  1. Exactly....and they didn't have Ivermectin and vitamin D supplements back then, either.......
  2. A lot of people are saying that Travis Green "didn't coach", but TBH, I think the opposite might be true and therein lies the problem... I've stated before in several threads about several coaches, that the hallmark of a successful coach is recognizing the strengths and weaknesses of his players individually and treating them accordingly. You have players on the roster like Petey, Hughes, Miller and Boeser who need to be given free reign in order to be successful, while other players might need some structure to their game. I would put a guy like Hogs in that camp. As talented as he is offensively, he can get pretty loose out there sometimes.... According to everything I've read since the coaching change, the big difference between BB and Travis is that Boudreau is more apt to let his horses run, while Travis wanted to try and "fix" things, by clamping down defensively. Which is understandable. When you start the first couple of months with a defense that looks like it's made of of 6 Michel Petits, it's counterintuitive to give your players more "freedom", but it appears as though that is what Boudreau has done.....and it's working. The newfound confidence showed in Myers and Poolman have shored up enough of the defensive lapses and the top offensive guys are slowly getting their mojo back. In a nutshell, Green was over-coaching. While it might have been prudent to add structure to the games of some of the younger guys like Hogs, Podz and Burroughs, a "one size fits all" approach did nothing but stifle the offensive guys and ensure that 4-3 losses became 3-2, or 2-1 losses.
  3. Skating ability can cover up a lot of other deficiencies.....and with the possible exception of McDavid, Hughes might be the best pure skater in the league. It's what makes up for his lack of size and strength. But skating alone isn't enough. (Think Keith Ballard and Bret Hedican) You have to have the vision to go along with it and QH has that in spades, as he showed last night with that feed to Podz....
  4. Not to minimize what the Canucks have done under BB, it's been great.... ....but I swear the Hockey Gods are back in our corner now as well....back when Travis was coaching, that post by the Jackets would have been post and in and that save by Jaro at the end would have found a way through. Either Boudreau has some serious karma credit, of Travis and JB angered the HG somehow....(probably for drafting OJ instead of Tkachuk or McAvoy) Anyway, it's nice to see things swing our way after watching the boys lead the Universe in goal posts for the first couple of months of the season....
  5. I know and it bothers me.... My mom lives in Kelowna. Just turned 88 and has had several health issues over the past decade or so. She's double vaxxed and (I think) booked for a booster, but I still worry.
  6. IIRC, Boudrias lives in the South Kottenays (Catlegar - Nelson area) I don't know what the general attitude is there, but up here on the North Coast, we might as well be in Berlin....you can't enter any public place without a mask. Almost 2 years in, I've yet to see anyone here defy a mask mandate.
  7. That's a good point. Also a good point is that the science has changed since 1791, when the 2nd Amendment was ratified. Back then, it took a minute and a half to shoot more than one round. Yet, gun owners still consider that to be settled law....
  8. ...and it's not so much that the two "rights" are equivalent....it's the method used by the two states (only proposed so far in Cali) to sidestep the attempts of interested parties to take their respective causes to the courts. The Texas law was a clear attempt by the legislature to make it impossible (or extremely difficult) for abortion providers to sue to overturn a law that clearly contravenes Roe v Wade. (which, incidentally both Kavanaugh and Coney Barrett lied about respecting as settled law, during their respective confirmation hearings) What Newsome is advocating here is using that same method in California to get around what gun proponents see as their rights.
  9. Well they haven't officially drafted it yet, but I'm hoping for the "FU Texas Religious Bigots" Law.....
  10. Of course the company is denying this shameful behavior.... I really hope one of the employees that were denied permission to leave thought to record the conversation.....
  11. Hmm....sounds like someone is too young to remember Montreal '76....
  12. Fun fact: when he got the passenger to their destination, he used to throw them out the passenger window.....
  13. Another little known historical fact is that George III refused to vaccinate British troops because he heard Robert Morris was using the vaccine to implant microchips designed to make British citizens drop the letter "U" from words like "honour" and "harbour"....
  14. Just read a headline that said Anthony Fauci didn't expect the Covid 19 pandemic to last two years....which is completely understandable. As a medical professional, he couldn't have expected the stupidity of almost 30% of Americans who refuse to take the vaccine.... ....of course we all know that on Faux News (and the rest of the Right wing media) the consensus will be "Fauci doesn't know what he's talking about!"
  15. That's pretty deep, Alf.... ....I'm guessing you've been on a few "journeys" lately?
  16. TBH Alf, I hate the Habs and Flames more than I hate the Leafs, but I know I'm in the minority....
  17. A Canuck fans worst nightmare....HNIC showing the Leafs and Blackhawks...and we all know that it isn't possible for both teams to lose.... Luckily, Habs-Blues is on the alternate feed...
  18. We don't live in the US, where this sort of thing is protected as "free speech". IMO, this is akin to threatening violence. Arrest every one of this asshats and let them know what it really feels like to lose your freedom....
  19. I'm actually a bit surprised that Dole's family didn't tell him to eff off....much like the McCain family told Bone Spurs and Sarah Palin to stay away....
  20. Just terrible news, especially so close to the holidays. (not that there's ever a good time for something like this)
  21. I will say one thing I've noticed though (and it's nothing to do with either of these players).... What's up with all the guys falling down for no particular reason? Maybe they should fire the skate sharpener next?
  22. There's nothing "to do" with either of them. Dickinson has had a slow start to the season, but that's a pretty common trait among the players on the team. He's been picking it up lately. Pearson is fine.
