  1. @Coconuts That was worth more than 2 cents,my friend.... Go nuts....
  2. Personally, I wouldn't bother....I'd just ask @smithers joe what it was like....
  3. Roger, Roger.... When you were working there, were you over Unger or under Dunn? PS: I think Kareem gets best supporting actor, if not for the scene stealing of Robert Stack in that movie...

I think Dak was in, but I didn't see any proof in the replays....
  5. Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, who is not only one of the most intelligent athletes ever, but one of the most intelligent people, says that the NBA should mandate the vaccine for all players, coaches and staff....Those who refuse should have to find another line of work....
  6. In the "even a blind squirrel will occasionally find a nut" department, Donald Trump said something this weekend that was absolutely correct.... We all remember how upset Bone Spurs was at Georgia Governor Brian Kemp for not going along with his attempts to overturn the state's results in 2020 election....It appears that he's still a tad miffed, (quelle surprise) so much so that he told attendees at the rally the Stacey Abrams would make a better Governor than Kemp.... https://www.cnn.com/2021/09/27/politics/donald-trump-brian-kemp-stacey-abrams/index.html Not only was that correct, but I'd opine that Abrams would be a better governor than the other 49 as well.... It just goes to show that even an absolute moron can say something intelligent occasionally, even if it is by accident.....
  7. A story that's somewhat flying under the radar is the impending Senate showdown over the debt ceiling....Mitch McConnell is already on record, stating the the GOP will not vote for raising it. In a nutshell, raising the debt ceiling allows the US to pay their bills. Bills, BTW, that were accrued under both Republican and Democrat administrations. (Tax cuts, anyone? Covid Relief?) But now, Moscow Mitch seems only too happy to leave the Democrats holding the bag. Now, we're all used to McConnell giving zero f**ks about anything other than power, so it's not particularly surprising that he seems to be willing to tank the US economy, risk a recession and permanently damage the standing of the US dollar as a global standard for currencies, just to make the Biden administration look bad, supposedly leading to the GOP retaking the House and Senate in 2022. In a country where logic prevails, it would be painfully obvious that the Repugs are sabotaging their own country, just so they can appear as the saviors, (kind of a Munchausen by proxy on a national scale) but unfortunately, we now live in a world where facts play second fiddle to feelings.... For a more detailed explanation of the debt ceiling, click the link: https://www.msn.com/en-ca/money/markets/mcconnells-senate-gop-is-about-to-vote-for-a-us-default-heres-what-the-debt-ceiling-is-and-why-its-so-dangerous/ar-AAOFPDM?li=AAggFp5
  8. They don't even care what anyone thinks....just throw out some BS reason, even though it's completely obvious that they're lying. Now lets see if they rescind that death penalty on Robert Schellenberg....

Long time Bills fan here. I can't tell you how nice it is to have a team that looks like a contender after so many years on the outside looking in.... Funny thing is, I was always kind if indifferent to the Browns......until they drafted Baker Mayfield. I've been an Oklahoma Sooners fan even longer than I've been a Bills fan, so now I cheer for both Mayfield and Kyler Murray. I even cheer for the Eagles, now that it looks like Jalen Hurts is their starter....

It was....except of course, if you're a Lions fan....
  11. I think people look at social progress as just that....a smooth progression towards a better society. Myself, I see it more as a series of "two steps forward and one step back" progressions. The overall effect is that society slowly moves forward, but not without speed bumps along the way... I agree that the current geopolitical state likely qualifies as a "step backwards", but I also believe that progress cannot be denied, no matter how much the people in power would have it so....
  12. More evidence of this in tonight's game.... In the 7th, the Yankees have runners on 2nd and 3rd with Aaron Judge at bat....Adam Ottavino strikes Judge out....except that it was a foul tip that Christian Vazquez drops....Judge gets another chance and takes advantage, hitting a 2 run double.... But the Vazquez drop was obviously on the transfer. Zero doubt about it, but some some reason, the Red Sox don't challenge....

