  1. Washington already noticeably declining, same with Vegas, how long until it happens to TB?
  2. Agreed that his is value will go down slightly after the TDL simply because the team acquiring him loses a year (more like a playoff season really) of club controlled cost. Nevertheless his value will still be higher than any pending UFA - especially if he keeps up this torrid pace to the end. That said ive never been in camp where I feel we need to rob the other team blind in order to get a trade done. My personal belief is that JT is at his career peak right now, and maybe he stays there for 1-3 seasons, but he absolutely will inevitably decline. I'd be happy with the equivalent of a 1st, a young stud blue-chip roster d-man, and an exceptional blue-chip non-roster forward.
  3. They're going to find out what we did - he's not the same player he used to be for whatever reason?
  4. They could healthy scratch him easily enough, Martin looked fully capable when he was called into action a while ago. If, and it's a big if, Halak doesn't want to waive, watching from the press box may facilitate waiving of his ntc?
  5. Lol, Fried playing the two largest CAN markets against each other in stellar self-serving fashion. Why anyone calls this guy an 'insider' and gives his media any credibility is way beyond me?
  6. If in fact that's what happened and Halak balked at going in, I'd sit him in the press box tonight and get Martin down here asap. If Halak doesn't want to do his job here he's welcome to move on.
  7. Your guess is as good as any I suppose, I just don't see Scanlin being a regular for a couple seasons at least and there's an outside chance he never even makes that jump at all. A guy like Schenn has a way higher chance of being slotted into their lineup imo. If a deal includes Rags d-man I see either Schenn going back the other way and/or a non-roster d-man like Lundqvist coming here so they don't have to dismantle their defence.
  8. I suppose there's an outside chance one move impacts the other somewhat, but realistically Scanlin is regarded as a depth piece with some upside while Schneider is supposed to be a core foundational piece so I'm not seeing a direct correlation there myself.
  9. I agree about the value concern Alf. But that is probably being weighed against the possibility of potential income from a playoff run with no seating restrictions for the owners even if it ends up being a one and done round.
  10. Not necessarily, JR has said from the beginning he owed this group a chance to make a run at playoffs, he could've been waiting until the last moment so to speak. If there's little to no chance of PO after this weekend's games then I'm sure any offers could be revisited. Plus I still believe there's equal odds a deal as significant as a Miller trade happens in the off season.
  11. They're already quite low on quality picks, that would absolutely gut their future, but who cares about the future when you have playoffs, amirite?
  12. You're probably not too far off, and if that's accurate, and JT is at or near his career peak, that would be an instantaneously regrettable signing for this franchise.
  13. Chicago fans are calling this great asset management for their rebuild. They say he's a third line one-dimensional player on a contending team. Guess time/expected returns will tell?
  14. Garland is the type of player that drags your team into the fight whether they want to be in it or not. Boeser is the type of player who's happy to go along with whatever seems to be happening on the ice at the time. One of these is the type of player you absolutely want on your side when you reach the playoffs, the other is the type you flip to another team for the first type of player.
  15. We're darned if we do and darned if we don't. Sign him and he could have 2 or 3 productive years (maybe even 4 or so)where he earns his contract but no matter what people here say (and we all know who they are and what their arguments are) he will inevitably decline and not be able to live up to his contract which will definitely include ntc/nmc. Then what? By then we hope to contend and can't and shouldn't have an anchor contract on the books. Trade him and people will be livid when he performs well for another club while we don't see the returned assets contributing for a few seasons perhaps? Not to mention trading him now, at likely his career peak, would be taking a step back (on the ice) in order for the whole franchise to take arguably a huge step forward. One thing I don't want to have happen is the all too common cautionary tale known as the 'bad contract' and or the 'potential buyout' contract. We all snicker at the likes of other teams signing guys like Subban, Benn, Karlsson, Seguin, Skinner etc....and we all claim to know those contracts will never work out but some people think JT will sign here for below market value and not end up as another cautionary tale? Hard decisions coming either way.
  16. Be careful Alf, you make a lot of sense when you're not labeling anyone and everyone a bust lol....
  17. True, he's definitely that guy right here, right now. But we've seen that story start as a fairly tale here and end as a nightmare. The real question to me that only Miller knows is does he want to be the man here or does he want to better his chances to win cups, they could be the same thing but then again they may not be?
  18. Yes to getting Provo. No to Philly considering that unless we overpay.
  19. Peter DeBoer to Kelly McCrimmon, "we need a goalie or we're effed!" Kelly McCrimmon, "How about a fringe d-man, will that work out for you Pete?"
