I don't think boycotting the Olympics this year is going to cause WWIII and more than it did when several countries boycotted Moscow in 1980.... Doing nothing just lets the Chinese know that we're going to bend over and take it.....
-
That's what I was thinking too.....if he did that to the nurse, what did he do to his wife? As I said earlier: Lock the POS up....
-
I think I speak for the majority here when I say I hope they catch this a**hole and send him to jail for a significant amount of time.... https://montreal.ctvnews.ca/police-in-sherbrooke-que-searching-for-man-who-allegedly-punched-nurse-for-vaccinating-his-wife-1.5595631

I agree...... ....dangle the carrot in front of them and when they reach for it, club them over the head with the stick....
-
Agreed. On both points
-
Unfortunately, I do as well..... If they turn around and release them as soon as Meng is freed, they're all but admitting they were holding the Michaels hostage....
-
Nice to know that none of them will have to quarantine for 14 days after playing in Alberta....

I think video clips like these perfectly demonstrate the problem with the phrase "Do your own research".... The fact is, most people don't have a clue how to properly conduct research. They only know how to scour the internet for sources that validate their positions. As a result, we get the kind of stupidity displayed in those montages.....

Judging by his "Sad" emoji response to my previous post, I have to assume that @johngould21 is a Bud drinker....(or really likes gravy) ....as a result, I have updated my mental image of what he looks like:
-
Could be....TBH, I don't follow pre-season stuff all that closely (except for the Canucks) It did have me thinking though....what if Keith and Smitty had dug in their heels like Archibald? What a mess the Oilers would have then...
-
Salad dressing..... How stupid is that? Not just that Flynn believes this garbage, but that anyone would believe that the best way to target anti-vaxxers would be through salad dressing.... Try gravy....or Budweiser.....doofus....
-
Not sure what the rules are for that. The article focused on Archibald having to quarantine whenever he returned to play in Canada.....it could be that he'd have to isolate when he first went to the states, but would be all good to play the rest of the season after that.
-
Interesting side story out of Edmonton.... Apparently, both Duncan Keith and Mike Smith needed to be convinced to be vaccinated by Ken Holland. (Keith only got his shot a week ago) OTOH, Josh Archibald is digging in his heels, much like Bertuzzi. Of course, there are two major differences between Archibald and Bertuzzi: One is a big part of his team and the other is a 4th line checker / penalty killer. Secondly, Archibald plays for a Canadian franchise, meaning that after every trip to the US, he would have to quarantine for 14 days, effectively making him unavailable for home games all season. The Oilers have not yet mandated vaccines, so Archibald is able to attend training camp, although he is being tested for Covid on a daily basis. Of course, such an arrangement won't work for an entire season. Bottom line: If he doesn't change his mind on Vaccines, the odds are JO spends this season in AHL Bakersfield.... So the Jays lose, but not before Ryan Borucki plunks Kevin Kiermaier for the "card stealing" incident on Monday.... Despite the fact we didn't see an entertaining game, we did see some Oscar worthy performances by both teams afterward: Ryan Borucki, claiming that the pitch "got away from him".... Kevin Kiermaier, acting all tough guy and claiming that it "didn't hurt".... and the Oscar goes to.....Kevin Cash, for his "outraged" performance to the Umpires, even though the entire world knew this was coming. The only true emotion came from Pitching Coach Pete Walker, who was genuinely pissed that the Umps felt they could decide what RB's intent was, despite no previous warnings... Also, a bit lost in the drama, was the fact that KK gave the Jays some bulletin board material, when he all but told the interviewer that he wanted to play the Jays in the playoffs....Sure Kevin, you just took 2 of 3 at home, but the Jays took 2 of 3 last week.... Careful what you wish for,,,, -
I disagree. Regardless of where the variants originated, the "vaccine hesitant" are allowing them to spread. It's not a coincidence that infection rates are higher in areas where the total number of vaccinated people is lower.
-
For players as well? I wasn't aware of that. I'd still ave to guess that the PA would get involved if one of their players refused the vaccine and was suspended as a result.
-
Covid is indeed a bit of a special case, but I agree with @Fanuck....the medical profession has never balked at treating self-inflicted ailments and I don't see them starting now...even if I agree that some folks might deserve to be refused treatment....
-
It seems like a no-brainer that teams would just make vaccination as requirement. My guess is that the PA has something to say about it and that's why there is no player mandate.
-
Must have gotten ahold of the ted Cruz playbook....
-
"Feel at risk"? What does that mean? As far as I can tell, every anti-vaxxer "feels at risk", (or claims to) which is a big reason we're in the mess we're in. The information is out there. Vaccines are safe and effective and it's time to stop coddling people who are looking for excuses to justify their nonsensical stand, which is far less about safety than it is some ill-conceived idea of "personal freedom" and "sticking it to the man"....

My former Electrical Instructor and friend is from New Zealand....I remember being very concerned for his family back in 2011 when about 180 people were killed by an earthquake in the Christchurch area.... At the time, all I knew was that he was from NZ....luckily for him and his family, they're North Islanders (Auckland / Hamilton area) and everyone was fine.
-
@Canuck Surfer @Ilunga I understand an earthquake has hit in your part of the world. Hope everything is okay brothers...

....and the plot thickens between the Jays and the Rays... Anyone who watched last night's game saw Kevin Kiermayer inexplicably run through a stop sign at third and get gunned out by Teo at home in the 6th inning. What we all missed at the time was the fact that a data card was dislodged from Alejandro Kirk's wrist band by KK when he slid in. Kirk didn't notice, but Kiermayer picked up the card and took it back to the dugout. When the Jays realized what had happened, they sent a bat boy over to the Rays dugout to ask for the card back.....he was turned down and according to Arash Madani, the Jays are decidedly not happy about it.... https://www.sportsnet.ca/mlb/article/rays-grab-data-card-shaken-loose-kirks-wrist-deny-blue-jays-request-return/ Right now, I'd put the possibility of Alex Manoah drilling Kiermayer tonight at at least 50%.....Might just be some fireworks tonight at the Trop..... -

Looks like I'm not the only one who thought that Kulpa was brutal last night.....and not brutal both ways.... https://www.msn.com/en-ca/sports/mlb/blue-jays-fans-outraged-over-umpires-brutal-calls-in-costly-loss-to-rays/ar-AAOFw69?li=AAggFp5
