The can pitch as hard as Aroldis Chapman.... ...the only players they have that we'd be interested in are the two Hughes brothers....
-
Only a matter of time before Craig Button starts calling Coronato the steal of the draft.....

What makes you think you "hurt my feelings"? It doesn't bother me a whit when someone else says something out to lunch....

That would be ideal. We'd still need defenders, but I'd prefer a couple of big crease clearers....

I ain't shook....

Really excited to see who Benning's an idiot for missing out on.....

....aaaaand he's gone.... Who's the next "can't miss" guy that we missed out on...?

It's kind of funny, because I'm usually one of the guys who is against taking on big conracts. I didn't want Loui and I hated it when we picked up Miller and Vrbata....but... I actually kind of like this deal. We desperately need defense and OEL at 7 million per until he's 36 doesn't sound terrible to me at all. Defensemen can generally be effective players longer than forwards can and I have little doubt a player of Larsson's calibre can play an effective top 4 role at 36. It doesn't seem very long ago that much of CDC was e-fellating Shea Weber and his even larger Cap hit that isn't done until age 39..... It sucks to lose the first rounder, (and next year's 2nd) but JB has time to address those. Even if he's unsuccessful and Schmidt sticks with the Canucks, the team looks a lot better and the Pacific Division isn't all that strong.....

Yep. Even though the pitch to Refroe was a pedestrian 98 MPH, it was even more inexcusable, IMO, considering what JDM had just done with that same pitch in the previous at bat.... -
Then my work here is done....

....and if he does take you deep, you tip your cap. However, at least you showed him the slider and put the possibility of throwing another in his mind. That might just be enough to make him a millisecond late on 99 MPH.... -

Just read an article abut people being attacked by Coyotes in Stanley Park: https://www.msn.com/en-ca/news/world/coyotes-keep-attacking-people-in-a-vancouver-park-and-a-woman-just-got-bit-while-running/ar-AAMu15B?li=AAggFp5 They managed to get a photo of one of the culprits....

TBH, I don't recall the pitch sequence, but I think on a 2-2 count, it's a good time to bury a slider. JDM isn't looking to walk in that situation and with two strikes, should be in swing mode. If you can't get him to chase, then you can come back with the high heat on full count. I honestly believe that Romano at times gets too caught up in the radar gun and forgets that big league hitters can turn around 100 MPH, if they aren't worried about an off speed pitch being thrown for a strike. JR has an excellent slider and I think he still needs to learn how often to use it. -

A good piece of hitting for sure. However, that was 99 MPH at the top of the zone. That should beat any Major League player, as long as he has a secondary pitch in his mind. Both Martinez and Renfroe were sitting fastball, which tells me that Romano hadn't used the slider enough to keep them guessing. -
It's a good thing.... .....otherwise, it would be Hellfire and Dalmation.....

Plus one for incorporating the lyrics for 2 crappy songs into one sentence.

Apropos of nothing, but going over the list of current UFA defensemen, there are a lot of ex-Canucks..... Aside from the obvious, Edler and Hamonic, there's Jordie Benn, Eric Gudbranson, Ben Hutton, Luke Schenn, Alex Biega, Luca Sbisa, Derrick Pouliot (everyone's favorite), Taylor Fedun, Matt Bartkowski, Adam Clendening, Ashton Sautner, Michael Del Zotto and Jalen Chatfield.... The makings of a pretty solid ECHL lineup right there....
