If he's serious about staying in Vancouver that's his best option, or face the reality of being dealt if Demko is truly his successor.
And yet again cap isn't a dire issue but fill your boots wrongly crying over it.
1. If Markstrom signs a 1 year extension he is not expansion draft eligible as his contract expires.
2. our cap space now is IRRELEVANT to 2 years from now when Hughes and Pettersson elc’s are up. Multiple deals AND Luongo recapture comes off the books, and Cap is expected to significantly go up in 2 seasons when the new TV deal is done. Non issue.
It's his 3rd season back and our PP has lacked creativity for 3 seasons so yes, it is fair to single him out. This is the third season of this garbage now, time to move on.
Again, wrong.
Markstrom can be re-signed without having expansion draft repercussions or signed and traded at the deadline NEXT year. No rush.
Tanev is still valueable to the team and discussing further with you is useless as you're clearly biased against him.
Stecher is not a plug, and if he was he would have literally no value. That said he could be move on from IF someone on our depth chart surpasses him organically. He can be signed to a 1 year show me deal as well and avoid expansion draft protection.
We’re not in anywhere near the long term cap trouble you seem to think we’re in.
Players aren't. Stupid they know the expansion draft is coming could even sign Markstrom to a 1 year extension making him exempt from the draft then sign him to term after...
Stecher’s raise won't be that crazy and Tanev’s is manageable and deserved.
Schaller, Leivo, Motte, and Fantenberg next year,
Pearson, Sutter, Baertschi, Benn, Luongo recapture in 2 years.
Absolutely no reason to not re-sign our starting goalie, and 2 solid dmen for non existent cap issues...
