  1. Shinya Aoki has the best pants ever (hopefully he wears rainbow today). And his legs are very flexible. Go Aoki!
  2. Dear Translink, My bus passed by my stop when I was a block away. No sweat, I thought, there'll be another in 5 minutes. Halfway down the remaining block, a second bus passed my stop. Oh dear, I thought, this cannot end well. I proceeded to wait 12 minutes (there should be two buses that come by in that time) at the stop before a very full bus showed up. Oh well, I thought, at least it's here. I boarded the bus, and as it left the stop, I saw that another bus caught up to us. Please figure out a way to space the buses properly. Thanks, Concerned Noodle
  3. Gynecomastia would be my guess. Why they may have it is another conversation altogether.
  4. I was very impressed Chris Cyborg in her EliteXC bout just now. She pounded that other girl! She thought the fight was over and started celebrating, and, not understanding English, took a while to understand the fight wasn't over. She then proceeded to dish out more brutality and finish it for real. It was pretty lopsided, but I enjoy seeing a browbeating every once in a while too! The other girl wasn't really a mixed martial artist, all she did was try for submissions, which are apparently how all of her wins came in the past. I wouldn't mind seeing more female fights if they could find enough talented fighters to take part in them.
  5. Yeah that was pretty bad. That and the listing of celebrities in attendance.
  6. Fedor gives everyone more reason to believe he's #1.
  7. Great submission by Hominick in his Affliction fight. And now Megadeth is playing. What?
  8. For those who haven't heard of it before: Badass. Anyhow, I definitely want to try to catch the Affliction. Heheh, illness joke. I'll be sure it's my nickname!
  9. I know there is a Ju-jutsu club at UBC, which would be cheap, but I believe it's classical stuff. I've done classical martial arts in the past, so I'm more interested in the modern stuff. Thanks for the link, I may inquire there.
  10. Heheh, I did see that bit. I'm definitely considering it, as I'd like to learn BJJ. edit: I found it: For only BJJ it's $149 per month, or $135 per month for 4 months or $105 per month for 16 months, plus a couple more options. I kind of figured it would be that pricey. Looks like my MMA career will have to wait until I'm done school. http://www.universalmma.com/pages/schedule_vancouver.html
  11. Hmmm, I wonder how expensive that downtown MMA gym is.
  12. Here's something I've was curious about, and then looked into a bit. I was trying to figure out why the all the fighters look like they weigh a bit more than the weight classes they fight in. So I thought about it, and then found out that in accordance with my suspicions, they don't weigh in on the day of the fight. So what does this mean is happening? They are cutting down 10-20 pounds (depending on the weight class) a day before the weigh in, and gaining it all back directly afterwards. Turns out this is generally done by not eating anything and wearing several layers of clothing in a sauna. Now to me this doesn't seem right. The UFC claims to be concerned about the safety of their competitors, so how can they justify the dangerous process of soaking every bit of water out of one's body? To be competitive, fighters have to do this, otherwise they'll end up fighting someone with 10-20 pounds of muscle on them. And how are weight classes at all representative of true fighting weight when your lightweights are really welterweights.
