  1. You know that the Nun Control advocates will be all over this one.....
  2. I know this isn't really funny, but I can't help but smile at the irony of two women who have denied themselves pretty much all of the baser pleasures of life, would "fall off the wagon" as it were: https://www.msn.com/en-ca/news/world/nuns-stole-dollar500k-and-spent-it-on-gambling-and-vacations/ar-BBQHrpx?li=AAggFp5 Talk about bad habits....
  3. I completely disagree with the statement that Canadian coaches don't give children of Chinese descent a chance. As someone who can say with relative confidence that I've played more hockey than 99% of the people on the boards, I can say that I've never witnessed any such favoritism on the part of a coach. Being a minor hockey coach is a selfless and often thankless task, but the vast majority are fair and honest. I won't get into the debate that you and Strome are engaging in, but I will say that what you state above is true. I work at a college and we actively recruit overseas, partially to fill seats, but also in large part for the extra tuition. At orientation this fall, we had several students from India, a few from Nigeria and two from South Korea. No Chinese, but I'd guess that they mostly attend schools in the lower mainland.
  4. My guess is that she'll have to surrender her passport. I doubt there's any bail amount that she couldn't come up with.
  5. So I'm still trying to figure out how you can arrest a foreign national for something you have deemed illegal, but their government does not. This article provides some answers, but some questions as well: https://www.cnn.com/2018/12/06/opinions/arresting-huawei-exec-is-a-case-of-spectacularly-bad-timing-andelman/index.html
  6. Yep. Like how the Raiders took Ray Guy with their first round pick and never regretted it.
  7. Hmmmm.....I wonder if they make microwaves.....
  8. I'm thinking we should send her along with a carton of milk.....
  9. It's only money (and the Yanks have that in spades) but I don't think Harper is worth what he'll command on the open market. Yes the short porch in right plays into his strengths, but I think you're good in the outfield. That lineup you posted can compete with anyone offensively. Whatever other money the Yanks spend is better allocated to pitching, IMO. TBH, I'm surprised they haven't re-signed Happ. The only FA starter available with a better 2018 WAR is Keuchel.
  10. Cards acquire Goldy from the D-Backs. Looks like the rebuild has begun in Arizona. This also suggests to me that the Yanks will probably pursue Machado. My guess is that they'll have him play 3rd and leave Didi at short. Andujar is too good to be a bench player, IMO, so I'd expect Cashman to try and move him for pitching.
  11. Just finished "Rook" and "Stiletto" by Daniel O'Malley. Kind of a Harry Potter meets James Bond mashup. Quite enjoyed both. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Rook_(novel)
  12. Like @406in604, I find myself slightly disappointed that the Pilots wasn't chosen as one of the prospective names.
  13. You're lucky I don't know where you live, Shifty, or you'd get my cane across the chops....
  14. if there's anything to this, I'm looking forward to living until I'm 250 years old.... https://www.foxnews.com/food-drink/101-old-wwii-veteran-coors-light Just imagine if he was drinking beer.....
  15. Not sure how you managed that Tre, but it was PistolPete who said that, not me.
  16. It's funny, because I was a Raider fan back in the 70s. (Huge Kenny Stabler fan still) Al Davis ruined the franchise for me. The first move out of Oakland cinched it for me. I cheered for the Seahawks for a while, but switched to the Bills when Jim Kelly entered the league. Kelly is my all-time favorite player, but Stabler is a close second.
  17. Almost 4 litres to a gallon....I'd say the Georgians aren't that hard done by....
  18. It's a theory that is repeated quite often and may even be true to an extent. Funny though, the people making these claims are in many cases, the same people who don't believe that special interest groups/lobbyists might be doing the same thing with Climate Change denial.
  19. Speaking of "clueless" he didn't give the money to the celeb. But hey, "facts", amirite?
  20. If you've ever been to Pincher Creek, this story will come as no surprise: https://www.msn.com/en-ca/news/canada/lesbian-couple-made-to-quit-jobs-for-being-‘too-gay’/ar-BBQq260?li=AAggFp5
  21. Even as a Sooner fan, I have to agree. The defense is pretty much nonexistent. They pretty much have to put of 60 to get the W. Fun to watch, tho....
  22. Some people might, but personally, I've never gone that route. I voted for our local NDP candidate, because I think he's done an excellent job, however I certainly wasn't hoping for Angry Tom to become PM. As flawed as JT is, I think he was (and still is) the best choice. He has disappointed me on several occasions, but after 40 years of voting, I have yet to find a Premier or PM that hasn't.
