  1. They're the same age, so RR must either be looking for a lot more money, or a lot more term.... 5 years for a 30 year old is about as much as I'd want to go at 22 mil per....
  2. Some people have all the luck.... https://www.cnn.com/travel/article/tan-hill-inn-storm-arwen-scli-intl-gbr/index.html You don't say.....
  3. DD was a fine QB and I cheered for him when he won a Grey Cup with the Leos in '06, but now he's gone over to the Dark Side....
  4. Yeah. I read somewhere that a bunch of their recruits jumped ship after the news about Riley too....I suppose a lot will depend on who they hire to replace him... I was always a bit iffy about Rattler, but I suppose the fact that Caleb WIlliams is a Freshman gives me some hope. Baker is a pretty big disappointment, but TBH, I was really surprised to see an undersized QB go first overall. I always thought that his tendency to try and squeeze throws through the tightest of windows wouldn't fly at the pro level. Now it appears that he's really struggling with his confidence. (something I never thought I'd ever say about Baker Mayfield) Kyler is doing okay, though.... As far as the Bills - Patriots, I guess we'll see which Bills squad shows up. The team looked good on Thanksgiving, but awful the previous week against the Titans. I think a lot comes down to the running game. They need a contribution from Singletary and Moss, so Allen isn't playing with a target on his back the entire game.
  5. Didn't watch any games today (putting up Xmas decorations and besides, my team played on Thursday) but I heard Mixon had a big game. Takes a bit of the sting out of the Sooners loss yesterday.....(as did Michigan beating the Buckeyes)
  6. The Calgary - Sask game was actually entertaining....normally I stop caring once the Leos have been eliminated, but flipping through channels, I came across the game and decided to watch. The Riders won in OT and although I'm not particularly a fan, seeing a Calgary team lose is always entertaining....
  7. Yeah, as much as I like Semien, that contract is a bit much for me. It reminds me of the 7 year deal the Jays gave V Dub back in the mid 2000s...
  8. Good point. If I had to guess I'd say Green is hesitant to give Halak a start in the middle of a losing streak. Imagine the criticism if Jaro got lit up.... As far as the coaching change goes, I've stayed out of it, because people just get too emotional. (and, IMO, too irrational) I've come to the point where I don't think the team has a choice....they have to make a change. I honestly don't believe that the team's struggles are necessarily a result of poor coaching, (although the PK might be an exception) but as the saying goes, you can't fire all of the players. The whole thing has kind of snowballed and now it's in the players' heads. Management needs to show the players that they recognize the issue and the way to do that is to make coaching changes. Although in my experience change it's rarely a permanent situation, a coaching change often gives the players a boost. It would also be nice to get the occasional break....I have a hard time remembering a team that had this kind of luck. Case in point: The game against the Hawks. 5 goal posts and they lose on an average point shot that had eyes....That's the way the Hockey Gods operate sometimes....you're looking for them to throw you a bone and they throw you an anchor instead. In any event, the team needs something to change the culture in the room. I can't think of anything other than a new coach that can be done relatively easily....
  9. Gotta say that it's nice of these dolts to identify themselves....If anyone happens to see one of those flags hanging outside a home near where they live, I would suggest you inform local law enforcement and take the necessary precautions....
  10. A fair point K, but you shouldn't take this so literally. It was a sarcastic response to a snide comment....
  11. Not really Euro news, but one of italy or Portugal are guaranteed to miss the World Cup after being drawn in the same 4 team playoff group. Only the winner will advance to the Cup finals. Italy has a better first round match up, taking on North Macedonia, while Portugal faces Turkey. Personally, the ideal result would be for both of them to miss. Let's go Turkey! https://www.sportsnet.ca/soccer/article/one-of-italy-or-portugal-will-miss-world-cup-after-qualifying-draw/
  12. I would, but I don't have any neighbors in South Africa....
  13. Is it racist to say I expected the Chinese Space Agency to do this first? Asking for a friend.....
  14. Just talked to my mom, who turned 88 yesterday.....she is booked for shot number 3 shortly. Fingers crossed we can make it to Kelowna for a visit this summer....
  15. I agree on the list of players to keep. I mentioned Gauld specifically, because it seems like it's harder for North American teams to hang onto those European players, especially the ones from the British Isles...
  16. I used to be a traveling musician in a previous life....Edmonton - Edson - Hinton - Jasper - PG was a standard tour for us. We always looked forward to three of those gigs and you only get one guess as to which two we didn't look forward to....
  17. I'm assuming that most of us have heard the awful story about an SUV driving into a parade in Waukesha, Wisconsin this weekend. 5 people are dead and more than 40 injured. (some children and some critically) Today, I'm reading that the driver may have been fleeing from a different crime scene: https://www.msn.com/en-ca/news/world/suv-driver-in-parade-crash-may-have-been-fleeing-a-crime/ar-AAR0cNC?li=AAggFp4 If it's true and it was a case of someone running from the police, I wonder what people's thoughts are....I've long been an advocate of eliminating high speed chases. In this day and age, with cameras everywhere, the chances of someone making a clean getaway are slim....
  18. No-one who's ever been to Edson would be surprised by this news....
  19. Now that the Leos are done for the season, I'm not paying much attention other than to employ the ABC philosophy.... Anyone but Calgary....
  20. I thought the squad kind of reverted to their pre-Vanni form, especially early in the match. They looked tentative, as if they realized they were in a playoff game, even though the last month of matches were all the equivalent of playoff games.... A couple of questionable lineup decisions, IMO, but the way this team played for Sartini, they'd be fools not to give him the permanent job. If they can manage to keep Gauld, I'm optimistic about next season.
  21. I have to agree. This reeks of propaganda. It's just too convenient that she disappears, only to reappear as if all is well, just as international pressure ramps up.
