Yeah. Reading the comments by Gibby and Martin, they don't seem to be too concerned. For me, it's about confidence. I think a save will reassure him that his stuff is good enough to win games. Another blown save right away could have him second-guessing himself and trying to be too fine with his pitches. I think that's what the Jays need to avoid. -

I think it was a foregone conclusion that Castro was going to have some hiccups along the way. I think that's just part of the bargain when you make a rookie your closer. Gibby says he's not going to change anything at this point, but I think MC really needs a save to get his confidence back and the sooner the better. -

To be fair, it was the pen that blew the lead for him in his first start. But I agree. His best days are behind him. Good on the Mets for realizing this and getting D'Arnaud for him. -
I had no idea that there was a fault line between Nepal and India...I always thought that mountainous, landlocked countries were relatively safe from earthquakes. I do however, remember that India was once an island, before continental drift slammed it into the Asian mainland. I'm guessing that the fault lies there. Unfortunately, this disaster is going to be much worse than it could have been, because of substandard building practices.

Yep. "What's that you say? A speedy outfielder who can field his position pretty well and hit a few points above the Mendoza Line?" "Yeah, I don't think we'll have too much trouble replacing one of those..." -

I think they knew all along that Travis could hit. (probably not like this though) The question was could he field his position. So far, the answer is yes. The slow turf might be helping, but whatever. The Jays have to be extremely happy with that trade. -
I liked it as well, but I can't stop myself from poking holes is D & D's adaptation. Case in point: Jaqen tells Arya that he's indebted to her. Gives her a Bravosi coin and tells her "If you ever need me...." So Arya shows up at the House of B&W and he tells her to get lost. She's a young girl in a city she doesn't know, with cutthroats and Bravos all over the place. She's a survivor, but a pretty shoddy way to treat someone who saved you from burning alive. Also, Jaqen's promise to her was "Three deaths. No more. No less." I'm pretty sure there was more than one guard at the gates of Harrenhal...

Pompey had a good night last night, but there was a lot of that going around. I wouldn't be surprised to see him sent down, when Saunders returns. It seems pretty obvious that KP is a good enough outfielder to play center. With a big lead either way? Probably. This is personal and the way Jose stared into the O's dugout before heading back to his own, tells me this thing is not over. If I'm Gibby, Adam Jones takes one in the ribs today. He's getting on base every time anyways. Might as well make it painful. -
Yeah. That's just nuts...

That was a pretty impressive comeback. The encouraging thing was that it was guys like Bautista, Donaldson and Martin that got the clutch hits for a change... -

It's too bad about Redmond, but Hendriks looks like he can handle the role of long reliever. They might give Hynes and extra inning or so every once in a while, especially against lineups with a lot of lefties... -

One of those "good news/bad news" things... It's bad to have the heart of your order slumping like that, but to be over .500 as a team while they do is encouraging. Imagine where they'll be when those bats wake up. -
TBH, I've read the books more than once, (I bought the first three when they were originally released back in the mid-90s) but it hasn't really really diminished my enjoyment of the series at all. Like all situations where a book is taken to the screen, there are things about the book that I prefer, but when you look at the series for what it is instead of comparing it to the books, it's extremely enjoyable, IMHO.

I think Gibby was hoping that Hutch could get through the 5th so he could pick up the W. -

Jiminez was dominant yesterday. That is going to happen from time to time. I actually thought that Sanchez did well to limit the damage. The way the O's were knocking him around, I thought giving up only three was a minor victory. Unfortunately, Redmond came in and poured a few gallons of gasoline on the fire. Hendriks was pretty good, but it was far too late by the time he was brought in. In any event, if Hutch can pick up another W tonight against Tillman, it will be a successful road trip. Sweeps are great if you can get them, but the goal is to win the series. -
As bad as the officiating was, I doubt it made any difference. The 'Caps didn't generate anything last night. This match was every bit as bad as the LA match was good. I have to wonder at the substitutions by Robinson. In what planet was Manneh outplaying Mattocks last night? Kekuta looked lost out there. On the one decent chance he generated with his speed, he managed to dribble himself out of possession deep inside the 18 yard box and never got a shot off. I suppose they were due for a clunker. The one surprise for me was that for once, it wasn't Wando that did us in...

Tough start for Sanchez....3 batters faced, two home runs... -
I think you're correct. We've seen a steady influx of youth lately and I think it's all part of the plan. The downside is that the 'Caps will likely have to live with some "rookie" mistakes and at the back end, those have a way of finding the onion bag...

Honestly, I was at a loss to understand why O'Brien was not re-signed. He was the definition of solid for me. I thought that Robinson might have an answer that maybe we fans weren't aware of, but at this point, it isn't apparent to me.

It would be great, but truth be told, I'm more than happy with KW. His dominance in the air in the Caps' box has paid dividends already and will continue to do so for quite some time.. One of the best signings in team history, IMHO.

I read a story a while back about that. (I think it was by Shi Davidi) He basically talked about how that demotion was a wakeup call for Pillar and that after some introspection, KP realized he had messed up and put himself ahead of the team. He rededicated himself at that point and waited for his next opportunity. When the Jays recalled him, he didn't start crushing the ball right away, but you might remember that he was getting a lot of playing time in center (thanks to the benching of Rasmus) and he started to show signs that he could be an excellent defensive outfielder. This spring, he carried on and even started to hit. Last night, he showed that his defense is still improving with one of the best catches of this young MLB season. Like you, I was disgusted with Pillar's antics before his demotion last season, but looking at the way he's dealt with it and turned things around, I'm definitely willing to forgive and forget. My hat is off to KP for taking a bad situation and turning it into a good one. That doesn't always happen with "attitude" players. -
That's some pretty impressive photoshop skills there Deb. You've been taking lessons from Toni, haven't you?
