  1. They don't? It's established that Rittenhouse shot Rosenbaum and it's established that Rosembaum was unarmed. We only have Rittenhouse's word that Rosenbaum threatened to kill him and KR claims that he thought the plastic bag that Rosenbaum threw at him was a chain. (Because those two things look so much alike ) It's seems like a pretty decent case in any country where a judge refuses to allow people who were shot and killed to be called "victims". I'd like to believe that the judge can be impartial as well, but what I've seen and heard so far makes that difficult to believe. Couple that with the obvious partisanship on the Supreme Court and it suggests to me that these two murder victims will not receive justice and it won't be long before Rittenhouse is back hanging with his Proud Boy friends, flashing White Power symbols and playing GI Joe with his lethal weapon that he treats like a toy....
  2. Hard to tell without hearing what led up to this, but I get the impression that the judge is prejudiced against this case. First he says that the murder victims can't be characterized as "victims" and now he (appears to be) saying that a previous incident has no bearing, because Rittenhouse didn't actually have a gun..... The Prosecution lawyer points out (quite rightly, IMO) that the whole defense is predicated on whether KR feared for his life from a guy who also didn't have a gun and the judge says they're not similar, because Rittenhouse's actions in Kenosha were "split second" decisions? I said earlier that I fully expect an acquittal and the judge's actions are doing nothing to make me change my mind....
  3. Yep, and if not for a similar attack on Nancy Kerrigan (who was her main rival on the US Olympic team) no-one who know who Tonya is...
  4. One thing that got lost a bit on that goal is how Petey took that pass off his skate and onto his stick like it was nothing. It's a play that a lot of players wouldn't have been able to make....
  5. I've played against a few guys like Connor Garland before....It's like they're magnetized and the puck is made of metal.... No matter how many times you knock them off the puck, it just seems to stick to them. As an opponent, it's extremely frustrating and I can see why CG draws a lot of penalties.
  6. Nah. In this particular case, the call on Halak was just brutal.... The fact is, "game management" would suggest that even if Jaro had gotten a bigger piece of Getzlaf's skate, the zebra would let it go. Most NHL refs don't want to call a penalty in a 1 goal game with 3 minutes left. The call last night was the opposite of game management
  7. Agreed. I haven't seen the stats, but I'd guess he's near the top in hits for the Canucks....which is saying something for a third pairing guy....
  8. i wonder when the 'Caps will get around to removing the "Interim" from Vanni's title?
  9. Me too. As a guy carrying an extra 25 lbs around, I'd love to be able to fix that with a shot....
  10. I don't make a habit out of feeling sorry for Bears fans, but that "taunting" penalty was brutal....

  12. As do I. And even without that video, his playing "celebrity" to a bunch of Proud Boys tells me that he's exactly what we think he is. The sad part of this whole thing is that I fully expect him to walk on the murder charges. He'll get a slap on the wrist for the weapons charge and become a hero to the MAGA crowd.... ....and the divisions will get deeper...
  13. I hope you like Chick fil A and Cracker Barrel.....
  14. Hard to tell from the video, but the still photo at the end of the article certainly suggests it was him....especially when you look at those dorky Crocs.... That being said, even if this kid assaulted a woman (and his actions during and since Kenosha tell me he wouldn't think twice) it doesn't (or shouldn't) have any bearing on this trial. The fact that we know he was hanging with the Proud Boys in a bar already showed us what kind or person he is....
  15. QFT. When Zdeno Chara, Bill Muckalt and a 1st for Alexi Yashin isn't even considered your worst trade, you've entered a new category of bad.... That being said, I'll always be grateful to MM. Even though it cost us Trevor Linden, getting Todd Bertuzzi, Bryan McCabe (who Burkie parlayed into drafting both Twins) and a draft pick that turned into superpest, Jarkko Ruutu, was a great day in Canucks history.
  16. Two "Save of the Year" candidates within the span of three games. You can probably count how many times that has happened on one hand.....
  17. Not to rain on anyone's parade, but I think another factor was that for once, an average NHL goaltender played like an average NHL goaltender against the Canucks...
  18. I think this is actually a pretty big deal and it's one area where the loss of Sutter and Beagle really shows.... Right now, it's Bo and Miller and then everyone else as far as faceoffs go and I think it's no small part in the struggles of the PK so far this year....
  19. I'm not going to wade too far into the debate here, but I just have to say what a great job Garland has done so far. Absolute gem and JB deserves credit for getting him, even if it was part of a bigger deal where he took on a big salary and term... I think it goes to show how a player can fly under the radar in Arizona....
  20. They're in.... RSL scored late to beat Sporting
  21. Just my opinion and I'm aware that it has no bearing on US law, but as far as I'm concerned, if you show up armed with a lethal weapon at any event that isn't part of a military operation, the "self-defense" claim should be out the window....
  22. The ref is having a rough game tonight.... He doesn't seem to think anything is a push in the back...
