  1. When I saw the fans doing that, my reaction was "WTF?! I thought that racist crap died with the Braves of the 90's".....
  2. I was probably going to cheer for Philly in the Super Bowl anyway, but after watching the petulant reactions from the Chiefs after today's game, I'm all in on the Eagles....
  3. Zebras seem determined to give this one to the Chiefs....
  4. Pretty big difference in what American cops make compared to forces like VPD and RCMP...(depending on which state they're in) Not surprisingly, some of the lowest paid cops are in the Southeast.....including Tennessee, where the average salary is $45k.... https://www.forbes.com/sites/andrewdepietro/2020/04/23/police-officer-salary-state/?sh=2805134e2010
  5. You're not wrong... ....however, if you're saying that it isn't possible for a bunch of black cops to be prejudiced against black civilians, then I disagree....
  6. Just going to throw this out there.... I don't really think this year's team is all that different from the team that finished last season under Boudreau. They were a nightly adventure defensively back then as well. The difference is that Demko was bailing his team out on a regular basis. This year he wasn't the same and Martin / Delia although they've filled in adequately, are not really bona fide starters. Maybe Tocchet can get these playing as a cohesive defensive unit, but I believe keeping the puck out of the net is going to be an uphill battle.
  7. Honestly, this kind of thing is why I don't visit Canucks Talk much any more... All of these guys start off as "great additions" and by the time they are inevitably let go, they're "useless bums".... My opinion is often quite unpopular in these threads. I think Alain Vigneault is the best coach the Canucks ever had. (and that includes Pat Quinn) By the time he was finally fired, I had argued with pretty much everyone on CDC about him.....and it started around the '09 season....
  8. I remember not that long ago, people were celebrating a different "End of the country club"..... ....That was when we hired Torts.... Remember that embarrassing, "John Tortorella: Greatest Canucks coach ever!" thread? ....good times.....
  9. Funny thing was, I wasn't even advocating selling the farm back then. I just didn't want to spend on Free Agents. Eddie Lack wasn't a #1, but I thought would a solid backup (I suggested Al Montoya) he could have 50 or so starts and it wouldn't be a disaster if he had a so-so season. IMO, the addition of Miller (and to a lesser extent Vrbata) made us just good enough to make the playoffs and get embarrassed by the Flames in the first round. Watching Edmonton get McDavid only made it more painful.
  10. I think we all know Horvat is gone for sure....maybe Boeser as well. I think we're stuck with Miller and OEL, but you can't have everything. Petey and Hughes are untouchable for me. For the rest of the team, JR should put out a sign that says "Everything Must Go!" This is only the second time I can remember advocating for a tank. The last time was back in 2015, when this kid from the Erie Otters was the consensus 1st overall pick. Instead, we picked up Ryan Miller and Radim Vrbata in the offseason....
  11. I'm also on team tank. I want a shot at Bedard, but even if that doesn't happen, it's a good year to have a high pick. I'm just hoping that this change doesn't result in the all too common "honeymoon period", where the team turns things around temporarily in reaction to a coaching change. This season is a write-off and I'd hate to see the Canucks move out of a lottery position.
  12. I read this article earlier today and for the most part, I agree. I think Allen's uptick in Interceptions this year had a lot to do with him just trying to do too much. I think management looked at last year and saw how close they were to advancing against the Chiefs and figured they could replicate that success. When they added, they went all-in on Vonn Miller, instead of taking some of the load off Allen. Miller was very good until he got injured, but it goes to show how risky it is to put all your eggs in one basket. The Bills can't add through free agency next season, because they're up against the Cap. They have to hope that the defense is shored up with the return of Miller and Micah Hyde. (Today I saw a report that Hyde would have been able to return, had the Bills made the AFC Championship game) They also have to address the issues with the O-Line, who had no answers for the Bengals pass rush last week.....and they need to find a reliable running back. (although I suppose it's possible that an improvement on the O-Line would make a difference in the run game as well) I'd also love to see them add a legit #2 wideout. (Apparently next year's draft is pretty well stacked with receivers) I just don't think Gabe Davis is that guy...
  13. It's about the same, actually....
  14. @Pears 'Grats brother. That was a dominant performance is all aspects. If they can replicate that for 2 more games I like the Bengals' chances to win it all. Offseason to-do list for the Bills: Find a running game.....
  15. I don't know Heffy....if we hired Recchi, we could let the team doctor go and spend that money elsewhere.....
  16. Not going to read all the comments in this PGT, (I rarely do after a loss) I just want to say that if you were at the game last night and were part of the tribute to Bruce Boudreau, my hat is off to you. There have been several times in the past that made me somewhat embarrassed to be a Canuck fan, (2 riots, hoping for losses so AV would get fired, calling the Sedins "sisters", etc....) but listening to "Bruce! There it is!" in the midst of a game we were trailing by two goals, I felt nothing but pride. You could see that BB really appreciated the gesture....as did I....
  17. Pulling for the Jags and Giants....and fully expecting them both to lose....
  18. Played his Junior hockey in Erie, PA.... Edmonton probably looked like Paris to him.... In regards to the thread question, I'm surprised that it's even a debate. We all watched the World Juniors, right? If the Canucks somehow overcome whatever curse the Hockey Gods have put on us and end up with the first overall pick,,,,it's Bedard. All day. Every day.
  19. Damn.....David Crosby now.... https://www.msn.com/en-ca/music/news/david-crosby-byrds-and-crosby-stills-nash-co-founder-dies-at-81/ar-AA16wXGy?cvid=01fd558250ff4566a2bd9b4bd82622bc
