Credit where credit is due....we've all been critical of Schneider when he makes questionable moves, but every button he pushed tonight was the right one... -
Interesting that both the NHL and NBA have generational talents available at first overall.... ....of course, if the Canucks' brass were running the Spurs, they'd have traded for Kyrie at the deadline....

From what I can tell, Max Crepeau is due to return sometime this summer. A lot will depend on his recovery and how well he is able to play after such an injury.... He'll be in his early 30's when the next WC rolls around, so I'd expect him to be Canada's #1, unless he is unable to return to form. -

It's a good thing DJ is back. I'd hate to go into the Miami series with Heineman as the #1 Catcher.... -
I'll start this by saying that Gordon Sargent won the low Amateur title at the US Open by 9 strokes.....but....it would have been 10 strokes if not for this: Apparently, a caddie from one of the groups playing ahead of Sargent dislodged the hole liner and nobody noticed until after Sargent's putt. What I found baffling is that there is no recourse for the player in this situation. It's "too bad, so sad".... Just imagine if this scenario played out on a playoff hole in a major......or (even worse IMO) if you had to go through what Joe Daley did: https://ftw.usatoday.com/2017/03/joe-daley-putt-lip-out-q-school-video-unlucky

It's a tough call. I think I'd go with Bo. He seems like he's going to be the more consistent hitter as his career progresses. Vlad seems more like a "higher highs and lower lows" guy. And like Heffy said, I feel like 1st / DH is an easier spot to fill than SS. Bo isn't a great defensive shortstop (and likely never will be) but I think he's improved this season and is doing all management could ask for. All that being said, I don't want to lose either of them...and I really wish Schneider would at least try your suggestion of hitting Bo behind Vladdy, to give him some protection. -

Looks like the Gold Cup will be equally as disappointing. Most of Canada's big names are not on the GC roster: https://www.sportsnet.ca/soccer/article/davies-david-among-big-names-missing-from-canadas-gold-cup-roster/ Looks like Cavallini will be the guy they look to for goals. Also of note, Whitecaps' midfielder Ali Ahmed was named to the squad. -

Doubt that would happen Shizzy, but I love the optimism.... Last night was one of those soul-crushing losses that teams experience a few times per season. A lot will depend on how they rebound in Miami, who, of course, are no longer the pushovers they've been for the past decade.... -

Didn't see it either, but from what I've seen from highlights and commentary, @UnkNuk is right. The Americans were and are clearly the better side. One thing I found surprising from the aftermath was the comments by TSN's Julian Deguzman. He also thought the US dominated, but was also quite critical of Herdman's deployment and game plan. First time I've heard harsh criticism directed at the skipper.... -

Jays spot Bassitt a 6 run lead after 3 innings.... ....and Bassitt seems determined to give it back.....6-4 now...bottom of 4.... -
If we're talking about singles play, I'm pretty sure it's Milos....(on the Men's side, at least) I feel like Nestor might have had a higher ranking in doubles at some point.

I know that was said in jest, but the fact is, this franchise has always been about making the playoffs. The past year or so tells me that this management group is no different in that regard, than the ones that preceded it. Maybe that's ownership's fault.... -
[DEBATE] Which is the worst trade in Vancouver Canucks history?
RUPERTKBD replied to Elias Pettersson's topic in Canucks Talk
The OEL trade is front of everyone's mind right now, but it's the Neely trade for me.... As bad as Benning's deal was, he wasn't the one who made it worse by buying OEL's contract out before he had to....and it wasn't Benning that put us in a Cap crunch by adding at the deadline instead of subtracting. -

Nice to get the win and all, but the offense really needs to wake up. Not to put it all on one guy, but I keep hearing about how Vladdy is putting in all this extra work in the cage, but from what I'm seeing, he's still trying to hit everything into orbit and is rolling over on everything on the odd occasion where he swings at a hittable pitch.... Also Chapman...has he somehow forgotten that all his early season success came from trying to hit to center and right? -
Disappointing that no Canadians are in contention at the US Open going into the weekend.... .....however, that disappointment is mitigated by the fact that FIGJAM missed the cut....

Maybe they should put DJ behind Vladdy.... 1-0 pitch and Jansen hits it to Mars, but a foot or so foul....next pitch he just gets it over the wall..... -

I made this point at the TDL.....I've been watching this same movie for over 50 years.... I think that Canuck fans better get used to the idea of Seattle winning the Cup before we do.... -

Once again, it seems like a lottery team is acting like a Cup contender.... Sure extra Cap space is nice, but I would have given OEL another year to try and bounce back....and then see where we're at at the end of the season. -

I met Danny a couple of times, but if we ran into each other today, we wouldn't recognize each other. Never met Joey. The Lamplighter was already gone by the time I got to PR. (As was TJ's) Obviously I know Lonni, Ian and Geri, but I don't recognize those other names. -

Of course if we're talking Canadian music and Trooper, we have to include this gem (and yes, I've played this one too) It's funny, because in the lyircs Ra sings "She was onto Tommy like a cheap suit"....he's talking about drummer Tommy Stewart. I saw Trooper at the Rock Pit in PG and Tommy was completely wasted.....still managed to play okay, but it's a good thing drummers sit down when they're playing....
