  1. The real irony here is a lot of the people doing the bashing are the same people whining in the Trump thread about people criticizing "every little thing" that Trump does.
  2. Maybe. The point was that he wasn't found not guilty because you are allowed to use deadly force on someone committing property crime against you.
  3. Wrong. He's a free man because the jury bought the story about the gun going off accidentally. Not because it's okay to shoot someone for trying to steal your property.
  4. They weren't being attacked. They were being robbed. Like The Lock said: Stuff can be replaced. A life cannot.
  5. I know it's a popular sentiment in incidents like this for people to think of themselves as Clint Eastwood in Gran Torino, but I'm of the opinion that reaching for a firearm when faced with a property crime is a bad idea. There's a very real chance that someone ends up dead (as happened in this case) and it's not necessarily always going to be the bad guy...
  6. There is none and to be clear, I'm not making a judgement myself. That being said, I have been witness to systemic racism against First Nations peoples and I think the fact that not a single FN juror was approved contributes heavily to the opinions of those who believe that justice was not served in this particular case.
  7. I think you're mistaking the reason for the controversy. No-one is saying that Bouchie was murdered because he was First Nations. They're saying he didn't get justice because he's First Nations.
  8. We don't need a fence. All we need is a sign at every border crossing saying "Welcome to the Socialist Dominion of Canada". The Yanks will be too chicken to cross the road.
  9. Problem is, he only had to "defend his family" because he decided to defend his property first and like a lot of the cowboys in this thread, it appears, his first reaction was to use a gun to do so. If he had stayed in his house and called police, as the police would undoubtedly advise, no-one would be dead. Only misses us by about 800 miles, but thanks for thinking of us poor, destitute North Coasters...
  10. Wow. For a guy who spends a lot of time defending Donald Trump, you're digging awfully deep for something to criticize Trudeau over. FTR: I too disagree that he was criticizing the jury's decision.
  11. The Beaverton had the best line about that... It was a mock poll about "people with whom Justin Trudeau is most popular........people outside of Canada"... Even though it was tongue in cheek, it was very accurate, if this thread is anything to go by.
  12. Mostly not. At least in my experience. But if it makes you feel better about your claim that everyone picks on Trump unfairly, then carry on...
  13. Disagree. Trump and his cronies give them fresh horses to beat on an almost daily basis... The "jokes" this week are about defending a wife beater. Last week's were about a grown man wanting to play toy soldiers.
  14. Spurs beat Gunners in NL Derby! Have fun in Europa League, Arsene....
  15. Gotta agree with Reggie when it comes to Betts. Great player and I wish he was a Jay... I've also always been a big fan of Longo. And although they're not really rivals, Altuve and/or Correa could play for me any time.
  16. He must have been promised the head coaching job when Belichick retires, because he's never going to get another HC offer from a team other than the Patriots.
  17. There was a case for overturning the first one, but I think they got the call right in the end. By saying that "the call stands" they're saying there wasn't enough to overturn the call, which IMO, was the right call. But if you think they got the call wrong on the Ertz touchdown, you have a poor understanding of the rules. (BTW: Not an Eagle fan)
  18. Chip brought up a really good point regarding clock management and towards the end of the game, I was wondering what both coaches were thinking. The call for the fade pass by the Eagles was dumb in so many ways. First of all, there's a good chance of it being picked off. Secondly, it took zero time off the clock. To make things worse, I was watching the play clock and the ball was snapped with 16 seconds left. Chip is right about the Pats though. Why on earth do you spend a time out with 2:03 remaining? BB is one of the top coaches of all time, but that was inexplicable.
  19. Gratz to Chip and xbox.Thorooughly enjoyed that game. I gotta say, I didn't like the Eagles chances when they gave the Pats a chance to come back with so much time on the clock. That strip came at the perfect time.
