I saw that TSN did a segment of virtual hand-wringing about the "poor Roughriders"... Meanwhile, the Leos have had their starter for less than a single game this year.
-
Where they belong. Moving the Bills to TO would have sucked out loud.
-
A lot of teams suffering from early-season communication issues. Just from quick glances at games and highlights, I saw two interceptions that were the result of receivers not picking up on audibles from the QB....

As much as I hate seeing the Phish and the Jets win, I have to say that I like the sound of "the last place Patriots".... Dolphins coming to the Ralph next Sunday. C'mon boys, gotta control Cam Wake.

Yeah, it's nice to see them coming together, but they probably left it about two weeks too late. There are just too many teams they have to leapfrog to make the post season. Gotta say though, it was nice to see Colby contribute last night after having been banished to the bench for the remainder of the season. -
I'd call that a good guess.

Could be worse......his last name could be Hunt.... I watched Saving Mr. Banks this weekend, not because I particularly wanted to, but because there was literally nothing else on. Since my expectations weren't all that high, I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised. Hanks was pretty good as Uncle Walt, but Emma Thompson nailed the part of a PL Travers. The rest of the cast was good too, especially Paul Giamatti who plays the ever-optimistic driver, Ralph. Solid 7 from me.

Tabby^ Someone else has to post a new one. Can't do it on this browser.

Honestly, I think they might as well scrap this rule. According to the TSN color guy, (Suitor?) "they will only overturn the call if it is obvious". As a guy who has officiated hundreds of games myself, that was obvious, as was the tug on Ianuzzi's shoulder pads a couple of weeks ago. I honestly don't understand this cowardly interpretation of the rules. You have the opportunity to get the call right. Stop hiding behind the real-time call, which doesn't have the benefit of slo-mo and multiple angles. Typical CFL half-assed decision making....

Good pickup for the Riders, but I have to confess that I was hoping he'd accept the offer from Ottawa. Burris needs all the help he can get...

I agree. The Jays were done after the sweep by the Mariners, although I'd argue that the death blow was when Edwin, Lawrie and Lind were lost to injury. Not that it's an excuse. The Yankees were missing most of their rotation all season and have hung in better than Toronto. I'm jumping on the M's bandwagon and will be pulling for the Nats in the Senior Circuit. -
I think at some point, we have to give the Riders credit. They completely shut down the Leos' running game and I think we all know that Glenn is not going to win many games against good CFL teams with his arm. The good news is, (and I admit there isn't much good that can be taken from that game) the Lions are done with the Riders and in light of their 13 pt victory in week 5, hold the tie breaker. It's virtually a certainty that 4th place in the West is going to be better than 3rd in the East, so one could argue that the crossover team has an easier path to the grey Cup than the top three Western teams. BC has two more games against Winnipeg this season. It's my opinion that these games will go a long way towards deciding the Leos' fate, but to be within striking distance of 4th after playing the entire first half of the season without your starting QB is not the end of the world.

Wow, that was a disappointing game last night. Tuned in a few minutes late and the 'Caps are already down a goal... I did get to see the second Galaxy goal and I have to say that although I'm an O'Brien fan, he looked lost on that one. Just as I was starting to wonder why they even bothered signing Waston if they weren't going to play him, he comes on and helps set up the only decent chance for the Whitecaps in the game. A chance that Mattocks (predictably) misses. Thanks god the boys are coming home for three in a row. They look like a different team on the road and not in a good way.

Well Yogi's lines never did make a lot of sense... About a famous NYC restaurant: "Nobody goes there anymore. It's too crowded".... I agree. In this case, I agree with AA. Giving up any of those guys would have crippled the Jays' future and wouldn't have guaranteed them anything. -

Yogi would have something to say about that.... -
I usually don't dump on football officials, because I've done a few hundred games myself, but that one was getting a bit ridiculous. The "no yards" calls were totally one sided, the ref with the best view of Logan's TD doesn't make the call, but the guy screened by half the players on the field does, then the Leos get flagged for delay of game, despite the ref not making any official announcement on the booth review... But the kicker for me was the PI review. "Not enough evidence"? Did they not see Marco's shoulder pads? That was the proverbial smoking gun... On another front: I gotta say that Ronnie "The Rebel" Yell is impressing me more and more each game. It could just come down to him and Bazzie for the ROY.

A win is great, but it was frustrating to watch Gibby with the early hook. Buehrle pitching well, in front of a crowd who was cheering him more than the home team and with 2 on he gets pulled, despite stranding baserunners all game. Enter McGowan to throw gas on the fire and there goes his chance for a win. I realize that it's all about winning games, but it's also about team morale and MB needed a win, not just a quality start and a no decision.... -
Damn! Redblacks had the Eskies and let them up off the canvas. Shaking my head at the TSN "analyst" who's calling Chris Jones the coach of the year. Great start to the season, but when your team barely breaks single digits against the worst team in the league and needs an opposition fumble in order to make it happen, it might not be the ideal time to be pumping the coach's tires....

Melky has to be priority #1, but he won't come cheap. I think the Jays will have to pony up around 15 million, for 4 or 5 years to get him to re-up. I think Rasmus will be gone, so for those of you who aren't fans of Anthony Gose, I have bad news..... The Jays will likely decide to find a new 2nd baseman. Goins has a great glove, but his career arc at this point looks to be Johnny Mac 2.0. We all seem to forget that Maicer Isturis had a great start to the season, before being lost to injury so the Jays may want to try him again, but I wouldn't be surprised to see them attempt to bring Aaron Hill back to T.O. As far as pitching goes, I could see AA attempting to move Dickey, Buehrle, or both, for some help at 2nd and in the bullpen. We could see a rotation that includes Stroman and Sanchez and possibly even Daniel Norris. (Don't be surprised if Norris is called up in September. He's been tearing it up in Buffalo) -
Me too. It's been a long time since I saw The Adventures of Baron Munchausen and it's hard to remember details. (especially at my age ) Wasn't Williams the "Man in the Moon"?

I agree. Dickey pitched well enough to win last night, but once again the offence was MIA... -

I think the Jays were doomed no matter what last night. Coming off a 19 inning marathon, having to cross a continent and then having to face King Felix.... Pretty tough to win that game under the best of circumstances. -

Frankly, I'm getting a bit tired of watching Francisco. He's like this year's JP Arencibia. Hits the occasional dinger, but then strikes out in his other three at bats... As I used to say about JP: "His bat is where rallies go to die".... (Now hopefully he'll prove me wrong against the M's)
