  1. Take a look at Jimmy Vesey for a comparable. 1.3-1.56 ppg in his junior and senior years. He is so far only producing at 30 points a season. I expect Gaudette to be a 30 point guy in his first whole season and maybe he'll reach 50 points in his prime.
  2. Assuming he doesn't make the NHL next year, what would be best for his development? AHL or another season of SHL? I'm not sure that AHL is best. Yes, he will be able to adjust to playing the North American ice but if he's an elite talent like he is projected to be, that won't be a problem when he makes the jump to the NHL. In my opinion, keep him where he's comfortable, where he can continue to develop his hockey IQ, and play with a winning team. It didn't ruin Forsberg to jump straight to the NHL from SHL and in fact he became arguably the best swedish player ever. Let him dominate again and break some records in the process, get the feeling of what it feels like to be the best player in the SHL for a couple seasons. His confidence will be sky high when he starts in the NHL.
  3. Looked on eliteprospects and noticed that Miro Heiskanen is injured...wonder how long that might be.
  4. Even Peter Forsberg didn't challenge till his D+2. Not sure there are any others that came close.
  5. I'm also gonna disagree with you here. Look at Edmonton who for years had #1 overall picks. They screwed almost every single one over...just goes to show you that you can have all the talent in the world but if you don't put them in a position to succeed they will fail immensely. Notice once those players moved out of Edmonton they are now all doing much better? Let's not even talk about hockey, it applies to almost all things....school, individual sports, other team sports. If you are put in a position where frustration builds up and stress takes over you will be too focused on doing enough to get by and lose motivation to succeed. If however your put in a situation where your confidence continues to build, where your in a position to succeed you will find the motivation to keep trying harder and harder.
  6. I guess he'll just have to settle for top 10 in all-time SHL scoring, and an olympic gold medal...
  7. At this scoring pace he will be on track to be in top 5 of SHL ALL-TIME regular season scoring....at any age.
  8. I literally watched that highlight over and over for a good two minutes with my jaw dropping on the floor
  9. His shot totals/per game will translate well to the NHL....usually a very good indicator of success. I think he will be a good serviceable player for us in the future.
  10. I totally agree as well. While everyone would like to see Pettersson up with the big club and he may probably be good enough, I think it's best for his development to develop chemistry with the young guys in Utica, if not for a full season than quarter to half season. This way he can at least acclimatize to North American ice and get significant icetime. There's no way he gets 17 min a game unless he's absolutely dominating the NHL level but he'll get 18+ down in Utica.
  11. Definitely the 100 point guy. Anyone who gets 65 points in this league will most likely command 6-7 mill salary. 100 point guy will command 10 mill salary unless you got him at a discount. Usually the generational guys MAKE the 65 point or 80 point guys too so if those guys get too pricey just swap them out with someone else. Look at Patrick maroon with edmonton.
  12. Amazing night points wise but if you watch the video above you realize how much of a floater he is with almost no defensive responsibilities. Something he's gonna have to work on a lot I think.
  13. From a leverage point of view I think you'll be fine. My main worry for you is that your in the trades which would be hit particularly hard if a recession ever hit BC. My advice is make sure you save a rainy day fund that will cover at least six months of mortgage payments should you get laid off.
  14. After watching video highlights of Lind and Gadjovich, I just want to point out that we now have three goalscorers who are willing to go into the dirty areas to score goals. Dahlen, and the aforementioned two. I am super excited about this cause we have two snipers in Virtanen and Boeser forming some possible line combos. Dahlen - Pettersson - Virtanen (Instant Chemistry with the swedes while Virtanen provides the grit. Also could benefit from having a strong playmaker in Pettersson) Boeser - Horvat - Lind/Gadjovich (Boeser - Horvat would make a strong duo with defensive responsibility and either Lind or Gadjovich scoring those greasy goals) I'm hoping the Canucks get away from players like Goldobin, who may fill a good temporary role, but just not sure if they can perform in the playoffs.
  15. Only basing on stats but he's already better than Lucic was in his draft + 1 year (which is probably more comparable considering Gadjovich is a early birthday and Lucic was a later birthday)
  16. While I completely respect his decision to remain at home and stay in the high school league, I'm not sure this will help his development and would theoretically hinder it. It definitely shows his commitment to family and he has a good head on his shoulders so I'm hoping that will help him but not looking good from a draft pick already considered a long-shot to make the NHL.
  17. Just as a comparison to Cale Makar on a purely statistical analysis, Mason Raymond is one person who most of know about as a former canuck. He played in the AJHL with the Camrose Kodiaks and in his draft year was drafted 2nd round 51st overall. 2004-2005 AJHL 55GP 41G 41A 82P Playoffs 15GP 8G 12A 20P By comparison Cale Makar 54GP 24G 51A 75P Playoffs 13GP 5G 11A 16P So I would say that from a points perspective he is pretty on par with Mason Raymond (slightly behind) which is made much more impressive when you consider that Raymond is a winger, who probably had no defensive responsibilities. If this is any indication we should expect 40-50 points from Makar in the NHL in his prime...maybe more if he develops well.
  18. I'm not sold on Vilardi. Sure he is a hard worker and he has great advanced stats according to the articles but his actual production leaves a lot to be desired. For a big man you would expect his production to be far higher. The fact he is already working his butt off and hasn't produced at a higher level imo limits his ceiling. If your looking for a good third liner then I'm sure Vilardi fits the bill. I'm just not sure he will amount to more than that. As for Liljegren that article has a lot of good points. Everyone makes mistakes so I hope they are not nitpicking but if his decision making is as bad as they say, I feel that for a defenseman, that is the hardest thing to improve because it will only get harder for him as he moves up the ranks and he may lose confidence or receive less playing time before he has time to improve those thought processes. I say pass on him.
  19. If I had a guess I'd say he'll probably take a few more years before he breaks out for 30 points. Just playing defensively sound right now, getting the hang of the NHL. Once he's more established he'll start taking more chances and generating more offence.
  20. Watched most of this game, and I have to agree that coach isn't putting Juolevi out there much. Also watching the other D and forwards this is a really bad finnish team. Can't finish passes, too many preventable icing calls, forwards are too passive and can't stand up to the swedish D. If anything, juolevi has been one of the better D but just not playing enough.
  21. Seems like if Nico Hischier can keep up this pace and possibly improve on it he'll be in the same draft vicinity as Ehlers was (maybe higher since it's not as strong a draft).
  22. Expose Eriksson...even if he has an amazing season it'll most likely be because of the twins and it's not like he's getting any younger plus being paid 1st line salary. Bit of a risk but could be the right choice if Rodin and Gaunce have good seasons for us.
  23. I think one must also see that it's not all about the points either. Juolevi is able to turn the puck around with a quick transition creating scoring opportunities and as Benning stated (quoted from Brent Sutter), "Juolevi is impossible to forecheck" because he just grabs the puck and it's in the forwards hands before the checking forwards know what to do. I project him to be a 30-35 point (5 goal 30 assist) D in his prime but if he can do better that'd be great.
  24. Haha totally. I looked up the picks and the seasons they are having and they don't look impressive at all.
  25. I believe he's also been on a 3 game point streak with 2 g 3 a since being sent down. No idea if he is playing wing or centre