So it appears that the 66 yarder by Justin Tucker should never have happened. I just watched a replay of the previous play, where Jackson threw the ball away to avoid taking a possible stack....problem was, the snap of the ball occurred at least 2 seconds after the play clock had expired.... It should have been a delay of game call, which would have taken the Ravens out of field goal range....even for JT....
  14. Yep. It began with a poster describing his move from the NDP to the PPC as if that were some kind of natural progression...... Then, when other posters predictably stated what a bizarre ideological shift that is, he attempted to back it up with an alleged POLI SCI degree from UVIC.... From there (with apologies to Paul McCartney) it's been a long and winding road to the current lamenting of the evils of extramarital fornication.....TBH, I've been anticipating the obligatory "Hell in a handbasket" for several pages now....
  15. Yep. It's all about "the sanctity of life"......at least until the baby leaves the womb....after that, it's Capital Punishment and School shootings.....
  16. BTW: It was nice to see the Jays get back in the win column last night, but the W overshadowed a couple of brutal baserunning mistakes. First, Grichuk, tries to stretch a double into a triple and makes the third out at 3rd base.....and then a couple innings later, George Springer is still standing on 3rd after Vladdy hits into a double play. I'm not sure if that's on Springer or Luis Rivera, but both blunders are absolutely inexcusable in the midst of a Wild Card race....
  17. What worries me a bit more that that is the fact that the Rays have clinched and knowing what I do about them, I could see them fielding the "B" team in the final series against the Yanks. The fact that there's now bad blood between the teams just reinforces that worry....
  18. I'm here to eat a little crow today.... This season, I've been critical of White in the striker's position and over the past several seasons I've been critical of Teibert. (I love his compete level. I've just always thought that he lacked the skill to go along with it) But....last night's goal was a thing of beauty from both of them.... Also: Props to Max for saving the penalty, but it was a really poor effort from Jara.....and Metcalfe....WTF?
  19. Talk about snatching defeat from the jaws of victory..... I hate to rag on the guys, because they've both been good, but the kicking game caused that loss.... A 43 yard FG in a game like that has to be made. If Camacho makes it, the game is out of reach. However, sometimes your job as a player is to pick up your teammates and a 26 yard punt is anything but....
  20. 100 years from now, people will look back and shake their heads at the fact that abortions were ever necessary. Much like we now view Trepanning and Leeching... In 100 years, the decision to have children will be 100% voluntary, because science will have found a way to prevent contraception, unless specifically desired by the woman. This sort of medical advancement will be possible because the influence of religion on Government and Health policy will be a thing of the past, to the benefit of society as a whole... BTW: I stopped by here yesterday and I see that "Killing babies" has now become the new "Biden is addled". Just so you know, it sounds every bit as dumb, especially considering the liberal interspersing of strawmen, like "Why are we okay with killing babies?"
  21. This is kind of what I've been wondering since this thread started down this particular road.... On the one hand, it's all "Freedom"....freedom to not wear masks....freedom to not get vaccinated....freedom to go to gyms, churches and restaurants in the middle of a raging pandemic...freedom to possess as many firearms as you want (and of whatever type)....freedom to deny service to gay people.... ....but freedom for two consenting adults to have sex out of wedlock? Cut that sh!t out....
  22. Yeah, and I'm pissed about it.... ....back to selling single cigarettes and DVDs that haven't come out yet, I guess.....
  23. I actually expect the Chinese to be more competitive than most people...look at how they do in curling now....they just decided to be competitive and made it happen.... When you have over a billion people and an unlimited budget, I think you can make a lot of things happen and I suspect they started thinking about it as soon as they were awarded the games. I don't expect them to challenge the top tier teams like Canada, Russia and the US, but I think they might surprise teams like France, Denmark, Italy, etc....
  24. How can they ban Rudy? Don't they know there's a movie in the works about Rudy's life? It's called "A Man for 4 Seasons".....
  25. Saw this online today: I can't verify it, but I don't doubt that it's true. There's something that all those states have in common.....I just can't put my finger on what it is....
