  1. I'm sure it depends on the type of team you're talking about, a veteran team or a bunch of younger guys wt not a lot of pro experience. Jon Cooper a few weeks back said his team knows exactly how to prepare and they have 'expectations' in their organization (which is why he benched his vets one game) whereas I doubt it's the same in a place like Ottawa where their average age is barely 25yo.
  2. At the NHL level I often wonder how much of 'being prepared' to show up lies with coaching vs the individual players themselves? Tocchet himself, to his own credit, took some responsibility for the team not being prepared in AZ.
  3. Why? If a player can develop on a reasonable timeline and under reasonable coaches, what difference does it make to the organization where this happens? Now if there's questions as to how exactly a player is being developed, then I understand the concern. But I don't think there's anyone in the system who's in a bad position developmentally speaking right now is there?
  4. In a perfect world Huggy would play with Schenn and/or Bear next year, Hronek would play with whoever of those two don't play with Huggy, and we acquire an actual NHL defenceman to play 3rd pairing wt OEL. We'd then have 3 pairs of NHL caliber defense units who's pairings actually work imo.
  5. OEL had a couple very good seasons under Tocchet. Granted that was a few years ago, but perhaps a full season of good health and actual 'team structure' with the new coaching staff (including Foote) could prove beneficial to his game. Find him an actual NHL defenceman who will be responsible in his own end to pair him with and don't play him every single shift against McJesus/MacKinnon/Raantanen/Crosby/Kuch/ect.... then after one or two more seasons, his buyout is way, way more realistic.
  6. 7-2-1 in the last 10 with one of the easiest remaining schedules in the entire league.  I'm afraid we've seen this scenario before....

Maybe, with guys all playing the right way within a proper structure, we are a good team?  We have Demko back, who can carry the club when struggling. Petey, Hughes, Miller are elite difference makers.

Our annual season run to secure a crappier draft pick is like screwing timmy the mailroom clerk in hopes of getting a raise.  we're literally screwing ourselves to the middle.

  7. People want ^, but will probably get: This management group loves the Russians!
  8. I don't have a problem with ownership spending money as they see fit - the optics of the successive bad management decisions leading to all these firings/buyouts is poor, very poor though. The one constant behind all of the bad management decisions sadly this entire time, has been ownership.
  9. If this happens it means this organization would be paying two coaches (Green/BB) and 5 players (BoHo, Holtby, Virt, Poolman, Pearson) over the course of the past 18mo or so to NOT work for them. That's not even mentioning the possibility of buying out OEL which would be on the books for quite some time sadly if true.
  10. You don't see teams scoring double digits very often these days....

  11. Rutherford also said he believed this squad was a playoff team and he had complete confidence in this defense - remember that?
  12. So we can trade for anyone right now since we're not..............never mind.
  13. Management also said that they believe this club is a playoff team and that they had complete confidence in this defence - remember that?
  14. Next logical move would be to sign Petey long- term. Then build that defense.
  15. They want to focus on money - great, I've got zero issues with that. But don't then try to con society like you actually care about social change like they've been doing for years now: https://www.nhl.com/community/hockey-is-for-everyone
  16. The old white boys club that controls this league is so transparent it's embarrassing for them. They don't care about diversity, they don't care about growing the sport, they don't care about inclusion, they don't care about the integrity of the game...literally the only thing they care about is
  17. Newsflash, he doesn't care if he's right or wrong, only that people like you spread his nonsense everywhere. Job done.
  18. Not to mention those to colossal buyout hits - those were egregious contracts and will haunt them for some time.
  19. That's not what the dozens of announced trades recently indicate.......
  20. Lazar for 4th - this must be the 'major surgery' JR alluded to....

management shouldn't make trades just for the sake of making trades though

  21. Are Canucks ownership and Management aware of this, because.....someone should tell them - I vote @-Vintage Canuck-....
  22. This is a money grab plain and simple. To them, it's easier to get people's money by doing this, versus actually assembling a winning team.
