  1. True dat....they did it with the presidency, so why not the Supreme Court?
  2. Yeah, it wasn't really a shot at the Pats. (although it was a happy coincidence ) According to what I've read, Marshawn Lynch and Kareem Hunt have also gotten away with similar plays this season. You have to feel for guys like Clay Matthews when you see what they get penalized for and then watch plays like the one last night. It's a definite double standard and it's league wide.
  3. BK's "drinking buddies" say Senators should vote "No": https://www.msn.com/en-ca/news/politics/kavanaughs-former-classmates-drinking-buddies-call-on-senate-to-vote-no-on-confirmation/ar-BBNY9PX?li=AAggNb9 The allegations of sexual assault (which are unprovable, thanks to the WH limiting the scope of the "investigation") aside, there's basically zero doubt that Kavanagh lied to the Judiciary committee. It appears as though, (unlike republicans and their supporters) they feel that a lying partisan hack is unfit for the Supreme Court. I'm siding with the drinking buddies over the GOP Senators.
  4. A lot of talk about the "double standard" with hits to the head after Sony Michel lowered his helmet on Colts' safety, Clayton Geathers. Geathers had to undergo concussion protocol after the play. https://www.msn.com/en-ca/sports/nfl/nfl-world-reacts-to-horrible-non-call-in-colts-patriots-game/ar-BBNXIP9?li=AAggFp5
  5. Sure.....and if there's any veracity to them, or if the defendant lies about events surrounding the alleged incident, one would expect the authorities to conduct a thorough investigation.... ...unlike what just happened to the guy who's in line for a lifetime position on the highest court in the country.
  6. I've made this exact point several times and I hope the answer is that they show up at the polls in huge numbers and by their votes, let the GOP know how they feel. I can think of nothing better than a bunch of entitled WASPs being sent home so they can join Reddit and whine about Libtards and Snowflakes. Better that way anyhow....if they're home, they can protect their sons from evil women who want to ruin their lives just for fun...
  7. In case any Yankee fans care, (looking at you, Reggie) this is another reason the rest of us hate the Yankees: https://www.sportsnet.ca/baseball/mlb/seek-help-fan-beer-dumped-yankee-stadium/ I generally find it extremely difficult to cheer for the Red Sox, but for the Yankees, I'll make an exception....
  8. This was a case of going through the motions, as we all knew it was going to be. Now the "on the fence" Republicans are coming out and saying they're satisfied by the "investigation"...again, as we knew they would. Hopefully, American women understand how the republican party views them now and make their feelings about that clear at the polling station. The Dems' job is to make sure they get out the vote, because the GOP has already gotten ahead of the game, telling their base that if the Democrats take the house (and maybe the Senate) that the economy will tank, unemployment will skyrocket, borders will no longer be "safe" and of course, the classic, your guns will be taken away.... And of course, like the good little sheep they are, republican voters are promising to show up on voting day, to keep those "evil snowflakes" from taking over.
  9. Here's a little insight for those who are still claiming that Dr Ford's testimony wasn't credible because she remembers certain things, but not others. (And I think we all know who "they" are...) http://www.bbc.com/future/story/20180926-myths-about-sexual-assault-and-rape-debunked
  10. Ffffttt.....Law professors....what do they know about fitness for the Supreme Court? We've got Chuck "Keep off the" Grassley on the job....
  11. Let me preface this by saying that in no way does this guy reflect the attitudes of all Conservatives, but it does give some insight to the kind of thinking from men (and even some women) that makes it understandable that women are reluctant to come forward with sexual assault allegations: https://www.cnn.com/2018/10/03/us/brooklyn-college-professor-kavanaugh-comments-protests/index.html As bad as the above quote is, this one shows his true colors:
  12. You seem to be struggling with the question of "why didn't she come forward earlier?" If you're honestly interested in undestanding why women choose to keep these attacks to themselves, I'd suggest you go back a read every one of your posts in this thread. Your attempts to discredit Dr. Ford based on your nonexistent knowledge of psychology, coupled with the comments and actions of morons like the president of the United States and his ilk, who call her a liar absent of any actual knowledge of said incident, are a perfect example of why women are reluctant to come forward with such accusations.
  13. The sad truth is, as long as they have a judge who will vote along republican party lines (especially as it pertains to women's reproductive rights) they don't care about any of that stuff.
