That's the thing. Every contract Allvin signs with this franchise moving forward will set a precedent and have a ripple effect on the club. This ripple effect could be good if he signs a 'reasonable' contract below his QO or not so good (for the club anyway) if he signs for his QO. If Boeser signs for 6.75 then BoHo is likely saying to his agent that he's considerably up from that, then you have Miller who essentially doubled Boeser's production this year......where does it go from there?
-
If Brock is worth 6.75 x 3yr then what is BoHo worth when he's up for renewal essentially a year from now? I'm not debating Boeser's worth, but what would that make BoHo's next contract look like?

Two scenarios: 1. He knew and he's a morally bankrupt person who should never be allowed to be in a position of authority over others ever again in his life. 2. He didn't know and he's so incompetent as a leader he should never be allowed to be in a position of authority over others ever again in his life. One guess which one is actually more likely.......

Two questions after hearing this: 1. What kind of outright lies would Quenneville have to tell the NHL for them to allow him to re-enter the league? 2. What kind of outright lies are the NHL ready to accept in order to allow this person to re-enter their league? He played a not insignificant role in ruining a young man's life - for this he gave up his privilege of ever working in the NHL again, and in my view he should be thankful that is all that may happen to him.

If Allvin/JR can figure out a realistic deal with Brock that would be great, and I'm sure fans/ownership/management would be thrilled to have him here on the right deal. If a realistic deal doesn't work out I'd be fine looking for a young defenceman like Mukhamadullin or Ball since we need young defenceman quite badly in the organization.

If I'm Chevy, I don't do what Benning did and simply prolong the inevitable decline - I trade Scheifely sooner rather than later and maximize the return while he's at his highest worth. You could easily complete a 'retool' with the assets that a player the calibre of Scheifely would return. He has a M-NTC, but it's clear by his recent comments he's looking for a way out - plus I've heard many of the fans aren't happy with the character he showed by injuring Jake Evans in the playoffs that year. Fans believe he cost them that entire playoffs with his selfish, predatory actions. I think it would be a perfect time to move on from him if I'm Chevy.

Who will you be rooting for in this year's playoffs?

At this point it's come down to who I absolutely do NOT want to win. Do Not want to win: CGY, NYR, TOR, BOS, EDM. Don't care if they win: every other team.- 59 replies

Sounds like Scheifele is the one on the 'outs' in Wpg. He subtely laid the groundwork to either get traded and/or just leave through UFA during his end of season interviews. Cheveldayoff has to know that if this is in fact what Scheifele is planning, he absolutely needs PLD to be signed long-term there - as such I don't see them interested in moving him.

And Bains advances! Your guy Sedoff wt secondary assist on OT, series clinching winner!
-
All eyes on this game right now, it's the only one on the whl sched tonight! Edit, just went to double OT!
-
Bains with 4pts already in a possible elimination game vs Brandon. Hopefully they can close it out and advance....

Hopefully Podz plays a meaningful role down there...... -
This team proved throughout the season they could beat all the top teams - Boston, Toronto, Calgary, NYR, Colorado, Florida, Carolina, ect...we beat them all at various times......BUT, we were wildly inconsistent for a long time, and no team wins by being inconsistent. We repeatedly beat great teams only to lose to guaranteed non-playoff teams (Chi/Wpg/NJD/Det/Buf) and/or losing to the same teams we beat earlier in the season? I truly believe this is, in part, what Bruce was referring to when he spoke of the 'mentality' of this club a few weeks ago, and that it must change for this team to be better. Is that change going to come through coaching, trades, drafting, development, training, experience......I suspect it's a combination of several things but to what degree exactly who knows?

Could the question not also be, "Who has the need, the expendable assets and the cap room this off-season to trade for Miller?"
-
Or, his agent comes back to you and says his client will happily play out his contract and see what opportunities are out there when he reaches UFA - we cannot afford to let Miller walk - period. If Miller is not re-signed and still on this club beyond the next TDL he's got ALL of the leverage, JR/Allvin need to avoid that scenario at all costs.

I've got to believe that someone of JR's standing in the hockey world didn't didn't come here to be someone's puppet. So, if one believes that then JR/Allvin will decide that, not ownership. -
Demko covers up so many deficiencies on this club its hard to fathom that some people think we need a few minor moves here/there to be truly competitive - and what deficiencies Demko doesn't cover up, BB's experience has helped hide the rest of our issues. That's not a sustainable model and I can only hope Allvin/JR see this because clearly a lot of people don't.

Tonight's going to be a real test. Only 1 victory in 7 previous meetings for Abby vs Heat. Stockton are the best team in the AHL (per PCT). Should be like playoff hockey.

NHL Draft Lottery to be held on May 10th
Fanuck replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in General Hockey Discussion
https://www.tankathon.com/nhl Ran numerous times, highest I got was 6th. Most times we didn't move up or down. -
Admittedly, I don't follow them closely. But looking at DB I can see over the last 5 years they've drafted in positions 28, 26, 4, 19, 28, 5, 3, and 10 - and that's overall in the draft. You'd have to be intentionally tanking not to hit on at least a few of those, no? The one gem they got in that trade from SJ, Norris, looks like a total steal, and Batherson is playing WAY above his draft position, that always helps the prospect pool.
