Sutter, McCann and Horvat already have secured the 3 Center positions, so where does he fit? if he is going to be a career fourth liner, then we should trade him honestly if his market is there look at dealing him for a prospect Defence or a skilled LW prospect because although, Cassels is struggling he can too be a 4th line center.

I have my early doubts about Benning and for good reason, that's all im saying lets see how he does on judgement day (trade deadline)

Benning is going to show him how to become a good hockey player by showing videos and keeping him as a project;whereas, in the juniors he will only get lots of ice time and have a actual chance to develop some hockeyiq, but Benning believes he can help with hockey iq. The bottom line, Jake is going no where in the NHL with his hockey iq, he needs to learn to think the game better so whats Benning's plan? You can't just send him down, you will literally crush his confidence. The best way to do it is let him screw up in a game and then send him down. I would give him a chance to redeem himself, and think of his mental mind-set, at-least guys like Burrows, Higgins or Prust can tell him, "its okay kid" whereas, in the juniors he might be hearing it, since they are kids. I think Benning shouldn't send him down directly, but wait and see what he brings. Who knows and yes this is my inner homer speaking, maybe he rips it up and overcomes adversity. Also, a guy like Willie can help him out at a time like this, sending him down directly won't be smart. Let him mess up and then send him down. edit, and one more thing those two penalties which one of those are actually called in the NHL? first one was a puck battle and second was a slash were the player just dropped his stick give me a break.

Go to any canadian team board and Jake's getting ripped. Virtanen has lots to prove, wouldn't be surprised if Don Cherry rips him too on coaches corner. My question is has there ever been a player that played so poorly for Canada, and still became a top 6 after? Because normally the players who have the "IT" factor show something. Virtanen is years away from the nhl, I wonder what Willie and Benning thought after watching his play.

Virtanen is like 3 years away and so is Boeser. So finally those veterans retire and then its a coin flip. So either Benning strikes gold or he fails and if he fails then we are rebuilding for another 4 so yeah 7 years. Virtanen has to work out but give him 3 years rite now he looks like a weaker version of Dorsett. THANK YOU Dorsett for mentoring our young guys! UGH!

wouldn't say he was totally invisible, he made some decent plays and had some chances; also, ended with a assist so yeah he wasn't as noticeable maybe but you can't say invisible that's reserved for Higgins and Burrows.

I liked Jake's game in the third. He showed what he can be, eg a power forward, started driving the play and started becoming a threat. Also showed some stick handling with his hands, something I never seen him do on the Canucks' I remember when McCann first came on the Canucks' he would dangle with stick and try risky plays but the more Willie and coaching staff has got on to them it seems he has gotten away from his dangling. Same thing with Virtanen, in order to be successfull in the NHL he needs to play with more skill and not like a clown like PRUST or Dorsett. We need him to be a skilled guy not a future Dorsett, so todays game in the 3rd he started showing me something special with his drive and speed and I hope if he does come back to Canucks' he sticks to that style not the Dorsett and Prust garbage style. I liked his 3rd period lots lets see if he can keep up that momentum. Even Gord Miller started to say "Virtanen, Virtanen with the puck" that was nice finally something now keep it up Virt.

at this rate can he just get a couple of decent shots on goal and I will be fine with that.

He needs to work on his passing, his passing is almost always a rocket pass that the player can't control.
