding out money because of Covid. Perhaps their owners simply can’t afford anymore salary.
  14. Would be a gem in a Canucks uniform. Too bad we have no cap space for the guy.
  15. https://www.thescore.com/nhl/news/2020947 Pending unrestricted free agent Alex Pietrangelo is starting to feel the pressure when it comes to which team he'll play for next season. "It's been a little disappointing that (the St. Louis Blues and I) haven't been able to get a deal done, obviously," Pietrangelo said, according to The Athletic's Pierre LeBrun. "But this is the situation that we're in, we're over three weeks away from Oct. 9 (the beginning of free agency). ... There hasn't been much in terms of progress." The 30-year-old signed a seven-year deal with the Blues in 2013 and has spent his entire career with the club that drafted him fourth overall in 2008. He's served as St. Louis' captain for four seasons. Pietrangelo will be one of the biggest names in free agency if he hits the open market. He expressed his desire to stay in St. Louis but understands it may be difficult for the team to make room for him with just over $5 million in cap space this season. "Yeah, I mean, there's players who have been in one spot their whole career but they change cities," Pietrangelo said. "I've been in the business a long time. I've been around. I've seen a lot of different things. I think you have to be willing to accept the fact that there may be a change one day. Whether it happens or not, it certainly changes your mindset and makes things a little easier if you ever get to that point." He added: "My wife's family is here. We're really close to her family and my family is close with her family. But again, by the same token, it's a short period of time of your life in terms of trying to play the game. You just want to make the right choice for your family and do what's right." Pietrangelo put up 16 goals and 52 points in 70 games during the 2019-20 regular season after helping lead the Blues to a Stanley Cup victory last year.
  16. A compromise like a 10 team no trade list could make him feel more at ease.
  17. Looks like it’s a sure thing. Both JB and Toffoli said they want it. I think they both realize though it has to wait till the Marky situation is resolved. Marky is the first priority.
  18. I say we have him signed at 5, Marky at 5.5 and Tanev at 5.
  19. They are taking about this in 650. Looks like a verbal agreement. They saying 5X5. How would this apply to Marky? Marky is not exactly a young guy and appears to want to stay. 5.5M X 4 years? I’m ok with that.
  20. I sure hope so bud. That would be awful otherwise but also understandable. I can’t imagine how tough it would be away from your families from new born a to sick dads and dying relatives. If the NHL wants a full season next year, they have rocks in their head. This bubble would need to be expanded to include their families at the very least.
  21. Toffoli looks like he wants to stay and I would love to keep him... https://www.thescore.com/nhl/news/2018840 Pending unrestricted free-agent forward Tyler Toffoli hopes he can stick with the up-and-coming Vancouver Canucks on a new contract. "I want to talk to (general manager) Jim (Benning) and see where he's at and where the team's at because that's priority No. 1 right now. ... I want to stay in Vancouver," Toffoli said Friday, according to Sportsnet's Brendan Batchelor. The Canucks acquired Toffoli from the Los Angeles Kings prior to February's trade deadline. The 28-year-old winger was an immediate fit in Vancouver's top six, notching 10 points in 10 games prior to the pause and adding four points in seven postseason contests. Toffoli has carried a $4.6-million cap hit for each of the past three seasons. The Canucks are projected to have about $14.3 million in available money this offseason, according to CapFriendly, but the team has plenty of key free agents in addition to Toffoli; goaltender Jacob Markstrom and defenseman Chris Tanev are both set to become UFAs, and forward Jake Virtanenwill be a restricted free agent. Vancouver knocked off the Minnesota Wild in the qualifying round of the postseason to make the playoffs for the first time since 2016. The Canucks then ousted the defending champion St. Louis Blues in the Western Conference quarterfinals before falling to the Vegas Golden Knights in seven games in Round 2.
  22. I can’t stand 1040, especially Matt Sekeres. Hate the sound of his whiny and heavy breathing voice. That guys annoys me way too much.
  23. Don’t know much about Nylander but it was a counter to the point that the picks after Jake were all duds...I’ll take ur word Re Nylander being a coward.
