That's what you get for betting against the Bills.... As a long time Buffalo fan, I can tell you that a good rule of thumb is to bet on them when you think they're going to lose, and bet against them in a game that you think they should win... Going into games this season, I liked their chances against the Texans and Chargers (San Diego traveling cross country for an early game)....not so much against the Bears, the Phish and the the Lions....

I think that when a team is in a tough stretch, the fanbase tends to adopt a "sky is falling" attitude. In some ways, it's understandable, (Starting QB, #1 RB, #2 receiver all gone...) but Kevin Glenn has experience and that does count for something. Throughout his career, he's seen it all: losing streaks, injuries, rookie coaches... IMO, Glenn has what it takes to win, but he can't do it on his own. The Leos have to get a positive contribution from the running game. Harris is out, so that means it's up to Logan to take the pressure off of KG's arm. If Logan can't go, it's up to Wally and Shivers to find someone who can. Yesterday, a guy I'd never even heard of racked up 220 total yards against the Bombers. The guys are out there, you just have to find them and over his career Roy Shivers has been pretty good at doing just that. The real key is going to be the O-line. If they can't open up holes for the RB or give the QB three steamboats, it won't matter if we have the second comings of Barry Sanders and Joe Montana in the backfield.

Agree 100%. I really liked Pitch Black, was disappointed in Chronicles and thought Riddick was a bit of a redemption. The "head in the box" scene was so over the top ridiculous, it was kind of cool and the premise was similar to PB, so it just had to be better than Chronicles. Worth watching for sure.

I hear a lot about this "finding God" thing.... For an omnipotent entity he sure gets lost a lot....

I remember those super bowl losses and all the losing seasons that have followed. Honestly, the only ones that really hurt years later are the "wide right" game against the Giants and the "Music City Miracle" which I will go to my grave saying was a forward lateral...

People are funny that way. I seem to remember a few people getting their knickers in a twist when Torts said he was cheering for Team Sweden....

It was nice to see the Pats destroyed by the Chiefs yesterday, but after Manuel's brutal performance against the Texans, it's hard to get too excited... Thus starts the Kyle Orton era in Buffalo.

Nope. They'd have the last eastern spot. Unless the rule has changed...

Couldn't have gone much better for the Caps. A win vs RSL and TFC comes back from 2 nil down to beat the Timbers at BMO...

Pretty sure one of them was from Airdrie, too.... Disappointing loss, but the fans in Winnipeg (and Heretic) have to be shaking their collective heads about taking a time count violation with the game on the line against the Ti-Cats.

I thought the same thing. Then at the end of the game, one of the Stamps takes a cheap shot at KG and then gets in his face when he lobbies for a (deserved) penalty call. The zebra is right in the middle of the entire thing, but leaves the hanky in his pocket. I don't think there's much doubt that the Leos are starting to get the Alex Burrows treatment.

[Official] Toronto Blue Jays Major League Baseball thread
RUPERTKBD replied to The Stork's topic in Off-Topic General
Going to be a lot of questions with the Jays this off season: Can they re-sign Melky? I think this should be priority #1. The Jays hit a lot of dingers, but they manufacture almost none. Why? Because they don't get on base enough. (especially the bottom third of the order) Melky is the best pure hitter they have and losing him would leave a giant hole in the lineup. (just as it did after his injury) Who's on second? With a tip of the cap to Shaky for that hilarious meme, the question is, can the Jays live with the light hitting Goins at second. The kid's got a glove, but barely hits his weight. That could be a big issue, in the big hitting AL east. Can they move either Dickey or Beuhrle? Both had decent numbers this season, but both are expensive and 14 and 13 wins respectively is not particularly good bang for your buck. The Jays are going to need money to re-sign Melky and (hopefully) a front of the rotation pitcher. Is Sanchez a closer? It's almost a foregone conclusion that Janssen will be gone and the Jays probably won't have the money to sign a closer. It looked suspiciously like Sanchez was getting a long look in that scenario, once the Jays had been eliminated. Closer by committee is another possibility. Cecil looked terrific as a setup guy and could conceivably finish a game, especially against a predominantly lefty lineup. What to do about the bottom of the order? Rasmus won't be back, so it looks like Gose and Pillar will get significant time in the outfield. I have no problem with either defensively, but their bats are where rallies go to die. Maybe Pompey can continue doing what he's doing now, but you have to remember, the kid started the season in A ball and will be playing in the Arizona Instructional league this winter. Making a MLB lineup the following season, seems like an awfully tall order. To summarize: The Jays future looks pretty bright. Stroman, Sanchez, Norris and Hutch look like the makings of an excellent rotation. Pompey looks to be the next fixture in center field. The problem is, guys like Joey Bats, Lind and Edwin are the present. AA has to be concerned about not wasting those players' final years, while waiting for the young guys to develop. I think the Jays are going to have to be busy once again on the trade front this off-season. Good luck Alex. You'll need it. -
I've heard that every time a terrible movie gets made in Hollywood, Cage and Keanu Reeves both get a royalty... Hey Hodor, one of my favorite Halloween flicks is 13 Ghosts.A bit of a different take on the horror genre, but I thought it was pretty good. Might be worth checking out.

I knew someone would take it personally. Fill your boots, I suppose.

Not often I find myself cheering for the Bears, but last night was one of those times. BTW: Maybe it's time you guys started up a Fantasy Football thread. No offense, but I'm here to talk football and I don't really care how you did with your fantasy team, or if you're still alive in your survivor pool...

Damn! There goes the Bills' perfect season. I knew we were in trouble when Shultzie took the Bills in Risky Business...

Camillo "wanted to be here"? Did I miss something? The way I remember it, he reneged on a contract and signed in Mexico, despite loud protests from management. I agree that Lenarduzzi's tenure has been one of blunder after blunder, but I don't think we can blame him for the departure of Camillo. That one was on the player, IMHO...

"And there was much rejoicing"

I can no longer read that any other way than "Lets go Chah-juhs!" picturing the Governator as I do so... On another note I'd just like to savor the phrase: "First place Bills" for a few minutes. It's been a long time

Ambien is right. Statistics show that NFL players are less inclined to this sort of violent behavior than the average American citizen is. While we all deplore the actions of Peterson and Rice, we can't be painting the entire league with the same brush. The vast majority of NFL players are not like this. The problem is, the high profile nature of these incidents make it seem worse than it is. The Aaron Hernandez and Michael Vick stories are plastered all over the news for months...then you have Paxico Burress accidentally shooting himself and the entire league gets a black eye. That being said, with an organization that is in the public eye so much, the league has to consider the optics of the situation and at least appear to care. For better or worse, NFL players are role models and the league has to show young people who may be influenced by their behavior that such actions are unacceptable. Actually addressing the root causes of these incidents may be jut too tall an order for a for profit organization to accomplish. In light of that, fines and suspensions will be handed down if for nothing more than to keep up appearances.

Obviously his nickname is going to be "BoLo"... and get ready for all the "BoLo knows" ads. Future replacement for Bighill or Sol?
