  1. Good on him....I guess.... Personally, I think the NHL should retire that number.....even if Orr is a Trump fan, he's still the GOAT...
  2. Coxe v Probie was the first thing that popped into my mind, but I didn't have time to watch the vids and I'm not sure if it's the first or second.... The fact that CC went back for another go with Probert suggests to me that it's the right choice...
  3. Agreed. But those two ABs were only the last two incidents.... He was also squeezing Pearson, giving him nothing on the corners, or at the top of the zone. Then Chargois and Enns come in and all of a sudden, those same pitches are strikes.... I usually shake my head a bit when people blame the officials for a loss and as I said, it was sloppy play (especially wild pitches / passed balls) that were the biggest factors, but the Jays had a real opportunity to come back and some poor calls by the HP umpire made sure it didn't happen.
  4. The Jays played a sloppy game and it resulted in a couple of extra runs for the Rays, but the home plate ump was absolutely brutal tonight. Both Teo and Valera should have had walks in the 9th, but the ump was apparently possessed by the ghost of Angel Hernandez tonight...
  5. There are plenty of First Nations team nicknames and logos out there.....Seminoles, Fighting Sioux, Fighting Illini, Utes, Chippewas, Choctaws, Aztecs....there's also names like Chiefs, Warriors and Warhawks.... IMHO, those are different that outright racist tropes like "Redskin" and "Indian".....and many of them operate with the approval of the Nations they derive their names from.... That being said, there are some logos out there that could do with some upgrading, even if the nickname remains as is.
  6. He was asked about that in the post-game presser.... He gave some BS answer about how he "didn't remember" and then went on to tell the reporter that he "didn't even know what he was referring to"....
  7. In any other season, I'd agree. But this is the year of Shohei Ohtani.... I think it will probably be fairly close, (and I hope I'm wrong) but my money is on Ohtani.
  8. I liked the fact that Sartini went with White and Cavallini for a stretch in the second half....nice to see the side go for a road win, rather than be content with the draw. It didn't work out, but I applaud the decision anyway.
  9. I saw a tweet this morning with a QB comparison.....PM 346, 3 TDs....LJ 346, 3 TDs.... Congrats to Jackson for getting over that hump.
  10. It sure looked that way.... I'm far from a fan of the Cowboys and the zebras certainly had a hand in that game, but I have to take my hat off to Zeurlein....kicks a 56 yarder like it was nothing. Might have been good from 66.....
  11. Didn't get to see the Sooners beat the 'Huskers yesterday....but I did get to see their DB, DJ Graham make one of the best picks I've ever seen....
  12. Nothing takes the sting out of a week 1 loss like pounding the Phish in week 2....in Miami....
  13. Take it FWIW, because it's all anecdotal, but from what I've read about Chara, he's one of those guys who just doesn't like being idle. I saw a story once about him being a bit of a workout freak and always riding his bike to the rink when the B's had practice... My guess is that he wants to keep busy once his playing career is done....
  14. I watched him play for the Cougars when I was in PG for a football tournament. PG beat Patrick Marleau and the Seattle T-Birds 6-2. By the final 10 minutes or so, the game devolved into a series of scraps. Everyone in the stands was chanting "Chara...Chara..." I asked a buddy who had season's tickets, if Z was a good scrapper and he replied that Chara had one-punched about a half dozen opponents during the season.... Sure enough, even though pretty much everyone was dropping the gloves, not a single Seattle player would make eye contact with big Z...
  15. I think it depends on the number of people who remain unvaccinated. I'm certainly no expert in virology, but as I understand it, a virus needs a host in order to mutate. That's what happened with Delta and a big part of the reason we're in the current mess. If everyone had got onboard when vaccines first became available, there's a good chance that Delta would not have developed. That ship has sailed now as we're already up to Mu https://www.cbc.ca/news/health/latest-coronavirus-variants-mu-c12-1.6161194.
  16. If I get all the connections to Ringo, that's who I'd take....
  17. This raises an interesting question, as someone mentioned Clapton earlier, assuming it gave access to the Yardbirds, Cream, Derek and the Dominos, etc... If that is how it works, I'd change my choice to the Beatles, because this (theoretically) lets me listen to the solo stuff of all four, Wings, Travelling Wilburys, and thanks to Ringo's All-Star band, Journey, Santana (Gregg Rolie), Toto (Steve Lukather), Mr. Mister (Richard Page), Men at Work (Colin Hay) David Lee Roth Band, Joe Satriani, Steve Vai and ELO (Greg Bissonette), Kansas (Warren Ham), Eagles (Joe Walsh), The Band (Levon Helm and Rick Danko), Bruce Springsteen (Nils Lofgren and Clarence Clemons), The Guess Who (Burton Cummings), Poco (Timothy B. Schmidt), BTO (Randy Bachman), The Who (John Entwistle), Bad Company (Simon Kirke), Peter Frampton, Dave Edmunds and Todd Rundgren....(probably missing a few others as well) I think I'm set...
  18. Big 6-3 win for the Jays today. They really needed that as you can't expect any help from the O's later tonight. The good news is that they have 10 games coming up against two last place teams. (7 against the Twins and 3 against the Orioles) They also have 3 more against the Rays down at the Trop and three against the Yankees in the penultimate series of the season. That one might just decide things....
  19. It's too bad Trump wasn't at that game.... ....he would have grabbed that pus.....err..cat....
  20. Another nice win for the Jays.... It's just too bad the umps gifted the Yankees a win over the Twinkies as well....
  21. Only a matter of time until the narrative is that "Lefty" doctor's "killed her" by not following the guidance of internet "researchers" and the biggest Ambulance Chaser in the history of the legal profession....
  22. Those Aussies.....always with the fowl language.....