  14. BTW: I was glad to see the Rockies win last night. Chris Guccione gave Lester so many strikes that were off the plate, I thought the fix was in. Besides, Nolan Arenado is the best player that nobody ever talks about. I'm firmly on the Brewers-Indians World Series bandwagon, but I also wouldn't be disappointed if the Rockies won.
  15. You have to like the pitching match-up if you're a Yankees fan, but yes, in a 1 game, winner-take-all, it can be very nerve wracking. BTW: Did anyone see that odd story about Khris Davis hitting .247 for the 4th straight year? https://deadspin.com/khris-davis-hit-247-for-the-fourth-year-in-a-row-1829435582 How is that even possible?
  16. I read the first page of the report and in it, Mitchell rehashes most of the same, hackneyed issues with Ford's testimony as we heard from various GOP members who like Mitchell, (and certain CDC posters) lack professional psychology training, but still attempt to promote the theory that because Dr Ford lacks perfect recollection of certain details of the assault, her credibility is lacking overall. This "theory" has already been widely debunked, yet republicans and their supporters cling to it as if it were an AR-15. Also, the idea that Mitchell's report is unbiased is laughable. She was hired by the GOP to conduct the questioning, but her only purpose ended up being an attempt to poke holes in Dr. Ford's testimony. She didn't even question Kavanagh, yet she fells comfortable in coming to the conclusion that the only person she was allowed to question is the one that "lacks credibility". As further evidence of the partisan manner that this hearing was conducted, more than one prosecutor has already come forward in disputing Mitchell's findings, Here is one: https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2018/10/01/rachel-mitchell-says-her-kavanaugh-report-is-what-reasonable-prosecutor-would-say-its-not/?noredirect=on&utm_term=.56c070b6c897
  17. Interesting that Faux News is the only major outlet pursuing this "story".... ....of course, the ex-boyfriend's story has already been refuted by the "friend: https://www.foxnews.com/politics/christine-fords-friend-denies-being-helped-on-polygraph-fires-back-at-new-claims Lost in this attempted smokescreen by Faux (and by certain CDC posters) is the fact that the sexual assault charge is virtually unproveble, so this whole "gotcha" moment is a nothingburger. The real story is the fact that the guy up for a seat on the supreme court certainly did lie and no amount of deflection is going to change that fact. But by all means, carry on with the "neither has any credibility" mantra, if it makes you feel like you know something the rest of the world doesn't.
  18. Take it FWIW, but last night CNN ran a story about Native voters in Alaska. Apparently they are (and have been for a long time) very supportive of Lisa Murkowski. They believe that she is very aware and very considerate of issues facing native peoples. However, the ones interviewed for the story were very much against the appointment of Kavanagh and said that her support for his nomination would definitely affect how they vote going forward.
  19. And again, I'm saying that experts disagree with you. Unless you have some sort of advanced degree in the field, your opinion doesn't outweigh theirs.
  20. It was. And As I stated, even though I remember those details, I didn't remember others, such as what day of the week it was. Dr. Ford did recall specific things, such as the placement of the beds, but not other details. As has been stated several times already, this is completely normal.
  21. The fact that certain traumatic memories can be indelibly imprinted on the hippocampus, while extraneous details are not as clearly remembered, has been fairly well established, both in the plethora of news stories about this debate and here on CDC. I can point you towards that fact, but I can't understand it for you,
  22. This is the problem with amateur sleuthing....taking statements and trying to frame them in a manner that supports one's argument. All the while ignoring the simple fact that at no point did Dr. Ford assert that these actions happened simultaneously... BTW: "The truth always lies somewhere in the middle" is a convenient banality. The fact is, it's often the case that one side is being completely truthful, when the other is being less than so. Case in point: Kavanagh's assertion that witnesses had refuted Ford's allegation, when in fact, they had merely said they had no knowledge of the incident.
  23. Totally disagree. Lying to the committee and promoting a silly conspiracy theory about the Clintons exacting revenge, is more than enough to disqualify someone from sitting on the Supreme Court. Even some Republicans agree with that.
  24. One other thing that the pro-Kavanagh favction doesn't seem to understand is this idea that one has to pass out, to black out. This is not the case. In many cases, people are able to carry on conversations, demonstrate motor skills and generally function in a close to normal manner, yet when they wake up the next day, they can have zero recollection of broad swaths of time. The fact that Kavanagh can claim that he "never passed out" demonstrates absolutely nothing and certainly does not refute the possibility that he may have done something while drunk, that he honestly does not remember doing.
