  1. Yeah, it was originally "The sun shines on LA" rather than "the bay"....Still a great song.... As far as the game goes, it was likely over anyway, but I can't imagine my season ending on a brutal "swing" call by the 1st base ump.....just ridiculous....
  2. Yep. I grew up in PG and traveled up to Dawson Creek and Ft St. John quite often for sports....we always felt that the real BC/Alberta border was the Pine Pass....
  3. As the lead singer of every band I've ever played in, Steve Perry has always been my hero (along with Freddie Mercury).... "Don't Stop Believin'" is the song everyone talks about, but it's well down the list for me. "Lights" is my all time favorite, along with "Wheel in the Sky"....
  4. Ummm.....that shows about 1.2 billion non-religious people.....
  5. A few things: Although I loved Myers steamrolling Keith, he did not get what he deserves. He deliberately injured Danny and got a slap on the wrist from the league for it. The Canucks loss to the Kings was in no small part due to losing their best scorer.... Also, lets not forget Duncan Keith's "Wakey wakey, Backes!" comment to an obviously concussed Dave Backes, after the Blues forward was leveled by Brent Seabrook.... As Rickey would say, ""It's water under the fridge", because retribution for something that killed the Canucks' chances 9 years ago means little, but that doesn't mean I won't feel somewhat vindicated if at some point this season, one of the Canucks punches DK's lights out. As far as the game itself goes, my glass is half full. Halfway through the third, it not only looked like a regulation loss, but a shutout loss to boot. Scoring twice to tie and taking a loser point on the road is s decent start for me. Besides, it's hard to feel too bad after the Canada - Panama Footie result....
  6. Hey, if Covid "Resurchers" don't want to pay through the nose, they can live with being magnetized like the rest of us....
  7. I'm not much into Metal, but I am a musician and as a member of that large fraternity/sorority, I'd like to say something to the uptight parents of St Catherines, Ontario, who circulated a petition calling for the ouster of the Principal at Eden High School, because of her love for Iron Maiden.... https://www.msn.com/en-ca/lifestyle/lifestylegeneral/an-iron-maiden-loving-ontario-principal-is-facing-calls-to-lose-her-job-over-satanic-posts/ar-AAPk0pH?li=AAggNb9 The good news is, someone started a second petition in response, supporting the Principal: So, to the parents who started the first petition, all I have to say is this:
  8. Football is a funny game.... 7 years ago (has it really been that long?) Odell Beckham Jr. makes a catch that most people have on their top 5 all time.... Today, on a 4th and 2. in the Chagers' red zone, Baker Mayfield hits him right in the bread basket and OBJ can't haul it in....
  9. I'm following and am firmly on the Rays / Brewers bangwagons.... The important thing is that the Yankees are gone, but seeing the Red Sox and Dodgers kicked to the curb as well would take some of the sting out of the Jays missing the playoffs....
  10. I've always thought the one reason we haven't heard from aliens is the fact that an advanced civilization would have no idea we were here.... Our first radio broadcast was in 1920, so the radio waves have travelled a mere 100 light years. That's just across the street, astronomically speaking....
  11. Could've been a real catastrophe.....
  12. Hmmm......not sure it's fair to lump the city of Buffalo in on this one... Isn't that more or less like saying the city of Fairbanks should have done more about predatory lending, back in the late oughts?
  13. If we went to war with China, it would only be a matter of time before everyone would be speaking Mandarin on the streets of Richmond.... ....oh, wait....
  14. I wish I knew more about Marine Biology, but sadly, it's one of the many areas where my knowledge is lacking.....I have to wonder: Can she be released into the wild? Does she know how to survive?
  15. Too little and far too late.... For the two years prior, he was downplaying the severity of the virus, discouraging people from wearing masks and undercutting the actual experts, like Anthony Fauci...
  16. Lindsey Graham got booed in South Carolina today, after he encouraged people to "think about" getting vaccinated.... When he (correctly) pointed out to people that the majority of of Covid hospitalizations were among the unvaccinated, he was met with more boos and several cries of "lies!"... It shouldn't be lost on anyone that Graham is now getting booed, thanks to his prior continued enabling of the lies and campaign of disinformation from Donald Trump. You reap what you sow, Lindsey.....
  17. My two daughters got their second shots yesterday. Both were feeling the effects today and stayed home.....but their parents feel pretty good.
  18. I'm not touching the Ignore button until it's been completely vetted.... IMO, it was launched far too quickly and who knows what the long term effects will be? Is it just coincidence that "Ignore" shares all it's letters with "Ignorance"? I think not. My account, my choice....
  19. It's why I'm loved everywhere I go......
  20. Amen. Hopefully the Rays kick the Bosox to the curb in the next round. Oh yes, and I'm hoping the Dodgers are sent off by the Cards tonight as well.....it's a tough ask, (beating Max Scherzer)....but I would have said the same about the Sox beating Gerrit Cole....
  21. An obvious case of Squid Pro Quo.....
  22. I agree. The additions of Cimber and Richards paid immediate dividends. (Brad Hand? Not so much) It's too bad those deals didn't happen sooner..... As far as Semien and Ray go, they're both going to get paid and I doubt the Jays will be able to afford them. (My money is on Semien returning to the West Coast, on the other side of the Bay) If I had to guess, I'd say the focus will be on re-signing Berrios and building the rotation around him, Ryu and Manoah. They'll likely have those three at the front of the rotation with Matz (if they can re-sign him) and a starter TBD rounding it out. At second, I could see Biggio taking over next year, with Espinal and Valera platooning at 3rd. As much as it sucks to lose an MVP calibre bat in Semien, it's worth noting that this was an offense that couldn't find room for Randall Grichulk and his 22 HRs and 81 RBI. I still think a 5th starter and a better bullpen is more important.
