  1. Looking around to see who might be a fit, I'm wondering (and hoping) if the Jays are looking at Jose Ramirez? He's a switch hitter with good power numbers and plays 3B / DH...... https://www.baseball-reference.com/players/r/ramirjo01.shtml
  2. Yeah, it sucks to lose Martin, but he was a SS and unless you move Bichette, where is he going to play? Besides, we still have Groshans in the pipe, so the position is pretty much covered. With that in mind, I understand the deal. Shatkins hasn't given up on a WC spot, even though there are a few teams that the Jays will have to leap frog to make it happen. Sometimes you have to show your team that you're serious about winning and it would have sent a pretty negative message to the guys if they had just sat back after acquiring Hand, with everyone around them landing big names.... For me, the one guy who would have been a huge mistake is Moreno. Catcher has long been a black hole for this organization and Moreno looks like the real deal. TBH, it's adding Woods-Richardson that makes the price really steep for me. Adding him to get Berrios means that our return for dealing Stroman looks pretty poor.... In any event, this is what the team needed, although I'd still like to see a lefty with power added as well.
  3. If it makes you feel any better Shizzy, the Yanks have traded for both Joey Gallo and Anthony Rizzo..... With that short porch in right at Yankee stadium, those two guys pretty much just have to make decent contact. I was kind of hoping the Jays could sing a deal for Kyle Schwarber, as I think they need a left handed power bat, but the Red Sox have apparently traded a A Ball pitcher for him... The Jays' most pressing need was/is pitching, but everyone else in the AL East has dramatically improved their offense (with the exception of the Os)
  4. It's a difficult question to answer when I don't know the details of how the virus started out.... If it started in wet markets, I'd like to see them outlawed, but I have no idea how the international community would force that. If it was allowed to "escape" a lab, then you'd have to somehow prove negligence. Again, I have no idea how you would determine that, or who was responsible. The lab theory also opens up a bit of a can of worms. Some of the research done in these labs is funded by the international scientific community, so assigning blame becomes even more problematic.
  5. Do you have a source to back up this claim? The source you posted earlier suggested that they didn't know.... If you don't want to "waste any more time", why don't you just admit that you were the one who was being dishonest when you claimed that Fauci "admitted he was lying"?
  6. It was an admission that he made mistakes. Not that he "lied". I don't understand why you have so much trouble differentiating between the two. They're not analogous....
  7. Sorry for picking on your post, but it was the last of several similar ones that I have seen ITT......I believe Ned Stark and his so-called "Bastard son" said it best:
  8. I was looking and listening for the part where he admits that he was lying, as you claimed. It's not there..... No-one is disputing that mistakes were made.
  9. Neither of those links support your claim of Fauci " admitting to lying to the public about it purposely". He admitted that he made a mistake, partly because they thought there would be a shortage of PPE and that they would be needed by medical professionals....and partly because they didn't know the extent of the virus' method of transmission at that time. You should actually listen to the interview...
  10. Joel Edmundson....Ben Chiarot....those are the names you're looking for....
  11. When did this happen? Can you post a source for that, because I don't recall seeing it......?
  12. There's no real reason for it, but I'm hoping they get Suggs. I cheer for Gonzaga every year in March Madness, so JS would be easy to cheer for as a Raptor....
  13. Simple answer: The Canucks don't need any more smallish defenders, especially at #5 and #6. People can absolutely question moves, (that's what these boards are for) and people can absolutely disagree with their "questions" as I am doing.
  14. There are plenty of things a GM can do to move 2.5 million in Cap space. If you worry too much about what might go wrong, you'll never do anything and the complaining on these boards will go from "JB is crippling us down the road!" to "JB never makes any moves!" I repeat: I don't believe the a 2.5 million contract (even at a 4 year term) is in any way "crippling". You are welcome to disagree.....
  15. Yes, 4 years. I still don't see that as a "crippling" issue, at 2.5 million per....
  16. Jays have acquired reliever Brad Hand from the Nats, for catching prospect Riley Adams. Very happy with this deal, as Hand can either close, or set up Romano to close. Adams wasn't the Jays' top catching prospect, so the cost is minimal. I still think the team needs to add a back of the rotation starter. The performance by Matz yesterday (and lately) doesn't inspire confidence.
  17. Really? You went from "elated" to depressed (or whatever you're feeling) because we signed a bottom pairing defenseman at 2.5 million per?
  18. Yeah, they'd probably have to change the name to The Medium 10.....
  19. I honestly think some people are looking at this the wrong way.... Essentially, Schmidt has been replaced by OEL. Both 30 years old, OEL makes a bit more money after the partial retention by the 'Yotes. Edler, at 35 years old has been replaced by Poolman and Schenn, for slightly less money. In addition, we acquired a forward who will be top 9 at absolute worst, but more likely slots in as a top 6. (We also acquired a 3C, which cost us nothing in assets.....) Yes, this allt cost us a 13th overall pick which certainly stings, but it also allowed us to move some bad contracts and (hopefully) free up enough money to re-sign two franchise RFAs..... Concerns about what some of these deals will look like down the road is valid, but nobody actually knows what will happen....The bottom line, IMHO, is that this team looks significantly better than it did a year ago and I believe that JB and co examined the risk / reward aspect of these moves and arrived at the conclusion that it was the right thing to do. As did I....
  20. Maybe it's just me, but it seems like a lot of people are looking at this like "Tucker Poolman? Never heard of him, so he must suck....." Then they scramble off to the "advanced metrics" sites for some WAR numbers to (hopefully) back up their uninformed opinions. I don't watch a lot of Jets games, unless they're playing the Canucks.....or if they're in the playoffs. I thought he looked okay in the playoffs and TBH, I didn't really notice him much against the 'Nucks.... For a defensive defenseman, I don't really think that's such a bad thing.
  21. I agree with King....I've already taken 2 Pfizer shots. I don't really see a downside to a third, if it's offered by a medical professional....
  22. I've never quite understood why we pay so much attention to professional trolls....I guess it's people's fascination with those who are willing to say stuff that they would never say out loud themselves? I don't really know much about Piers Morgan, (other than he's an opinionated assclown) so it's probably unfair to call him a racist, but he does seem to spend an inordinate amount of energy being critical of women of color....
  23. According to data released by Pfizer, a second booster shot dramatically increases protection against the Delta variant: https://www.cnn.com/2021/07/28/health/pfizer-third-dose-data-bn/index.html I know that I'd be more than happy to take a third shot, if it provides that much of an increase in protection from Delta....
  24. Well, there's our other RD...... 6' 2", 200 lbs.....not bad. 69 hits in 39 games with the Jets last season, averaging about 18 min per game....
  25. You don't "upgrade" the 4C position, because you need the Cap space to resign two very important RFAs..... What is "sucking" here is your ability to evaluate a professional hockey roster.
