  1. Just saw the replay of yet another BS call against Clay Matthews.... ....maybe they should switch to flag football....
  2. Never been happier to be wrong...
  3. Looking at the scoreboard, it kind of looks like backwards day in the NFL. Although somehow I feel the Bills will still find a way to lose to the Vikes....
  4. I don't know if you clicked the link I posted above, but in that OU - Texas Tech game I was talking about, Baker Mayfield threw for 545 yards. Pretty impressive until you look at the TT stats and see that Mahomes had almost 200 yards more. He threw for 734 yards, with 5 TDs and a pick. (The INT was what won the game for OU) Final score was 66-59 for the Sooners and one of the most amazing displays of offense I've seen in my 57 years on this planet.
  5. Didn't get to watch the game, but my Sooners had a tough time with Army yesterday. Pretty strange to have two of your teams win in OT on the same day...
  6. This is shameful....and heartbreaking. Those that think Canada doesn't have it's own problems with racism are kidding themselves. https://www.msn.com/en-ca/news/canada/a-man-was-ignored-to-death-in-an-er-10-years-ago-it-could-happen-again/ar-AAAraC1?li=AAggNb9 It's a bit of a long read, so I've only quoted the preamble, I strongly suggest reading the entire thing. It's an example of the "casual" racism that still exists in society and I believe awareness of the problem is an important first step to solving it.
  7. And as if to underscore your point, he just hit his third HR in his last 3 ABs...
  8. Last night was a good night for sports.... ...comeback wins for the Jays, Canucks and Browns....
  9. Gotta say that as a Sooner fan, I've been watching Mayfield do this for a few years. I had my doubts that he could carry it over to the pros, but what we saw last night was what I've been watching him do for quite a while. That throw down inside the 5, that set up the winning TD was vintage Baker. A tiny window and he zipped it in there without hesitation. A bit of topic, I was looking at the success of Patrick Mahomes and wondering why his named sounded so familiar....then I remembered an epic offensive battle that I had watched between Oklahoma and Texas Tech: https://www.google.com/search?client=firefox-b&ei=6fqkW-yTHLSCk-4Ph9OuGA&q=sooners+2017+scores&oq=sooners+2017+scores&gs_l=psy-ab.3..0i22i30k1l2.6493.11633.0.11916.19.18.0.1.1.0.95.1321.18.18.0....0...1c.1.64.psy-ab..0.19.1320...0j0i67k1j0i131k1.0.maaQxPmGahI#sie=m;/g/11f541gfd7;6;/m/012hfxch;tb1;fp;1
  10. I've made my position on Serena's outburst and subsequent playing of the race/gender card clear, but this is just completely tone deaf: https://www.msn.com/en-ca/news/world/australian-football-players-wear-blackface-to-dress-up-like-serena-williams/ar-BBNzqmD?li=AAggFp5 I'm sure the rest of the country appreciate these three clowns for perpetuating this image of Australians....
  11. Agree totally. Haven't been much interested in the NBA since I cheered for the Malone-Stockton Jazz and the Steve Nash Suns....
  12. Probably why there's no pro football team in Utah.....
  13. It seems to me that you're in agreement that it was a poor decision by the 'Hawks, AJ. We're in agreement on that. I understand how some might take umbrage at the idea that Seattle lost the game, rather than New England winning it, but all of that aside, the clock management angle just doesn't hold water. I do tend to agree with c00kies' assessment that teams sometimes overthink these situations. I also think that it's true that everyone on the planet expected Beat Mode to get the ball in that situation, but the fact is, everyone expected him to get it on first down as well and he got 4 yards on the play. The Pats' had a solid defense, but IMHO opinion, there's no way that they stop Lynch twice in a row when he only needs a single yard. It was a stupid call..
  14. Who cares who it was that made the call.....despite what the article says, it was a stupid call. If you're worried about the clock, you have Beast Mode plow into the line one more time and in the extremely unlikely scenario that he's unsuccessful, you spike the ball to stop the clock and then decide what you want to do on 4th down. (IMO, you give it to Lynch again) I understand how Pats fans would want to make this less about a bad play call and more about how "deserving" New England was, but it was a brutal play call, no matter who made it.
  15. The difference in sets played works out to a (theoretical) 40% difference. I'm no statistician, but those numbers seem to show a bigger discrepancy than that....
  16. Personally, I think a changing of party affiliation by a sitting MP should automatically trigger a by-election....
  17. Say what you will about the Liberals, or any party, for that matter....this kind of thing irks me: https://www.msn.com/en-ca/news/parliamenthill/mp-leona-alleslev-leaves-liberal-caucus-crosses-floor-to-conservatives/ar-BBNtcOp?li=AAggNb9&ocid=sf We all have to follow our conscience Leona, but the fact is, the people who voted you into office did not vote for a Conservative MP...
  18. I can't hit it that straight with two hands....
  19. Came across this story on MSN and it's very disturbing: https://www.msn.com/en-ca/news/canada/canada-betrays-its-own-citizens-hassan-diabs-case-is-among-its-most-egregious-neil-macdonald/ar-BBNlYVl?li=AAggNb9 As Rob (and others) have pointed out, as bad as things are south of the border, we as Canadians, have several things that we need to clean up as well.... I know 2014 is pre-Trudeau, however, this isn't meant as an indictment on any particular government. I'm just saying that as a country, we need to take a long, hard look at our legal system. This should never have happened and as far as I can tell, there's nothing to stop it from happening again.
  20. Take this FWIW, because I might be his biggest fan outside of Norman and Cleveland.... ....I've always felt that smaller quarterbacks have a huge uphill battle in the NFL, even very mobile QBs. Russel Wilson seems to have bucked the trend, but as much as I cheer for Baker, I've often wondered if he'll make it as an NFL QB. I hope he does, because even though he's cocky, he's a lot of fun to watch.
  21. As a Sooners fan, I'll be cheering for the Browns whenever Mayfield plays. (as long as they aren't playing Buffalo)
  22. Just watched some highlights of Canada vs. Brazil in World Cup Basketball qualifying and wow, did Kelly Olynyk look good. One replay showed him make a massive rejection at the bucket, rescue the ball before it went out of play and then dribble the length of the floor, before pulling up and nailing a three.... Canada won 85-77 to move to 6-1 in Group F, (tied with Venezuela) but things get interesting from here on in. With NBA camps starting up soon, Team Canada will have to play the rest of it's qualifying matches without it's NBA stars. Should be interesting...
  23. Ffffttt.....Bills fan here..... ....you guys got nuthin'.....
