Not only that, but I don't have any confidence that Canadian athletes will be safe in China. Just today, a Chinese official made the claim that Kovrig and Spavor "confessed to crimes" before their release. This basically tells me there is no lie they won't tell and no low they won't sink to..... https://www.ctvnews.ca/politics/china-envoy-says-kovrig-spavor-confessed-to-crimes-warns-against-rejecting-huawei-1.5702572

Honestly, it would have been way better if it was filled with Tsingtao...

Actually, hockey players are the ones that I would have the least amount of sympathy for...All of them make a very comfortable living and would be attending purely for the prestige that goes along with an Olympic medal. It's the Bobsledders and the Cross Country Skiers of the world that rely on the funding and sponsorship that comes with a strong Olympic performance every 4 years.

Seems to be a few people with this sentiment. i get it, but I wonder how everyone would feel if we went and ended up with bronze....or no medal at all. We can hang with anyone at forward and defense, but barring some sort of miraculous return to form by Carey Price, the US, Russia and Sweden all have superior goaltending....

I read an article the day after the trade about what a team friendly deal it was....The consensus seems to be that BB was very interested in getting back behind an NHL bench and is, in effect, "betting on himself" to earn a more lucrative deal before that contract runs out. If he can have this team at least playing meaningful games into the final month of the season, they'll likely be looking at extending him. Not to throw cold water on the general euphoria around here, but this sort of performance bump is very common with teams who have just changed coaches. The real test will be whether they are still playing winning hockey in a couple of weeks. I'm going to remain cautiously optimistic, (because I think this roster is far better than they've showed up to this point) but I gotta say, some of the comments I'm reading here are eerily reminiscent of the infamous, "John Tortarella: Best Canucks Coach Ever!" thread.... -

Meh. My old football coach had a catchphrase he used whenever you made the tiniest mistake..... "Do ten!" -

One thing I really liked about BB's approach was giving Petey and Brock PK responsibilities. Both guys have been suffering from a lack of confidence this season and telling two of your core players that they can't be trusted to kill penalties on a team with the worst PK in the Universe is not a way to instill confidence, IMHO. I'm not quite as down on Travis as many people here are, but I believe this was a huge coaching mistake. Hopefully both guys get a boost from Boudreau's trust in them and carry it through the rest of the season.
