  1. Let me preface this by saying that I don't like the Pats and I like their poor-winner fans even less, (in case some of you weren't already aware ) but I think four games for this is ridiculous. The league is making an example of Brady because he "didn't co-operate" . Meanwhile the league is full of spousal and child abusers...
  2. I don't understand how not clicking on spoiler tags is so difficult. The old spoiler thread is buried away and since the series and books are close as far as timelines go, it doesn't make much sense to have two threads. What post has "spoiled" something for you?
  3. Yeah, you can't really fault the Jays for that one. (It was JP Riccardi wasn't it?) Drabek looked like a sure thing at the time and as I recall it, the Jays turned down a deal from the Red Sox that would have sent Clay Buchholz to T.O., holding out for a "better" deal, which most observers thought they got from the Phillies.
  4. Most people who follow the series closely were pretty sure Jorah was going to fill JC's shoes in saving Tyrion and contracting Greyscale. It was the bit about traveling through Valyria, instead of the Sorrows that we weren't sure about, although it too seemed a safe bet, since The Sorrows is hundreds of miles behind them on the Rhoyne...
  5. I agree. That trade looked great at the time and only 20/20 hindsight might have changed my mind.
  6. In my mind, Ricky's inexplicable decline and the fact that Drabek never reached anywhere close to what was expected are major factors that have held the Jays back for the past several years. Imagine adding two solid, middle of the rotation starters to the roster with Jose and Eddie in their prime. The Jays might have been a playoff team a few of those seasons.
  7. Ricky is gone. Even though the Jays still owe him huge money, they gave him his outright release last month. http://www.torontosun.com/2015/04/25/blue-jays-release-struggling-pitcher-ricky-romero
  8. I agree. I can't see the writers leaving Tyrion out of an entire season. He's easily the most popular of the show's characters. TBH, the whole Bran and the three-eyed raven arc was my least favorite in both the books and the series. It bothers me not at all that we haven't (and likely won't) see him this season. Warning: If you don't want to know for sure, don't click.
  9. Couldn't watch the game...obviously a 3-nil win is something to feel good about (even against the Union) but TSN's highlight package was a bit confusing.... Did Ousted make that huge save when it was still scoreless?
  10. Do you honestly believe that posting a trash talking meme about a win that you wouldn't have if it hadn't been for the dumbest play call in 50 years, is how you "get the blind haters off your back"? I don't think you really thought that through...
  11. No. Not unless you have a PhD in Revisionist History.
  12. And it's posts like this that makes the rest of us despise the Pats and especially their fans. That being said, I said it at the time and I'll say it now, Deflategate is a non-story for me.
  13. Ralph Klein: "We'll see an NDP government in Alberta when Hell freezes over!"
  14. Wednesday? Would that be the Canada Cup (or whatever they call it) game against Edmonton?
  15. He gets one of his yellows rescinded thanks to staying clean last night. Still, the 'Caps as a whole make far too many risky tackles. I'll be surprised if they don't lead the league in bookings.
  16. The scary thing is, I think we can. Imagine if Waston gets hurt....
  17. I wouldn't go quite that far...(Nelly Cruz is currently on pace for 88 HRs) but he and Travis are certainly up there. The thing I'm starting to notice about the Jays (and it's not good) is that every team seems to have a guy they just can't get out....Adam Jones for the O's, Markakis for the Braves, Longo for the Rays, Ortiz for the Red Sox and now Brantley for the Indians.... As Alice said, curiouser and curiouser...
  18. I did. 'Caps were very lucky to get a point out of that game. The Timbers hit a post on a PK (a deserved penalty) and missed a header from a few yards out. I can't think of a single decent chance for Vancouver all game. Take that point and run...
  19. Albers sure made an impression in his first action with the Jays...and not in a good way. Things are definitely on the bleak side when MB can't get out of the 4th... I'm assuming that Pompey's demotion will coincide with Joey Bats returning to RF.
  20. I have a good friend, formerly from North London. He gets up early to watch his Spurs play (and hopefully to watch the Gunners lose) but still enjoys watching the 'Caps, as well as TFC and Montreal when they're on. He's a Tottenham fan through and through, but he's a football fan first.
  21. There was an interesting bit in the little speech by Davos to Jon. He has Olly recite the NW oath, singling out the section where they say "we guard the realms of men"....
  22. She told Pod the whole "Brienne the Beauty story and how it broke her teenage heart back in the day... She also apologized to him for being such a hag and promised to start training him with the sword.
  23. Didn't think much of the SFX, but it was fun watching Janos lose his head...The "GJ" by Stannis was cool too.
