  1. Shorty and Murph both do a great job. Tomlinson is 'meh'. Not thrilled abut Ray and his onslaught of verbal diarrhea - but at least he'll be on a 'limited' basis. In my view Ray's as bad as Pierre McGuire....
  2. Thank you for everything you've done here over the years, your efforts have NOT gone unnoticed. See you on the other side .
  3. I suspect we're going to see a lot of these '4 Pillars' - Demko, Huggy, EP, Miller
  4. This is good news. I'm sorry if I missed it, but who's his partner going to be?
  5. Random question:

    Gas or Electric snowblower?

I'm getting one soon, but which one?  4-5 car driveway size. Live in the interior of BC.

Alway choose gas. It’s not even close. This is a snow blower! Just say no to electric.

with your location and size of lot I would lean gas myself

This morning I ordered the Greenworks Electric 2 stage snowblower from Costco - it's cheaper there than from Greenworks own website on sale lol.

I already have their mower so I have a few batteries and have been very satisfied with that unit - hopefully the snow machine will work as well.  Either way, being from Costco, if it doesn't perform, it'll go back and I'll get a gas powered unit.

  6. Whether you like this decision or not (I think it's a great choice), it's a good idea to name the captain right now. Media will have one less issue to nag about and Quinn is a very, very hard worker who will set a great tone throughout camp/pre-season.
  7. One would have to assume this ranking is largely speculative as you say at this stage, and based largely on points percentages from previous year mixed with other data such as: travel miles, back-to-back games, facing opponents coming in fresh or off a game the night before, ect. Since there's no 'real' numbers yet this season it's gotta be based on a lot of last year's information.
  8. How are people feeling about the recent Bill Peters hiring in the WHL?

If he is truly remorseful and has learned from his past behaviour, I am okay with it. I’m all for second chances, within reason of course.

As long as he loses every game, and is fired at the end of the season.

      I'm good.

If he loses every game, I doubt that he would make it to the end of the season.

  9. Best piece of info from this article to me is that Gonch/twins will run the PP. Now who will oversee the PK? Special teams will be crucial this season, the PK itself probably kept us from making PO last year.
  10. Figured it was Brock when I saw the title. Must be hard to have a career season (goals anyway) your first full rookie season - we all know expectations can ruin a player. I truly hope he has a fantastic season.
  11. To me, it means essentially Willander and his advisors saw two things which motivated his decision to come to NA: - young kids often are given very limited opportunities in European pro leagues - he saw the need to get NA style experience before turning pro at some point. Not to mention already being in NA with no pro contractual obligations he can turn pro for the Canucks at virtually any time when both sides feel the time is right. Either way, it'll be interesting to follow his transition to NCAA.
  12. He traded a 2nd to dump Dickinson. He didn't create that mistake of course, but he did pay to fix it. I'm not saying Allvin is making poor decisions, for the most part he's got us in the right direction. But the fact remains we are a non-playoff team with cap issues having to rely on LTIR and that's not a great situation to be in. What happens if one, or both of, Pearson/Poolman are healthy come the fall?
  13. We're a non-playoff team who, as it stands now, is relying on LTIR to multiple players to make the cap, does that equate to cap flexibility - I'm not so sure?
  14. I'll give management some credit for some positive moves, certainly - we seem to be moving in the right direction. However there are glaring inconsistencies out there between what management publicly said they would do and what they actually did, mainly the fact that cap flexibility was #1 on management's priority list and they haven't done that, and also the fact that management said unequivocally they would NOT trade high picks because the organization wasn't in that 'stage of cycle developmentally'. I get it, things change and priorities evolve, but to my knowledge Allvin nor JR, publicly explained why they went against their own priorities they set when they arrived?
  15. Meh, I actually stayed at the original Flamingo, or what they called the original structure anyway, before it was demolished and rebuilt. Still, Like Ghost said, I don't like Vegas.
  16. He was a '4th liner' in terms of the Bruins depth last year and how he was utilized by the coaching staff. But they were a really deep team so everything's relative. That said, it remains to be seen if/how his game can progress if given more opportunities now that there will be at least 'some' movement in the top of their lineup with Bergeron leaving, creating a trickle down effect on ice-time, special teams, ect....?
  17. He was my pick over Woo that year but w/e, draft history now.....
  18. That's essentially what Wayne said. He didn't speak very kindly of Rocky (in his own way), which for people who grew up seeing Wayne in the media, was quite rare.
  19. A true member of the 'privileged white boys club' if there ever was one. Careful if you challenge their authority:
  20. I still find it difficult to reconcile how someone so classy and respected played his entire, accomplished career, for an organization like that one....
  21. Found myself with extra time this week so I caught a couple films: Mission Impossible - Dead Reckoning - 8/10 If you like the recent MI movies, you're sure to be entertained by this one as well. They did a good job creating a 'stand alone' film, but at the same time it's fully integrated into the MI cannon and they set up part 2 very well. Oppenheimer - 9/10 Christopher Nolan does an amazing job combining fact/reality with the necessary 'Hollywood entertainment' factor. Cillian Murphy and Robert Downey Jr. each give excellent performances. I'm sure this film will garner numerous 'nominations' come awards season. If you're a modern history buff this one's a 'must see' imo.
  22. I get it, there needs to be a point of reference otherwise things get out of control, and we know GM's simply can't exercise self control. That said, Crosby used to be the 'standard' and his contract was left by the wayside long ago....in the not too distant future MacKinnon's contract won't be as relevant just like Crosby's isn't anymore.
