  1. In the NHL there's probably lots of guys that do that, either they want a new stick every game or their sticks go to other causes as 'game used equipment' not unlike jerseys. Either the team pays or their gear sponsor pays so the amount of sticks they use is likely only limited by the supply chain situation. When I was in Jr not so much. The team had a stick budget and although you didn't have a set limit you knew the supply wasn't endless. There were guys who needed a new stick every other game because they were hard on gear(defenceman for example) and guys who used the same set of 3 or 4 twigs for several weeks. But when I played sticks weren't retailing for almost $300 (yes I know teams don't pay that, it's just an example).
  2. Perfect, play them all sporadically, don't let anyone get into a groove - Perfect under the radar tank strategy!
  3. Are they lying or incompetent? Did they botch Demko's recovery like Pearson's? Does anyone believe anything this management group says these days?
  4. CBJ vs. AZ, what result is better for our tank?...... ...I'm guessing AZ win in OT, or...?

Alternating OT wins and losses for both. Better for the Tank if both get points.

Arizona in ot but I think CBJ wins this instead

  5. It's difficult to watch, not a single thing Orielly can improve in his game according to Kelly . It's like they forgot they should be objective observers. Even Juice drank their kool-aid, or his own juice was spiked.
  6. I knew the HNIC panel would support the TO trade, but this is ridiculous.  It's comical to watch.

Foaming at the mouth over it like they didn’t do the same with Giordano and Foligno the previous two years.

either the Canuck media is crap cuz they are negative,

or the Leaf media is crap because they are positive

you guys live a tough life

what are you doing watching a Leafs game anyway?

      torturing yourselves?

      ROR is a great player.

  7. Neither of the guys we give them have shown they can contribute at the NHL level yet sad as it is? How does that help them 'win now?
  8. RoR will obviously contribute in TO, when he's not crashing into Tim Hortons that is, but can't help but wonder if Chychrun would've been a better addition to compete with the Eastern powerhouses in a lengthy PO run? Get rid of Nylander before that ntc kicks.
  9. I suppose you could get injured and never even get offered an ELC? Or you regress terribly and nobody wants to sign you, not even your own draft team? If you sign early and leave school before UFA you have that ELC in your back pocket at the 'very least', and can bank on that money regardless since the NHL can't simply cut you like other leagues (NFL).
  10. Am I reading this incorrectly: https://www.capfriendly.com/players/colton-parayko
  11. I like outside the box thinking, but... Why would Parayko waive his NTC and uproot his entire family to go from a bad team to a worse one? At this rate Miller is still contributing and likely will decline, but still contribute. How long until Parayko is another OEL and becomes a complete passenger with a massive contract?
  12. Completely agree - but what would one consider justice? Holding a few 'high profile' individuals accountable? Bankrupting the CHL and it's member leagues? As a parent, I can't even begin to think what I would consider justice if something like this was perpetrated against my children? In the so called 'real world' people go to jail for many, many years for doing things described in the article - but where do you start since this probably applies to dozens (if not hundreds of teams) and thousands of individuals?
  13. I don't understand why this is news? Any organization as devoid of prospects as we are, should be looking at every single free agent that has ANY potential to become an NHL'er at any position, no?
  14. Sabres are weak down the middle and aren't hard to play against. One of their bloggers suggested a package for Miller/Schenn. Not sure what the return would be other than RHD Jokiharju + ?
  15. I don't hate this. I also think if Demko isn't moving there could still be a fit with Buf: To Buf: Boeser, 3rd, Rathbone To VAN: Jokiharju, Nadeau
  16. I think a reasonable (not exact) comparison could be made between Raty and Filip Chytil. It was a full 5 years from draft to when Chytil began contributing in a meaningful way to the Rangers line-up. Now Chytil is producing good offensive numbers while playing 3rd line center at almost 15min/night. Almost all of his points are coming at even strength as well - he just needs to bring his FO% up and he'd be a very good 3rd, maybe even 2nd line center that could play several different roles for the team. If the coaching staff in Abby could develop Raty's overall game and he could be a full-time 2nd/3rd line center (depending on need at that time) for this club long-term and produce around 50-60pts/year that would be huge for our organization.
  17. At this point, with the season essentially done and the only thing left to decide is draft position - they should focus on giving the guys they already have in the system a shot before they bring in anyone else imo - Hogs/Pod/Aman/Klim/Raty, these guys should be given looks.
  18. Schenn having a career season. Time to resign him like Miller, right? Or trade him like BoHo, no?
  19. What, I thought Huggy for Nemec, Mercer, 1st was a done deal already?
  20. You think the NHL would financially support the Coyotes for 20 years, but pull the plug on the Canucks after a few seasons in the red, come on.....
  21. I totally understand where you're coming from - corporations do support the team and make it look like the hardcore fan accepts what's happening when in fact they don't but their voice (empty seat) isn't counted. On the other point - I don't think there's be any possibility, not even the slightest, that the NHL allow this team to move even if they bleed money for years - just look at AZ - have they EVER posted a profit, I mean in their entire existence? Yet the NHL will absolutely NOT entertain moving that franchise.
  22. On one hand I agree, fans don't deserve over a decade of futility. On the other hand, it's those same fans, or the majority of them anyway, who have financially supported this club throughout the decade plus of futility sending the message to ownership that he has their support. So is it deserved, or isn't it - I'm not totally sure myself? One thing is very likely - if the rink started to be half full (or worse) on most game days, and stayed that way - there would be some serious changes RIGHT QUICK as FA wouldn't accept that for very long.
  23. I only say this because, well, the Coilers have proven that landing a 'generational player' means nothing if your overall team management is useless. It's no guarantee for success. And I agree, if our odds don't win the favour of the hockey gods, it's not who I want #1 going to, it's who do I NOT want it going to. Chi/AZ/Mtl/StL/Phi/Ott can stuff it - CBJ, SJ, ANA, who cares about them, Bedard would toil in complete anonymity in those places and it wouldn't really change anything.
  24. There's the rub, 'if' they pan out. And while I'm sure Nemec will (although I do get why others feel a bird in the hand is better than in the bush so to speak), we KNOW that Huggy is already a star. That would not only make them legitimate contenders sooner than waiting to see if these guys pan out, but it would allow them to market their team in a way no NHL team (dare I say no pro sports team in NA) can right now. What that's worth to NJ is anyone's guess?
