The good Dr already explained your first question, so I'll concentrate on the bolded. Since this case has been in the public eye, we have seen opinions and explanations from several experts in cases of traumatic events. The consistent explanation is that the truamatic (or important) details are remembered with complete clarity, while extraneous details, (such as exact dates, time, etc.) may be hard to recall. Most of the people on this board are too young to remember Paul Henderson's goal against the Russians, but for many years, the popular phrase was "where were you when Henderson scored?". I was 11 years old in '72, but I clearly remember our teacher rolling a cart with a TV set into our classroom, so we could witness Henderson's winner. I remember the cart was made of that metal tubing, not wood. I remember that the teacher put the cart in the corner of the room, by the windows and to the right of the chalkboard. What I don't remember is the name of the teacher, of what I had for lunch that day. I don't remember that it was on a Thursday. (I had to look that up) But no-one can tell me that I "misremember" that day. It's indelibly written in my memory.

The point you seem to be missing is that pretty much everyone agrees that the sexual assault charge is impossible to prove. However, when the committee attempted to demonstrate the possibility that Kavanagh may have done some things while drunk and couldn't remember them, he chose to lie about it. He misrepresented the scope of his drinking while at college, he lied about the entries on his calendar and he repeatedly claimed that witnesses had said that the assault didn't happen. This last point is especially notable, because as a judge, he should be very clear on the difference between someone refuting a claim and someone saying they didn't see it happen. Sexual assault aside, Kavanagh lied at the hearing, was combative towards the senators questioning him and chose to promote a silly conspiracy theory, effectively stating that his accuser was lying about the entire thing, something that was in complete opposition of his earlier position that he believed Dr Ford was attacked, but by someone else. All of these points should disqualify a judge from sitting on the highest court in the land. As many have already pointed out, there are plenty of judges to choose from that will just as eagerly promote their Conservative agenda. It seems that the only reason the GOP is sticking by Kavanagh is to give the Democrats the finger. The problem with that line of thinking is that while doing so, they are also giving the middle finger to women in general.

Love the "another last ditch effort by the Dems....blah, blah...baseless innuendo...blah, blah"..... Always a good idea to stick with the Greatest Hits....

Martin is noted for making it up as he goes along. He has an idea of where he wants to end up, but no solid plan about how he gets there. He freely admits to switching gears in the middle of book four, which is why there were several main characters who were basically ignored. Book five is essentially the stuff that he couldn't fit into book five, which is why both came off a bit disjointed. I wouldn't give up on it yet. It's still an epic story and I'm confident that he'll figure it out eventually.

I think this one is important, because this time, it's a male classmate coming forward and saying that Kavanagh lied about how much he drank in College: https://www.msn.com/en-ca/news/politics/yale-classmate-accuses-kavanaugh-of-‘blatant-mischaracterization’-of-his-drinking/ar-BBNMBZ9?li=AAggNb9 I still think it's likely that BK will be confirmed, especially since Trump is limiting the scope of the FBI "investigation". (It doesn't include Kavanagh's drinking habits) Still the weight of evidence that he lied about his past, coupled with the weight of public opinion gives me hope.

Zebras doing their best to keep Oakland in this game....no way were the Browns short on that play. Then they ignore an obvious push in the back on the ensuing punt...

It's the curse of the strong arm...you believe you can squeeze the ball into any window, when the smart play is to throw it away, or just take the sack.
-
Oh Josh... I know he's just a rookie, but anyone who's thrown a dozen passes in their lifetime knows you never throw across your body, back against the grain.... ....especially when you're in FG position. 6 point swing.

BTW: Russell Martin is going to manage the Jays in their season finale at the Trop today. Should be interesting. Also saw DeMarlo going over a bunch of stuff with Pillar, so he might be the bench coach. (Or manager, if Martin gets tossed, which he totally should) -

I don't think I'll ever forget the bare handed over the shoulder catch. Right up there with Mays, and three or four by Jim Edmonds, IMHO.... Terrific player. Too bad about all the injuries. -
I've said it before, but last night it reared it's ugly head once again: Marcel De Jong should not be a starter on an MLS roster, especially one as defensively challenged already as Whitecaps FC. And WTF was up with Ghazal last night? This isn't an endorsement of Robbo, but I really hated Dalrymple's tactics yesterday. DeJong should have been substituted at halftime and they should have found a spot for Hurtado to come in as well. Kamara was game, but Mezquida was no help at all.

No major upsets yesterday....OSU-Penn St was the game of the day, but the Buckeyes held on for the win. The Cardinal lost to the Irish, but they were #7 and #8 respectively, so it's not a huge surprise (although 38-17 is a bit one sided for two evenly ranked teams) Clemson and Michigan pushed a bit by Syracuse and Northwestern respectively, but I don't expect to see a lot of movement in the polls.

For those still struggling with the fact that Dr. Ford "waited so long" to come forth, maybe this woman's experience will make things clearer for you: https://www.cnn.com/2018/09/28/opinions/kavanaugh-hearing-brought-back-assault-jennifer-taub/index.html

Several years ago, I went through the preliminary process for becoming an RCMP officer. The guy doing our orientation talked about the various things you have to go through to be accepted was blunt when it came to the polygraph test. "You can't beat it" he said. "If you lie about anything, it will be caught and you will be disqualified automatically". This was basically his way of saying that if someone had smoked a joint at some point in his or her life, they had better be forthcoming about it, because you can't fool a polygraph. The guy who conducted Dr. Blasey-Ford's test went through the process on CNN a couple of nights ago and gist is, the test is very accurate and very reliable.

See, that's why it's called "news"....you don't get to choose what they show. What you're looking for is the Cartoon Network....

This is good news.....while it lasts: https://www.cnn.com/2018/09/28/health/kentucky-abortion-law-unconstitutional/index.html Make no mistake: This is the kind of erosion of women's reproductive rights that people like Brett Kavanagh will likely support. Roe v Wade gets all the headlines, but the actual anti-abortion movement is more insidious.
-
I think this statement by Kavanagh hasn't garnered the attention that it should have: Make no mistake, this translates to "Ford is lying and is a shill for a Democratic smear campaign". There really is no other way to interpret this. So forget the whole, "I think she was attacked, just not by me" quote. That narrative has been abandoned in favor of "Ford is a liar". Meanwhile, it's been comfortably established that BK has lied about his lifestyle while in college and has been less than forthcoming about his legal opinions, especially when it concerns reproductive rights. So in a case of "He said, she said" I know who I believe, no matter how many gaskets Lindsey Graham blows.

Man...I didn't have Christian Yelich penciled in as NL MVP when the season started, but I don't see how he doesn't win it....... 34 HRs, 100+ RBI and he's probably going to win a batting title.... Jeter better hope that one or more of the guys he got for CY pans out. Otherwise this looks like the proverbial Rowboat for a Battleship trade... -
So people shouldn't have voted for Hillary, because her husband cheated on her?

All I really know about him is that he used to be a mainstay on the Canadian National team.... Kind of surprised we're not hearing Ernie Whitt's name mentioned. -
Faux News claiming "media bias" over NYT showing Ford as "calm" while Kavanagh is "angry".... http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2018/09/28/new-york-times-slammed-for-depicting-ford-as-calm-kavanaugh-as-angry-photos-are-perfect-liberal-narrative.html In other words, it's "biased" to portray things exactly as they are....

Agreed. The only things missing from that rant were the words "libtard" and "snowflake".....
