  1. I think the pertinent question here is how many of them were traded to teams with zero chance of making the playoffs?
  2. Before he played a game in the NHL.....But okay....if you need an example of a rebuild that didn't take a decade, look at the Penguins in the mid-oughts. I reject this premise that trading guys like Miller and Boeser and hanging on to our picks means the team has to suck for a decade.....
  3. The past 4 years..... Seriously, I think you're wrong, but I fervently hope that it's me who's mistaken. More than anything, I hate this trade because it just might push us out of the Bedard sweepstakes.
  4. I really have to take issue with this narrative that a rebuild means you can't possibly win for a decade or more....or that Petey and Hughes can't possibly be part of it.... Take a look at who had the 1st overall pick in 2020....and look where they are now....
  5. I don't really GAF what JR was brought here for. I'm 62 and I've been watching mediocre Canuck teams for about 50 of those years. I really hope you're right about being competitive in 2-3 years, but I don't think you are....
  6. This is the only hope I have.... If PA can flip Miller + for that 1st and second back, then all will be forgiven....
  7. No. I've been following for all 52 seasons. I'm tired of being content with just making the playoffs. I want the team to be a true contender once again. IMO, you don't get there by trading away draft picks just to make yourself a playoff bubble team.... Anyway. This is getting redundant. I've made several posts about why I don't like this deal and why I want a rebuild. I can't explain myself any more clearly and if some folks still can't see why, then I can't help you. I honestly hope that I'm wrong and all of you who like this trade are right.....but I don't think that's the case.
  8. Why? So we can finish 8 spots out of the basement instead of 3 or 4? It might have been a "priority" for some, but not me. As I said, I've seen this movie many times. It always ends up with us in the playoffs, but not a true contender. The last time we were a true contender is when Burkie moved players and got us the 2nd and 3rd picks....
  9. Nope. Already said in several threads that they're the two untouchables. Also mentioned that Kuz has to be in that group as well, otherwise we wouldn't have extended him.
  10. You mean as opposed to what they're going through right now? They're pros. They get how the business works and I'd wager they'd prefer being a true contender in 5 years, over a bubble team in 2....
  11. Stop pretending that everyone had the same opinion on this.... Many of us who hate this deal weren't saying squat about RHD. We wanted an effing rebuild.
  12. I guess we differ on that front. Trading that pick, plus a 2nd, for a pending RFA whose addition is likely going to devalue our own first rounder is something I care about....
  13. It also does nothing to address the fact that this is one of the deepest drafts in recent memory and we needed all the draft picks we had....
  14. Exactly. Just perpetuating the never ending cycle of mediocrity..... Last time I was this pissed at Canucks management is when we signed Miller and Vrbata the year before McDavid was drafted....
  15. Only speaking for myself, but my issue is that it isn't bad enough.... We've done the "retool" thing several times.....unsuccessfully.... With where we are in the standings and the depth of the upcoming draft there's no way we should be trading picks.
