Baertschi is not going to play on the 4th line so Schaller is irrelevant wadr
Eriksson is useful both defensively and on the PK. So he edges out Baer there whether you like it or not.
If Baertschi is going to miss 1/2-2/3 of the season anyway how is his loss so bad that you have to split hairs and make ridiculous scenarios to justify him having a spot on the roster. And that is without even considering the coach feeling he had a lacklustre training camp.
Since your someone hoping for the team to fail as mentioned earlier in the thread your opinion is irrelevant.
I'm not saying Schaller is the better player, he IS better suited as a 4th liner period.
Games missed do in fact matter because actual production>>>>>>>>potential production.
It was a bad comparison, a better comparison would have been a top 9 forward who struggled with multiple injuries then stayed healthy, not a generational superstar wadr.
Leivo 24 pts
Eriksson 29 pts
Schaller 10 pts can hit and fight, one full year removed from major hand injury now, Schaller is a better 4th line option period don't even know why this needs further explanation.
vs
Baertschi 14 pts 56 games missed
Omg seriously you don't get it. Baertschi has not played a full season McDavid has. One is a generational talent the other is a borderline top 9 forward/tweener. Baertschi has also never scored more than 35 points and only hit 35 once. Wadr that McDavid comparison is reeeeeeeeeeallly reaching.
I never said it was or had to be a checking line, Leivo provided 5 more actual goals than Baertschi last season. Leivo has the size and health edge as well and Schaller will be the 4th line/13th forward.
That is a lot of what ifs to base on to make room for a player who has never played a full season. The fact that we have enough depth to push a borderline top 6 forward in Baertschi out of the lineup is fantastic.
Simple
Miller>Baer
Ferland>Baer
Pearson>Baer
equals no more open spots. And one of those three will be playing on their offside and imo better suited for that than Baer as well.
I agree with the lack of discipline on the Baertschi hit, same with Tierney on Boeser both should have at least been looked at. As a whole Parros has done a fairly solid job with a few misses.
Had Baertschi played a full season before I'd agree with you but with Gaudette’s play and the three I mentioned he just ended up drawing the short straw. It's not as big of a deal anymore as what is being made of it on here wadr.
