If I was Shatkins, I'd send Ohtani a tape showing how much they like immigrants and minorities in Texas... Gotta fight dirty. -

My money is on the Dodgers. Ohtani is going to want to hit, so signing with an NL team seems likely. Combine that with the Dodgers making it to the WS this year, their (seemingly) unlimited budget and as you say, their west coast location, I see a fit. If an AL team managed to land him, I wonder if you'd see him play 4 games in the outfield and then start on the 5th? I can't imagine teams wanting to risk one of their top arms, trying to gun out baserunners from the warning track, but all bets seem to be off with this guy.... -
Happy to be proven wrong. I didn't expect yet another huge choke by the Stamps, but hey, they've been pretty consistent over the past few years. The fumble was bad, but at least that was a physical mistake. Throwing that deep ball was right up there with Maas last week and Carroll in the Super Bowl 2 years ago....
-
Lets go Argos...? Although I expect the Stamps to win easily. The real Grey Cup was played last weekend, IMO...

So, I was confident with the Sooners playing at home, but I didn't expect them to dominate the Mountaineers the way they did. Another 50+ points for Mayfield's offense has to put him in the front of the Heisman race... Meanwhile, with Miami losing yesterday and Auburn knocking off 'Bama today, there's a very real chance that my Sooners go into the Big 12 championship game against the Horned Frogs, the #1 team in the nation. They still have to take care of business against TCU, but a spot in the playoffs is looking good. The real question for me is do the Badgers get into the top 4? My guess is that it depends on what they do against the Buckeyes next week....

JD and Stro are the two pieces that would fetch the Jays the most return. Since it looks as though Vlady Jr. and Bichette are still a few years away, I might advocate moving these pieces for young, talented major league ready players. (I know Stro fits that bill, but I see him as a "Sell high" kind of asset. I'm just not sold on a pitcher that small and I also believe there are some attitude issues there) -
Yep. Such a happy day....especially for Americans who happen to live in Puerto Rico...

TBH Chip, I didn't like the decision, but in my wildest dreams, I didn't expect it to blow up in their faces like that. I'm guessing McDermott feels like a porn star after a facial like that....

5 picks? Nice call, coach...
-
It was a cracker for sure, but GOTY? Not in my book. Nico's bicycle kick goal to bury FC Dallas was better, IMHO....
-
Was hoping for an upset from Virginia or the Wolverines, but it doesn't look like that's going to happen....
-
And I'm totally down with that. I just didn't expect it to be this long....

To be fair, when your dad runs his mouth constantly like Lavar does, people are going to want to tear you down. I think the kids will be fine. There's a lot of talent there and these guys have to be mentally tough growing up with a father like that. Gotta wonder what possesses someone to shoplift in a country where human rights are an afterthought, though...

@SabreFan1: What do you think of the Bills' QB shuffle for this week? I couldn't watch the Saints game because I was traveling, but was Tyrod really that bad? (The one pick I saw on the highlight package was the receiver's fault) I have to assume that at the very least, Peterman will be on a short leash...

All straight from the Central/South American playbook, amirite? I haven't been following SA qualifying. Since we all know that Brazil and Argentina are pretty much automatic, who else is going? (Besides Peru, of course) -

I saw highlights of the first leg as well and it looked like that game could have gone much the same way, if it hadn't been for the Irish 'Keeper. The Danes certainly look like the might do some damage. -
So with Georgia losing, 'Bama will likely take over top spot. The good news is, with their win over the Horned Frogs and the Irish getting thumped by Miami, Oklahoma should sneak into a playoff position. What should be a cakewalk coming up on Saturday at Kansas and then one more tough one at home to West Virginia on the 25th. Don't expect any movement at the top of the rankings this weekend, as the top four teams all have easy match-ups. Best game looks like the #5 Badgers hosting the Wolverines, who at 8-2, are ranked 24th and will likely see this as a playoff game.

I want to get excited about the Italians being out, but since the Dutch aren't going either.... I'll be cheering for England, I suppose, although I usually jump on the bandwagon of a longshot like Iceland... -
Looks like at least one College President gets it: http://www.mdjonline.com/news/ksu-reverses-course-to-allow-cheerleaders-back-on-field-during/article_d254e634-c4ce-11e7-9076-9380dd4327b0.html

I think it's pretty much a foregone conclusion that Freddie's spot will be filled by some combination of Shea, Mezquida and Davies. We'd all better hope that at least one of them can generate the same kind of chemistry with Reyna that Montero did...

That's a good one. Another would be "stopper". I remember hearing once how he had this incredible record of stopping losing streaks... Just terrible news... -

I really believe that he'll end up in the NL. A guy like him is going to want to swing the bat and that will only happen in the Senior Circuit. LA/SF seem like the likely bets, but I could see both the Nats and the Cubbies opening their wallets for this guy. Personally, I'm pulling for the former Expos... -
BTW: What was up with the Raiders' receivers last night? Was there a pig greasing competition right before the game? 'Grats to Carr for not losing it on his guys and still getting it done, despite his teammates' efforts to keep the Phish in the game.

I was playing hockey on Sunday, so I missed everything. The replay they were showing sure made it look bad on AJ, but knowing the player, I have to believe something pretty significant happened before he went off... Who'd have thought before the season started that the Rams and Eagles would look like solid NFC champion bets? For sure, the Cowboys will have something to say, but right now, you have to like Philly and LA's chances....
