  1. The thing is, he's looked pretty damn good at 2nd as well. He's able to play short left field against lefty pull-hitters and still throw them out... But yeah, the team is better off overall with brett at three and Moony (or Tolleson) at two.
  2. This suggests to me that my earlier musings might have been close to the mark. If Lind's foot contusion is going to keep him out, do they put Francisco at DH and platoon Moony and Tolleson at 2nd? Having Lawrie back at 3rd, with either of MK or ST at 2nd will certainly help the defense.
  3. Here's a clue: If you log into a forum about a sport you don't even watch, just to tell people how much you hate the team most of them cheer for, your home address should be underneath a bridge somewhere. I don't listen to hip hop, nor do I like it, when I hear it on the radio. For those reasons, I refrain from posting in any threads pertaining to hip hop. You might want to consider something similar when it comes to baseball.
  4. I think the show's producers have erred a bit with Shae. It certainly looks as though she's now being portayed as nothing but a gold digger, but it begs the question: Why didn't she accept the diamonds that Varys offered her in return for leaving King's Landing?
  5. Speaking of "nitpicks"... ...that wasn't Ghost. It was Summer. And sorry, but "CoT"?
  6. I could see them swapping Gose and Pillar once Colby returns, but we'll see. I did notice Cecil tweaking something yesterday, but I didn't catch how serious it was. The one that worries me is Dickey. Other than the gopher ball to Davis, I thought he threw well yesterday and a groin issue is something that can linger and cause problems for a while. Lind's injury was from hitting the ball off his foot, so as long as it isn't broken, i think he'll be back fairly soon. As I said earlier, I think it may be one of those silver lining things. Gibby could put Francisco in the DH spot and have Lawrie back at third, improving the overall defence. (Remember the throwing error just before Davis went yard?) Another option could be to have Kratz in the DH spot against lefties. Thole can stick to catching RA.
  7. Looks like Lind and Dickey both suffered minor injuries yesterday. Time methinks to move Francisco to DH and give Tolleson the start at 2nd. Jays let one get away yesterday. The had the O's on the ropes early, but couldn't get the big hit. A win today from Happ earns the split, which considering the slumping bats lately, would suit me fine. Re: Sending Gose or Pillar down once Colby returns, I agree with Zaun. I think it will be AG, if only because he and Rasmus are both lefties...
  8. I think Richards rebounded nicely this season, after spending much of last year in Torts' doghouse, but I believe that if they were being honest, both he and Rick Nash would admit that they were disappointed with their playoff performances. The stick that Voynov got on Nash's shot was a microcosm of how RN's postseason went and Richards' was only slightly better.
  9. Nash was "producing"? That's news to me. FTR: 4th in TOI/G amongst Ranger forwards, while finishing tied with Benoit Pouliot for 8th in scoring.
  10. ???? He played over 21 minutes in game five. With Torts he was a healthy scratch....
  11. You must be unfamiliar with Dustin Brown. I'm sure Luongo or Schneider would straighten you out on that one. 2nd best???? They finished 5th in the east this season, (behind Boston, Pittsburgh, Tampa Bay and Montreal)12th in the league...
  12. It's funny that mere pages after DBTR posts stats that blow this theory totally out of the water, the usual suspects chime in with the same tired misinformation as if they know what they're talking about. Go back and read the post. It's not difficult to understand, as long as you are interested in knowing the facts as opposed to the usual CDC rhetoric. It's funny how Pat Quinn is lionized for taking a middle or the pack team to the Cup finals, yet when AV does the same thing, CDC sees him as some kind of failure. The Rangers finished 12th overall this season. This was an extremely successful playoff run for them.
  13. As always, there are two sides to every story. This is from lcshockey.com and is closer to how I remember it:
  14. I think you have a misunderstanding of the word "logic". What he's saying is that the series could easily be 2-2, or 3-1 Rangers and it's silly to pin the 3-0 deficit on coaching. Absolutely logical.
  15. The injury to Hammer was a huge loss (and the Rome suspension didn't help) but I think it goes deeper than that. As someone already pointed out, the 6 of the Canucks top 9 were playing injured, as were Bieksa, Ehrhoff and Edler. Now teams play through injuries all the time, but as we saw, it took Kesler two years to get back into form and Edler has never gotten back to where he was. The real clincher was the powerplay. People like to lament the fact that the Bruins bullied their way to the Cup, but they didn't do things much differently than teams had been doing to Vancouver all season. The difference was, by the time the finals came along, the Canucks' skilled guys were unable to make the Bruins pay for all the time they were shorthanded.
  16. Your so-called "valid" points have been blown out of the water umpteen times. Just look a few posts up where DBTR shatters your "blown leads" theory. I've provided counter arguments and facts for several years now, but still the uninformed refer to Vigneault as a "garbage" coach. It's honestly so ridiculous that no rebuttal is required. The guy is in the Cup finals with an middle of the pack team. Just that fact alone makes your argument look foolish.
  17. Just to be clear: I don't agree with anything you have to say on the subject of coaching. I'm hard pressed to think of anyone on CDC that I'd say has a poorer understanding on what it means to be an NHL coach.. You've been an AV hater as long as I can remember, so I understand how his current success must be embarrassing for you, but trust me, your weak attempts to discredit him in this thread are not making you look any better.
  18. I have to give you credit. Not many people would try and spin two wins with two goals against as an "irrelevant" stat. And not that I believe you wouldn't have been critical of Vigneault for starting Schneider and losing, but the rest of the world certainly would have. Starting Cory in game three is only the "right" move with the benefit of 20/20 hindsight.
  19. Silly statement. Even if they're swept, the Rangers have advanced farther than anyone, including themselves, would have predicted. Most pundits and a lot of CDC had them losing to the Flyers in the first round. This has been nothing but a huge success for AV and the Rangers and trying to suggest otherwise shows a complete bias against him, or a complete lack of understanding of the situation.
  20. This "failure to adjust" routine is old and tired.....and inaccurate. The Rangers lost games 1 and 2 in OT games that could easily have gone the other way. (Remember the post by Kreider?) Also, in game two, they were the victims of two terrible calls one resulting in a goal for LA and the other robbing them of a powerplay in OT. In game three, they had more than twice as many shots as the Kings, but were facing a goaltender who was standing on his head. (That's about the only similarity between this Cup final and the one in 2011) Meanwhile, the Kings scored three goals, all of which were the result of lucky bounces. Expecting a coach to "make adjustments" for bad bounces and missed calls shows a lack of understanding of what a coach can and cannot control.
  21. I disagree, but there's no way to prove it either way. However, it does illustrate an interesting point: Now that the Rags are down 3-0, the usual suspects have turned up to spout their usual tired rhetoric. My favorite is "He's a great regular season coach, but a lousy playoff coach"... Yet here he is, coaching one of the only two teams left in the playoffs, after a season in which his team finished with the 12th best record overall. Sounds to me like the "critics" have it backwards....
  22. As I said, at the time it would have been a massive gamble to start Schneider in that game. We all know the result of the game, but not knowing that, consider the real possibility that Schneids plays and gives up four. It looks great now, because we know that Lou gave up 8, but the reality is, AV's critics would have crucified him for not starting a guy with back to back wins and a GAA of 1.00.
