Jim Rutherford Interview with Pittsburgh beat writer

JR and BB are both really old seniors. This Canuck team will send them both to an early grave. I know for a fact that this team has cost many of us fans several years off our lives as well! -

(Rumour) 4 teams interested in J.T. Miller

Miller, although he struggled most of this season, is well known throughout the league and has an excellent body of work. I imagine a lot of teams, not just 4 are interested. When, not if JT regains his form, 8M per will be a sweetheart of a deal. As a big Miller fan, the only way I promote this is if we gut the team and go full rebuild. I prefer to keep him if they don’t. I’m sure other Miller fans here will feel the same. -
Meh, I think we should save our buyout for OEL. Either that or retain and trade. It’s our weakest position and he hursts us more (Myers is an easy trade after his bonus). Garland can and has the ability to step it up. When Bo is gone I expect Garland to get better ice time and linemates to be his old self.

I don’t trust the draft lottery. Bettman has his favourites, Vancouver is not one of them. Notice how the selection is made is no longer televised? Someone mentioned a third party oversight hired by the NHL, but do you really trust that too?

As much as I want a tank at this point, when it’s game time I can not cheer against my team. I will always want that win and want them all to do well, regardless of it being counterproductive. It’s just the way I am…. -

I get that they are trying to maximize trade value. I mentioned that. I’m more concerned about getting a better draft pick in this draft. The longer this goes, there is the potential we go up in the standings. Cut the knees from the team and it will bottom out more. Bo and Schenn are both key players that are not only tradeable but they are big pieces to this year’s success (when we actually win a game). -

If Bo and Schenn were traded sooner than later, this team would surely sink further down the standings for a better draft pick. Management has got to realize that is the priority now, more so than the return being maximized. It will be too late by the TDL. Get a good return and don’t expect anything over the moon. I’m hearing a top 5 pick in this draft hasn’t been this stacked in many years and if we sink down to the bottom 5, our odds at the 1OA become a lot higher. -

If ownership ponies up, buyout OEL or retain 3M on a trade. Give Myers his bonus at the end of the year and trade his 1M salary to a bottom team. This opens the door to two new young top 4 defenders to join our team. One of which should be attained from a Bo trade. Maybe we luck out where Schenn plus can get us the other good young defender. -

I have to say this is the worst collection defenders we’ve ever had. The ironic thing is that at the same time Hughes is the best defenceman we have ever had.
