  1. Interesting opinion article on the LIV tour as it relates to the PGA tour: https://www.australiangolfdigest.com.au/opinion-the-pga-tour-bet-the-house-on-one-thing-and-it-lost/
  2. Don't get me wrong Rup, I'm under no illusions as to why most of the players joined this organization, and many of the players have simply been blunt about the fact that, to quote one player, "I can play over there and in two weeks potentially be set for life financially". But in my view, regardless of the motivation, any situation that makes the PGA re-examine their practices/policies and become more transparent is good. As I mentioned already however, it's unfortunate that they have that despicable history though.
  3. I don't agree whatsoever with the human right violations from a cultural/humane/or even legal standpoint - but just from a pure sporting standpoint I think it's time the PGA has some type of competition. The PGA, despite what they would like people to believe, is the epitome of an 'old white boys' club as one will ever find - they have very little motivation to change because they are essentially a monopoly since they control the tour with the most money and 'prestige'. Any organization that makes 'old white boys clubs' re-think their place in the world order is helping make progress in a way - but again, I wish it were from a group which didn't have the unfortunate human rights issues that they do.
  4. We won't be having Miller/Boeser/BoHo/Garland all under contract and still have the cap flexibility JR said numerous times he needs, not to mention how many times JR said this organization needs to get picks/young prospects into the system. These issues cannot be addressed without some difficult choices as JR himself said during his year-end presser. You manage to trade two of Miller/Boeser/Garland and you've potentially got picks/prospects/cap flexibility in return - everything JR has been saying he needs.
  5. I question whether any of these people are really 'insiders'. They're getting a lot of exposure by fabricating stories which include the major hockey markets and who have a fan-bases large enough to include a LOT of people who will bite at any bs that's linked to their team. In my view they're essentially 'tabloid' journalists.
  6. I've said it many times in many different threads here, Allvin/JR should be targeting Clarke. LA has a stockpile of RHD and there's no room for all of them on their roster. If LA plans on taking the next step they're likely going to have to give up a blue-chip RHD prospect to address a need at the forward position and there's no reason that asset can't be going to us in exchange for Miller (in whatever package Allvin sees fit). I don't see them parting with either Durzi or Roy as both of them played key roles on the team this year and moving them in favour of a rookie isn't necessarily a move forward so that leaves Spence/Clarke/Granz as tradeable assets - Clarke is the prime piece there in my view.
  7. LOL, even when it's not his own fault, he can't help but find a way to hurt his own team in the playoffs...... Lord help whatever team overpays for him this summer.
  8. Agreed. We need to be better at every position and the one position we have an advantage in, we have zero depth. At this point we don't even know how our top guys would do in a 'normal' playoff environment as they've not have meaningful experience in that scenario. We need to add size and guys who are built to grind as the first two rounds are a battle of attrition and the following rounds are all about who makes the least mistakes and executes their game plans better. I believe we're close to being a regular playoff team - but close to being a perennial contender like JR said he wants to build - we're a ways away from that in my view.
  9. Miller + 3rd round pick this year for Clarke & Turcotte
  10. If Allvin is going to deal wt Jersey: Miller/Boeser/15OA for Zacha/Mukhamadullin/2OA They get pieces they need and we get pieces plus the coveted cap flexibility.
  11. Miller + Boeser + 15OA for Zacha + Mukhamadullin + 2OA That would be intriguing, unlikely, but intriguing nevertheless.
  12. I'm not the least bit worried about the return or where he goes - what worries me, quite a bit actually, is injury. Miller has been quite durable over the course of his career, but he isn't getting any younger and he's played more minutes the last few years then he ever has in his career. If we begin next season with Miller on the roster and he gets a long-term injury (or worse, season ending injury) before the TDL we're effed as we could end up losing him to UFA for nothing.
  13. Years ago, after he was out of the NHL, Neil Smith was asked about things such as this in a written interview (which I can't find anymore unfortunately) - he more or less confirmed that GM's/players/agents break these 'tampering' rules all of the time and the NHL either doesn't know about it or doesn't care about it. He said that occasionally, if one side or the other feels disrespected and/or things go terribly wrong one side might take offence and 'report' it to the NHL, but that most GM's/agents who have been around for a while know who those individuals are, and don't communicate with them in such a manner because they aren't 'trusted' (by the old boys club I'm assuming). Now Smith has been out of the management game for some time now and the 'old boys club' has changed members to quite a degree since then so perhaps things have changed, or perhaps not? But I find it highly, highly unlikely that ZERO talks are happening whatsoever behind closed doors even if the CBA forbids it.
  14. There were (I say were because the NCAA rules recently changed regarding the 'NIL' rules after some athletes filed a class-action suit) all sorts of rules regarding attending development camps and receiving material benefits from the pro-teams, I'm not exactly sure how these rules pertain to advice/mentoring/coaching/skills development/ect....which is why I was asking the questions myself regarding what exactly is Komisarek doing for/with the prospects?
  15. Agree AJ, by the 'book' it may have been the right call, but the NHL can't have it both ways - they can't market their players at the best in the world and say guys like Makar are 'elite' talents and then claim at the exact same time Makar didn't have control of a puck which was mere inches away from his stick blade and moving at the exact same speed as he was in the exact same direction he was moving not to mention he had control immediately before and after crossing the line.
  16. I understand, just want to clarify as often these things get announced - but seldom does anyone take the time to give a detailed explanation of what they mean. For example - Komisarek says (in the aforementioned tweet) that he will be a east-coast based mentor to the US defence prospects primarily. We all know that most (not all, but certainly most) US based defence prospects on the east coast are NCAA players - there are very strict regulations about what these players can/can't do with their affiliated clubs to maintain their 'amateur eligibility' - so what exactly is Komisarek doing with these kids? I don't honestly expect anyone here to be able to answer this question which is why I find it so odd that they (Komisarek and the Canucks) make announcements regarding roles that nobody knows what they actually do?
  17. OK, I get it. But you look at a guy like Rathbone who comes from the Pro's already where theoretically he has access to all of the 'pro' supports that an NHL team can provide for their affiliate which would include: specialist position coaching, skills coaching, systems coaching, strength/conditioning coaching, dietitians, sports psychologists, etc.....What is Komisarek providing for a guy like Rathbone that he didn't get in Abbotsford? And a prospect like Truscott, who comes from arguably the biggest college hockey school in the world, a school with the athletic budget that rivals many NHL franchises (no, not including player salaries), presumably has access to world-class levels of coaching and every other aspect related to on/off ice performance - what is Komisarek doing for him that he didn't get (or isn't still getting) in Michigan? I'm not criticizing his role - I just want to know exactly what he is doing with/for these prospects?
  18. Waiting for the 'failed asset management' cries.........
  19. I wonder exactly what this means as I hear this often - "Work with the prospects"? I mean for example let's take two random US based 'dee' prospects - Truscott and Rathbone. Is Komisarek going to their homes in the off-season and training with them? Is he in the weight-room with them, on the ice with them, going over systems, working on skill-development, strategy, PP/PK practice? What exactly is he doing that will make them better prepared for the following season that their own coaches didn't already go over with them before they left for the off-season?
  20. Well, there's nowhere to go but up, right? Guy has been beating the odds his entire life so why stop now?
  21. Not that you asked me, jm but no, I wouldn't. JR/Allvin have been clear since day 1, they want to acquire extra picks and our prospect pool is completely barren at virtually every position. Picks, specifically high picks (1st/2nd round) are a must in any trade involving our better assets.
  22. Eff Rags for '94. Eff Rags for Messier. Eff Rags for Keenan & Tortilla. Tampa in 6.
