  1. Might as well shut down Petey, Huggy and Demko as well, plus 2 or 3 of the equipment guys, they've worked hard, they deserve a break. Plus it will cut down on team travel expenses.....
  2. For skaters I've always understood that the Swedish 2nd Div was a hair below AHL equivalency for statistical output, but way, way higher than ECHL - this is a rough estimate as there's no such thing as a direct correlation. Not exactly sure how this relates to goal-tending statistics? https://towardsdatascience.com/nhl-equivalency-and-prospect-projection-models-building-the-nhl-equivalency-model-part-2-6f275a45e22
  3. To my knowledge, they can't find a suitable place to build one. Money isn't the issue here, location and land/property ownership is. https://theprovince.com/sports/hockey/nhl/vancouver-canucks/canucks-a-new-practice-facility-remains-a-priority-but-the-potential-locations-are-few
  4. Rule #1 of the old white boys club - nobody goes against the old white boys club.
  5. I'd consider #3 overall a HUGE win. Grab Michkov and thank the hockey gods on the way off the draft floor!
  6. Anyone thinking Bettman will enact any kind of meaningful consequence for cap circumvention in this case is fooling themselves..... This isn't even a story in my view, as nothing substantial will come of this. The only person who could force this issue is Hall, and he's not going to do that since he wants to play in the PO and he's not going to pi$$ off his GM just to get a few meaningless reg. season games in.
  7. Or worse, he'll plead not criminally responsible due to mental disorder and never even go to jail - I've seen this too many times not to believe it's a possibility here.
  8. Why just violent crimes? What would be the harm in tightening up the consequences of pretty much any crime?
  9. My money is on one of the teams with multiple first round picks (Mtl/Chi/Az) using one on Michkov. Chi/AZ aren't going to be good anytime soon, they could easily take their time and wait for him to be done in the KHL while they develop whomever else they take in the first round. If Michkov is available to us at whatever slot we end up at, it's a no brainer imo, by the time he's available hopefully management has this cap situation sorted and we're trending up.
  10. I would very pleased if they acquired Reinbacher, Just Please don't draft another nondescript, average sized middle 6 ceiling forward....Please.....no.
  11. Admittedly I was very, very skeptical of the Tocchet hiring, but he's showing me slowly I may need to reevaluate....
  12. One always hopes for more development and that prospects all find their game at the next level, but there have been literally thousands of players that could produce at the amateur level but couldn't translate that to the pros. Yes, there's always a few who fly under the radar and then become late bloomers, who knows with this kid? I know what the odds say, but I don't want to sound pessimistic.
  13. Was it TDL pressure when JR told everyone he believed this defense could bring this group into the PO when he arrived here? Was it TDL pressure last off-season when he said he was going to change the make-up of the defense and came into camp with the EXACT same group expecting different results? There a lot more examples but as I said, I don't think they're doing a bad job hockey-wise, but they're certainly not used to being under the microscope in a major Canadian hockey market with regards to dealing with media/fans.
  14. JR also said repeatedly that they tried dealing players to create the cap flexibility that they've desperately wanted since day 1, yet they couldn't do anything meaningful in that regard. He also recently said publicly that after all their efforts they may simply be left with the only option of waiting until some of these contracts expire since they're unmoveable as is, undoubtedly there's a few contracts that he's talking about including OEL. Management have said so many things and done the opposite since they've been here it's hard to believe anything they say anymore. I don't think they're doing a terrible job with the hockey part, but managing what they say in this market, with this media/fan-base, that's another story.
  15. Goid point. BoHo was about as valuable a commodity as there was at the TDL - the real work will be what Allvin does with OEL/Myers/Boeser/Garland as these contracs aren't going away easily - otherwise they would be gone already most likely.
  16. OEL is unmoveable imo, and if bought out, the penalties that creates are the worst exactly at the time where we can realistically expect to be competitive. Not sure that's a plausible scenario. Maybe in a year or two the penalties change and become more realistic. Best case scenario is his ankle injury or whatever he has keeps him out much, much longer than reported.
  17. These NESN Bruins announcers are SO awful...this TB/Bos game is only watchable w/o audio sadly.

Amazes me they both still have jobs after fat shaming Pat Maroon a couple months ago.

Old Bruins play by play goof Jack Edwards:  I'm not a fan of Cooke's antics *AFTER* he left the Canucks but to compare him to Sirhan Sirhan?  Jeez:

I really want to watch this Bos/Car game in a few minutes but I don't think I can handle those NESN commentators....sad....

  18. OEL, Poolman, Dermott, Wolanin, Breezeby.....who's next to get on IR?
  19. Just when you thought this franchise couldn't get more pathetic.....
  20. I would do this deal and then immediately look to do something similar with Boeser. The cap hits alone would be addition by subtraction. EP, Hronek, Bear could all be resigned easily and there would be flexibility to deal wt OEL/Myers if management wanted to retain and or buyout.
  21. I want to believe this but it's hard to get a read on what management wants to do versus what they're capable of doing. Since arriving Rutherford has publicly said the following: -he believes the defense is fully capable of taking this club into the playoffs (we know how this is going) -they are not interested in trading away high draft picks(we know what happened there) -they want to add cap flexibility (signed Miller, wt EP/Hronek due big raises soon) -they want to change the culture of the team (to their credit they traded their Captain which was significant) -they wanted to make significant moves on defense last off season (literally nothing was done)
  22. I don't get it, covid blip notwithstanding the NHL is generating more profit than they ever had. Franchises formerly worth less than some Okanagan real estate properties are now approaching a billion dollars in valuation, yet the NHL still cannot convince a MAJOR global sporting goods manufacturer like Nike/Adidas that it's good business to partner with them?
  23. I completely understand your reservations, but I've heard more than one analyst say Michkov's skill-set is easily as good as Bedard's....if he were available at wherever we are selecting, it would be difficult to pass up a potential generational talent like that. It could be a game-changer for this organization. But its not without risk that's for sure.
