He definitely didn't look like a future all star, but then again the next chosen boy Matthews didn't either so....
-
Quennville, Point, Marner being discussed as 1st line but regardless, hope JV has a breakout game.

Sign that kid to the max ELC right now JB! Guarantee him 40gms in Utica next year plus at least 4 callups if you have to
-
Read the updates from UticaHockey in the Utica thread, you'll see that Gaunce has been very inconsistent down there, even being a healthy scratch. I don't think throwing him to the NHL is going to solve that. Plus it's a bad message to send the prospects if you give a call-up to someone who hasn't necessarily fully earned it.
-
And Sutter isn't a winger but he played there with the twins when they needed him there. When necessary, you need to improvise. I've already watched a few Utica games online where Gaunce took shifts at center in different scenarios - wouldn't be the end of the world to give him a few shifts there at the NHL level.

I take all offensive stats from the Q with a grain of salt, but looks like he's quietly putting up a nice transition year to NA style hockey.
-
Stecher already attended both a Canucks rookie camp and a Hawks camp, both clubs passed on him. His offensive numbers (what he's supposed to do best) aren't overwhelming, but who knows, start in ECHL maybe? As for Caggiula, personally i think his offensive numbers are somewhat inflated since his team is literally stacked with pro-prospects this year. If his numbers in his first two years were closer to what they are now (like Boesers are), that would be impressive. But he's a senior whose role on the team is to score and he's doing that so who knows, he'll get an offer to turn pro somewhere I'm sure?

Kesler played one year at Ohio and turned pro right after that. Boeser is on pace to have a much better season in ND than Kesler had in Ohio. There could be a parallel there possibly, or have the age eligibility rules changed since Kesler played in Manitoba ?
-
Ouch, temporary lapse in effort or pouting after being sent down? Edit;Pouting comment was only sarcasm, I know he's a character kid.
-
Where was Gaunce this afternoon, not on scoresheet?
-
The Boeser kid is good, very good. But don't forget, he's playing on a stacked team in ND. The Sioux have 10 NHL draft picks on their roster and are one of the higher scoring teams in college hockey right now. BBs numbers would likely look much different if he was on a team like Denver or Providence for example who survive on team defense. But no question, kid has skills & promising potential.

Well, there was one guy wearing #13 in a Red/White uniform playing at the same time.

Could you post some links, clips, quotes, video's supporting the theory that TD is 'cocky, loud, and has an attitude like so-and-so'? This isn't a shot at your post, I'd really like to hear/see any evidence of this theory/supposition. Because he didn't attend the camp (I know about his NCAA eligibility precluding him from doing so) there isn't a lot out there unlike there rest of the prospects who attended camp both at the Young Stars and in PG. I suspect this is like the McCann thing at the draft where he was put on the spot, made a quote and people blew it completely out of proportion insinuating from a 2 minute interview moments after he was drafted that he wasn't pleased to be a Canuck - which has proven to be entirely NOT true.

So join date AND three quarters of individual members post counts gone.......that's disappointing unfortunately . Sure, there would be glitches converting but.... any chance either of these would return to previous standing?
-
Wouldn't mind seeing join date without having to see a members profile.

I was only half-joking about demanding his rights be traded (making fun of MacTavish trying to manipulate the WHL to do his bidding). JV's situation isn't simple as we all know. Being around pro's and practicing day in/day out with them will benefit him no doubt as would any game action he saw vs. NHL competition. However, if he's in/out of the roster all the time and spending time in the press-box, I'd sooner have him in the WHL (somewhere) logging heavy minutes being the go-to guy on the team and developing his leadership skills even more. At his age, imo, he needs to play, not watch from the press-box just so he can soak up the NHL ambiance. Now, if the WD plans to play him on a nightly basis, well that changes the scenario - then you gotta ask yourself how much would he have to play on a nightly basis to make it even worthwhile having him on the club?
-
They should just demand that his Jr. rights be traded to Kelowna - problem solved .

nvrm Just saw the other thread.

Horvat was an exceptional case as he was mentally and physically so mature, he made the transition to the NHL look easy even though it isn't. Now everyone thinks these other kids can do that too unfortunately. I agree that the Utica crew will perhaps make a difference on the club before JV. Despite Horvats success, a years worth of coaching/training/competing in the AHL cannot be underestimated.
-
Agreed. Unlike many others here, I believe there is more to be gained long term by allowing certain prospects to develop in the minors in different situations rather than throw them to the wolves unprepared and unprotected. They are in good hands under Green & Bombers tutelage and the Canucks don't need underdeveloped prospects on the roster simply to affirm a youth/speed/compete movement or whatever you want to call it. The team isn't nearly as undermanned as some seem to believe and I can't wait until the season begins so coach Willy can prove it.
-
The guy said of all the Russians we've had......that implies every Russian ever on the team so.....
-
Yeah, forget about Bure, Mogilny, and Larionov when we got a guy who's never seen an NHL game yet.
-
The sooner this kid gets to NA the better for his overall development as a player and his financial future one would think since the KHL is in crisis right now.
-
Trust me, I'm not defending the Noner, but 07 was a weak sauce draft for the entire league. Besides Kane/PK, there's a lot of.......just weakness (chime in all the ppl saying but what about so and so......). Go ahead and rip Noner all u want but it would be more convincing if you picked a draft year where everyone made out like a bandit except Noner. Angelo Esposito. .......seriously?

Would it be fair to ask, is skating not considered a skill?
