  1. Personally, I tend to de-value most players/prospects from both the Habs/Leafs because I know their media/fan-base wildly overvalue them to begin with. And yes, I understand they probably view us the same way.
  2. Dual offer sheet the same team?  I wouldn't do it, but it'd be fun watching the fallout if someone did:

We should just target Vegas with the threat to OS Hague, then lowball them for his and Roy's RFA rights.

Nah don't $&!# where you eat. You piss of a GM and risk alienating membership in the old boys club...

GM's that try the offer sheet route tend to lose their jobs pretty quickly afterwords.

  3. Well, Jim Benning himself had an entire career in the NHL at the position and still didn't seem to fully grasp how to build a unit?
  4. I'd be careful with Kakko, his development has not progressed as NY hoped, and although I've looked repeatedly for the article, there's a local beat blogger in NY who's said management there were concerned it might be time to trade him before his value tanks? Take it for what it's worth? Yeah, he's young, lots of tools there to still develop, but....
  5. Marino as the main piece doesn't move the needed for me, at all - and I hope I misinterpreted you and your actually joking, no disrespect. And people clamoring for Kapanen in the deal (which is a pkg I've heard too often I'm worried about it) seem to overlook he was outscored by Pearson who played less gm's and for whatever reason people want to get rid of Pearson at any cost? I see a need on the Pens side, but not necessary a match with the elite assets Miller should be commanding in return. But that's just me, I'm in favor of 'quality over quantity ' in any Miller deal.
  6. Well I've been on cdc quite a bit longer than most people, not all - but most, who still participate regularly and while I understand it's an anonymous public forum and people will and do say what they like, many people don't appreciate being lumped into nameless stereotype groups just because they didn't leave an impression. That type of mentality isn't good for discourse here or anywhere else imo, it creates a 'me vs them' situation. And yes, I understand your comments weren't personal and I probably seem like I'm taking this too seriously, but did I leave an impression wt you ?
  7. OK Kevin, like CDC needs to be told to watch Miller.....
  8. I wouldn't call this a blockbuster by any means - that said, I don't dislike it. I think we bump ours down to a 3rd and I'm with you.
  9. I'm for trading Miller but wanted to re-sign Tanev, and I'm far from the only member with that perspective. Stereotyping groups to fit your narrative, while convenient, isn't necessary accurate.
  10. Agreed, but definitely within the realm of possibility if NJ has identified the exact player they covet - which I believe is Slapshotsky. He seems to be about as sure a top 6 forward as there is in this draft who should, because of his physical gifts, be able to contribute almost immediately.
  11. Rumor mill is suggesting that NJ is ready, willing and able to offer MTL a deal to secure the player they want at #2. In other words they're prepared to pay MTL to not pick their guy so he's still available to them. Pay with what/whom is anyone's guess?
  12. It would in a way, if it was leased, that's how we should be looking at this asset, it's only ours for a limited time frame.
  13. If you own a car you don't actually need to sell, you don't sell it until someone gives you exactly what you want for it, no?
  14. Shesterkin is playing a pretty big role there as well.
  15. I suggested a 'small scale' KABOOM a few pages back - it wasn't well received despite, in my view, addressing most every organizational need we have including: -youth, skill, cap flexibility, RHD, draft capital, and not committing huge % of cap allocation to an aging player at this point. Whether it was completely realistic or not I suppose depends on the mind-set of an NHL GM
  16. That's not unrealistic actually. But the problem is it just maintains us it doesn't advance us. Also, I think if deployed better (PP), Garland could produce b/t 15-20 more pts as well. If we simply 'maintain' and Demko has a 'normal' year then what?
  17. Mac/Makar are way better than Petey/Huggy - accept it people, it's not personal. BUT..... Demko is way better than anyone else in their entire franchise, so there's that piece too....
  18. To Van: Lafrenier, Schneider, 2023 1st. To NY: Miller (50%retained), Garland, 2022 1st.
  19. They gave up 4 years of a not insignificant amount of cap-space as well as a roster spot that'll be likely 20min +/- per night. I know some won't view that as giving anything up but some would. Imagine what Allvin/Jr could do with that cap space right now.
