  1. True PMD are worth much more than any other asset imo. Solid pick!
  2. Got our PMD right there!
  3. 1. If JB gets a reasonable supporting cast around the twins, both of them will continue to be very productive for the duration of their existing contracts imo. 2. If JB can do better than just a reasonable supporting cast - the twins can remain impact players to the end of their contracts imo. 3. If none of the above happens - the twins will feel the brunt of every teams best shut-down guys for the next 160+ games, and struggle not to decline in production drastically before the end of their contracts. I really hope it's #2.
  4. It's 100% plausible, without anything else having to change, that Beart gets 20 this season imo. But I hear you, he's got to get them before we count'em.
  5. The exact same reason why BCHL teams bring in 15/16 year olds for games here and there, and why AHL teams bring up CHL kids when their playoff end, and why NHL clubs bring up AHL guys during playoffs knowing they're not likely to see any game action - it's so when these kids do actually find themselves in a situation where they're going to hit the ice they're familiar with the environment, personnel, teammates, locker-rooms, practice facilities, coaches, etc, and they can focus on the on-ice stuff as much as possible. It's the right way to build capacity in the system imo.
  6. Garteig was already in the Canucks Development Camp in 2014 and didn't get offered a contract. He's from Prince George and played his Jr A hockey in Powell River/Penticton where he won an RBC Cup and was the goalie of the year 2x. There's been plenty of time for the Canucks organization to have scouted this kid as he's been on a pretty big stage in the hockey world for several years now. If this kid gets passed over yet again and actually becomes something in the NHL, the Canucks have no one to blame for missing the boat on him as he was literally playing in their own back yard for years. As for Demko, I'm a bit nervous that he's going to pull a 'Vesey' on us, but that might just be my paranoia talking?
  7. Best not to put too much value in comparing KHL/NHL stats - they are essentially apples/oranges. Remember Steve Moses - don't worry, no one else does either.
  8. What a great attitude in a young prospect. Makes you wonder how/why some kids are like Tryamkin and some turn out like entitled brats (Drouin/Ho-Sang)?
  9. There are obviously pro's/con's to staying in school vs. leaving early. Imagine, just for the sake of argument, that Boeser stayed in school and suffered a career ending injury while there, never having signed an NHL deal or played a pro game in his life - while unfortunate he could still get a degree because the school is obligated to keep their scholarship offer to him but that's it - nothing on top of that. If he left school and signed a pro deal, he'd instantly get the signing bonus which wouldn't be insignificant by any 'normal person's' salary as Gaunce/Shink got signing bonuses in the neighborhood of $275,000.00 while their AHL salary is about $70, 000.00 per season (not superstar money or even close, but better or equal to the average person's normal wage I suspect). If Boeser or anyone else was injured after signing their ELC they would still get all the money on their ELC owed to them and have the option of going back to school whenever they wanted to. You can bet that many agents out there are telling their clients that ANYTHING can happen, and they should get PAID when they can. Often a difficult message I imagine, because what 20-something doesn't think they're invincible or that nothing bad will ever happen to them?
  10. Give you guys one guess who the last goaltender to win the Hobey Baker award was!
  11. That's fair, I really didn't make a clear point. I believe people's view is that our prospect pool is questionable ever since the majority of them were leapfroged by Virt/McCann. I don't feel that way myself. Okay, that's more clear hopefully ?
  12. In all honesty, I fully believe that, justified or not, Virt and McCann (and BoHo last year) making the squad this season has put some kind of taint on all of the other prospect unfortunately. As I said, I don't think it's justified, and personally i don't feel that way, but i do feel that many uninformed and impatient posters here feel that way. At least their posts make it seem that way.
  13. I thought that the message was that if Gaunce didn't start bringing it every night consistently that he'd be replaced? Wait a second.....EE.
  14. Upper body injury to a goalie is probably the best case scenario. Hips, knee, groin, ankle, etc would be more worrisome imo. This is an example of a team putting all their eggs in one basket so to speak. To my knowledge, no other goalie has played a single game for Boston College this season - now this happens and they're screwed. You would think their coach would have more foresight than that? Yes, you want to ride your stud horse as much as possible, but you at least need to know you have a back-up for this exact eventuality.
