  1. Joey Bats can afford the fine. Sometimes you have to call a spade a spade and maybe it wakes MLB up, because there's something seriously flawed in the system, if they can't get that call correct.
  2. Your point is valid, but any pro quarterback would kill for 5 seconds of protection....
  3. Redblacks. God, I hate that name. I don't know which is more embarrassing, having a team named after it's two main colors, or having two teams with the same name in the same league.
  4. The O-line is a concern, but I don't think Glenn can blame all of those on protection. It just looked like a lot of poor decisions to me.
  5. Maybe not, but he sure looked like one. How many picks did he throw yesterday?
  6. Disappointing loss, but somewhat to be expected with the starting QB on the shelf. But hey, this is the CFL, where you aren't out of it until Labour Day at the earliest. Remember how the last championship season started?
  7. Shouldn't be a problem. I don't think they're going to make him walk...
  8. Not really. It was his throwing that made the ninth inning rally necessary. BTW: It may have slipped a bit under the radar, but mental errors by Jeter caused a couple of the Jays' runs yesterday. I've been a pretty staunch defender of Gibby this year, (and last actually) but I felt he stayed with McGowan way too long yesterday. It was pretty obvious that he didn't have his command and theYankees take a lot of pitches.... I think we also saw the trickle down effect of the injury to Bautista. If he's healthy, Gibbons has a better left fielder to insert into the lineup and that little flare probably doesn't drop in...
  9. Maybe. However, that isn't what we were debating. We were disagreeing on your assertion that Desjardins chose Vancouver over Pittsburgh, because the Penguins "don't have a lot to back up the top 2". It's clear to me that they have far more than the Canucks do, especially with the consensus being that Kesler will be leaving. Frankly, it surprises me that this isn't clear to you as well.
  10. And I've made "compelling and reasonable" arguments to the contrary. You'd know that if you'd followed your own advice and "read the thread". In answer to your "compelling" points: 1 - You don't know that. You are assuming, based on an extremely limited sample size. 2 - You don't know this either. Just because they stated they want to get bigger, doesn't mean they want to jettison every smaller player they have. They also mentioned wanting speed, which Schroeder has. By your logic, they shouldn't bother to try and re-sign Santorelli 3 - What other prospect? Are we really so tight in the amount of contracts we're carrying that we can't accommodate a former first round pick, who hasn't even been given a chance to show what he can do? 4 - Seriously? Now he's clogging up the system in Utica as well? Do we have other former first round picks clamoring for ice time on the farm? 5 - Maybe you can provide a breakdown of how many contracts we "most certainly" will be acquiring that will not allow us to keep Schroeder's. It seems extremely far-fetched to me. You do have specifics, right? How else could you use the words "most certainly".... @ Honky Cat: I am arguing those points. But the rest of your post echoes my sentiments and is what I have been saying all along. I'm fine with moving JS, if he truly doesn't fit, (something that I'm not convinced of, BTW) however, it's insane IMO, to give up on a first round pick and trade him for nothing, when you haven't even given him a chance to show what he can do. It absolutely baffles me how many people on this board are okay with doing just that. If management is indeed ready to do so, I'd have to reassess my opinion on their hiring.
  11. Meanwhile, we have people talking about Anaheim's late first round pick in a Kesler deal as if it's a huge benefit. But hey lets dump exactly that for absolutely nothing.... I have nothing against moving JS if he doesn't fit the future plans. I have a lot against moving him when his value is at an all-time low, especially when we haven't given him any sort of opportunity to prove his real worth. This is exactly the CDC buy high, sell low mentality that I seem to be constantly at odds with. Quite frankly, it baffles me that so few others are.
  12. As a man in his 50s, I vehemently object to the use of the term "old-timer".... ...I prefer "geezer" or "pops"...
  13. I think so. I would have preferred Stevens, but I'm content if Willie is the man.
  14. So why trade him? He hasn't had much of a shot here and we're talking about moving one of our centers, while having to re-sign another? Yet everyone seems to think that dumping a former first round pick for nothing is a smart hockey move? I'm having a hard time figuring this one out.
  15. Archie for goaltender coach? Between him, Lack and JM, could there possibly be a more off the wall trio?
  16. I think this past Cup final was as good an example of this as I've seen in a long time. Both the Kings and the Rangers got excellent contributions from their 4th lines. Hopefully, JB and TL were taking notes.
  17. I'm going to disagree with the bolded part. There were several of us on this board and several members of the media who said that playing the stars that much (and in many of the situations they were being used in) was a bad idea.... ...even when they were winning.
  18. Too bad fo_life wasn't around for this one...do you think he actually took my advice? Nah. Me either.
  19. Nice to see Edwin taking the parrot for a walk again tonight. Twice.
  20. The wife's second favorite Saskatchewan town.... ....the first is Biggar....
  21. Think about what you're saying...Pitsburgh "doesn't have a lot to back up the top 2", yet they do have Kunitz, Neal and Letang. Meanwhile the Canucks have.....?
  22. Silly post. Is the WHL not "real" hockey? Is MLS not "real" soccer? There are things I like and dislike about both sets of rules. I actually prefer 3 down football, as it promotes throwing the ball, which IMO, is more exciting than the ground and pound we see in the NFL sometimes. I also believe that CFL punt returns are far more exciting than their NFL counterparts. However, I absolutely hate the CFL's rewarding failure, in giving a single point for a missed field goal that isn't returned. I'm okay with the rouge, since it has the potential for quite a bit of excitement.
  23. I thought he was really squeezing Strohman on the outer edge of the plate as well. There were several pitches I saw that are usually called strikes, but the ump called outside. It was a big reason why Marcus was at 98 pitches after only 4 innings. I felt bad for the kid, considering he had 100 or so friends and family in the stands.
  24.   No doubt. But I don't think you'd want to have a guy with those kind of wheels catching... It's funny, people seem to have forgotten the "debate" over whether Joey Bats was more valuable at third, or in the outfield. It's not even a question anymore...
