  1. I have that exact chair at my office desk and while I don't spend hours at a time at it i do feel it's a great chair. I know its nowhere near top of the line but I don't see myself paying out of pocket to upgrade just because i doubt the improvement would justify the cost. As mentioned chairs are pretty subjective items.
  2. One thing is becoming perfectly clear - first you re-sign Markstrom - then evaluate your cap situation and go from there. He's the #1 priority right now for this team, everything else comes second.
  3. Benning has said from day 1 he wants to build with character players. Honestly, I could be wrong, but Domi doesn't scream "character leader" to me.
  4. Imo we don't need a Domi type player. If we sign Marky and don't sign Tanev/TT we're going to need a replacement type player for Tanev more than a player like Domi.
  5. Another group of vets that simply didn't 'bring it' for these playoffs. Burke was right on with his comments how the Caps players are to blame here, not necessarily the coach. Their whole lineup was just 'meh' of every minute I watched - they looked totally disinterested whereas the Isles looked hungry. This is the sound of their 'window' officially closing imo.
  6. Not a single classroom in my high school had windows - only the library and administrators offices had windows - and this high school currently has over 1200 kids attending. The elementary school that my nephew goes to right now has no windows in the classrooms - again, only windows in the library and the office and this school has about 400 kids attending. There are a LOT of these types of schools in the province and they aren't going to spend hundreds of millions (yes, that would be a very conservative estimate imo) to retrofit these types of buildings with the proper HVAC they'd need to be effective against the virus. I understand the argument for proper ventilation of buildings but if you look at it from a practical point of view, this is NOT a solution for MOST public schools in BC therefore the only alternative would be smaller class sizes to reduce the proximity of students/staff - not to mention this is an EASY solution (part-time and/or alternate day attendance) which would not require any cost for infrastructure - yes, I understand the cost to families who are hoping to send their kids back full-time, but there has to be a compromise somewhere in the system since we're not going back to 'normal' without endangering people.
  7. Dallas beat Cgy because their goaltending was terrible when they needed it most not to mention their #1 line failed to show up for the playoffs yet again, throw in many untimely bad penalties from vets like Gio & Lucy - Colorado doesn't have these problems so I see the Avs handling the Stars relatively easily, say 5 games.
  8. Everyone wants to believe their guy won't be the one to leave just because of money but I've seen it far too often not to know it's a definite possibility. Yzerman could imo, easily lure Marky with a 'career defining' contract in both term & dollars - something JB won't necessarily be able to do.
  9. If you believe social media - I know, who does - several teams are looking at Marky. Detroit and Chicago come to mind immediately as teams I've read have been looking at him from a distance.
  10. If you ever lived on TO, as I did for 2 years unfortunately, you'd have a better understanding of why - despite it not making sense on a few fronts - they pursued and signed JT. I could go on about what I experienced in that market but if you ever lived in the GTA you know exactly what I'm talking about. When he made the decision to become UFA imo it was already a done deal - Leafs management was signing him no matter what regardless of the long-term implications. They never could've predicted covid though but who could?
  11. No, they should've done exactly what they did and overpaid these guys effectively effing themselves for the foreseeable future - this model for them works just fine for me.
  12. Realistically, from a players perspective, I don't see this as a possibility. The isolation from family/friends/other interests to keep a balanced life was/is being exposed right now in regular society. Having 'bubble breaks' defeats the entire purpose so I don't see that as a solution either.
  13. Would we trade the potential equivalent of Petey, Hughes, BB and Demko for 1st overall?.....no, I didn't think so.
  14. It's not about the dollar figure per-se of any given contract to an elite player imo - its about the percentage of the team's cap. The TML expected the cap to gradually increase each year - like every GM did - This would have lowered the percentage of team cap to their big 4 guys, and now they're up against it because there'll basically be a flat cap for an indefinite period. This is why, in part, you have guys like Burke saying they need to trade Nylander for a defenceman - since this ain't happening through ufa. This, flat cap, is also why I think we cut our losses wt TT and direct our limited resources to Tanev/Marky. If the Wild play-in series showed us anything it's how valuable Tanev really is - no, I'm not just talking about the OT goal - and that we have the forward depth to get it done with who we already have here.
  15. Barring any further unusual developments in the next couple weeks I fully expect K-7 attendance to be FAR, FAR greater than it was last spring. It's logical to assume, just like the rest of society is reflecting now, that many ppl are 'over' the pandemic whether it is actually safe to believe that or not. Sure, some parents will keep their kids home, but I will be shocked if schools don't see a dramatic increase in daily attendance compared to last spring come September.
  16. No problem personally attacking JB, yet raises issues with being targeted themselves.....what was that about trends?
  17. Administrators lost any 'weight' they had when they ceased to be members of the BCTF bargaining unit. Even with the covid measures, they have zero 'weight' in the sense that they cannot make independent decisions unless they comply with the provincial health officer's (PHO) directives and WorkSafe BC guidelines (which are essentially based on the PHO's directives) and their Superintendent's directives (which again, come directly from the PHO). Parents organizing 'en masse' and being very, very vocal about it, to not send their children back unless a very detailed plan was presented for EVERY district in the province would be about the only thing that, imo, would make the PHO/Premier's office/MoE take pause and reassess their 100% return to school stance. Problem is, I suspect FAR more parents care more about their kids going back to school under any conditions rather than if the conditions are actually safe for EVERY person in the building.
  18. Not thinking too far ahead here, but every team facing elimination so far today has been, well...........
  19. Typically I'd agree but he's been such a non-factor in this short series what does it matter? He's usually a difference maker for them on the back end I suspected something was off with him from the beginning. At this point I'd favor him playing and continuing to be invisible vs putting in another guy who might add something to their team.
  20. Tanev showing why he should be a priority UFA signing for us. He was huge on the PK today and they're obviously targeting him because they know how effective he is. After all these years he still doesn't get the credit he deserves imo.
  21. I don't know if I'd go so far as to call it a win/win but it wouldn't hurt as much not qualifying knowing there's at least a shot at the lottery pick. That said, it would still be bittersweet.
  22. Sadly, no matter how good they are, they won't be as good as Juice!