  15. If it meant JV had a follow-up season anywhere near LD's, I'd offer to drive him to the bus station myself .
  16. Hey, that happened to me too chill, I just have to refresh without typing reply and it seems to fix it. On topic though, and I say this with all due respect (no attack intended ), you have to realize your life on CDC is really going to suck if Koneckny doesn't turn out to be who you think he will or if BB becomes a better than average player, no?
  17. It doesn't get any more clear cut than this, took me 5 seconds to find this once I got back from dinner. From NHL.com: Tuesday, 01.06.2015 / 2:11 PM / NHL Insider By Derek Van Diest - NHL.com Correspondent EDMONTON — During his brief time coaching this season, Edmonton Oilers general manager Craig MacTavish saw the extent of rookie center Leon Draisaitl's frustration with his play. However, MacTavish would only contemplate sending Draisaitl, 19, back to junior if a contending Western Hockey League team owned his rights. Edmonton did not want Draisaitl returning to the Prince Albert Raiders this season. "I had a real specific destination for Leon in mind and I talked to [Raiders GM] Bruno Campese saying it was very unlikely that he would be reassigned back to P.A.," MacTavish said on Tuesday. "At one of those conversations I said to Bruno that I had this specific situation that I thought was going to be ideal for Leon and if that situation was satisfied, there would be a likelihood that we would send him back." Oilers GM Craig MacTavish saw the extent of rookie center Leon Draisaitl's frustration with his play but would only send him to a contending WHL team. (Photo: Getty Images) Tuesday, the WHL announced Prince Albert traded Draisaitl's rights to the Kelowna Rockets in exchange for European import left wing Kris Schmidli, defenseman Dalton Yorke, a first-round pick in the 2015 WHL Bantam Draft, a fourth round pick in the 2016 WHL Bantam Draft and a conditional pick. Kelowna (31-6-3) leads the WHL standings and are expected to contend for a league championship and a berth into the Memorial Cup. The Oilers announced Draisaitl had been assigned to the Canadian Hockey League on Sunday. "I think for obvious reasons, Kelowna was the destination for Leon and I think this is going to be extremely important for his development," MacTavish said. "I don't view his games here as time wasted at all. I think it's time well spent for him and I think everybody can understand what our rationale is to send him back to Kelowna to have this experience." Draisaitl scored two goals and seven assists in 37 games for the Oilers. Because he did not play at least 40 NHL games, this season will not count toward unrestricted free agency. Edmonton (9-22-9) are last in the NHL standings and are expected to miss the playoffs for the ninth-consecutive year. "For me, I was happier with Leon's performance than Leon was," MacTavish said. "When I was behind the bench, I could tell he was frustrated, and at times, he was emotionally disengaged from the game because he's a guy that's used to being the go-to guy in every game that he's played. He's used to scoring and I could tell at that point that he was taking this more harshly than he should have been. I had a talk with him at that point a couple of weeks ago and have communicated this with him since throughout the last two weeks. When I did talk to him, he to me, almost seemed relieved and at that point. I knew, given the situation that we're in — it looks like our situation is improving here — but in spite of that, it's important for these players to play within their own peer group." Prior to being selected third by Edmonton in the 2014 NHL Draft, Draisaitl scored 38 goals and 67 assists in 64 games with the Raiders. He made the Oilers out of training camp and started the year as their second-line center. "Obviously I had an amazing time here, I learned so many things, I couldn't even list it on one list," Draisaitl said. "I'm really thankful that I've been given the opportunity to play in the NHL as a young kid. At the same time now, going to an organization that is winning and is hopefully going to have a deep [playoff] run is pretty exciting for myself." Draisaitl is returning to Kelowna with an emphasis on improving his overall game. "The foot speed I have to be better at, my defensive game, I think my whole game has to develop," Draisaitl said. "I'm still young, I'm not too worried about it and I just want to be as complete a player as I can. There are lots of things to work on. I have to keep my good habits that I've learned over the time I was here. I'm excited to go to a winning team and have some success."
  18. It's common knowledge that McTavish did this exact thing for Draisaitl and it seems to have worked out very well for his development. Obviously each situation is unique, but there are some strong similarities between the two.
  19. Again, who said intelligent ?
  20. Who said anything about intelligent hockey fans, wasn't it a couple d-bag reporters?
  21. Was basically being used as a pylon in front of opposing net for 2 periods, then was apparently given the green light in 3rd.
