  1. This is what most people thought would happen. With pretty much every p/o team in a cap-in/cap-out situation, there needs to be domino moves before anything major happens. JP was the first domino......more will follow.
  2. Despite the terrible teams he's been part of, McCabe is an actual NHL defender - something the Laffs sorely lack unfortunately. That said, I feel this is a classic case of TDL player value inflation as you're likely never going to see an NHL GM trade a 1st rounder for a McCabe in the off-season as the main pieces of a deal.
  3. Anyone here live in a townhouse? Is it correct that the provincial government lifted all restrictions on rentals province-wide? Asking for a friend - really, he's looking around right now and wants to rent it out to extended family.
  4. I always felt WL would not have a lengthy career since he plays with reckless abandonment and has neither the body frame nor the actual hockey sense to survive a career playing like that. Nothing against his will, determination or work ethic.
  5. Hard to believe that's what people expect in a Schenn trade as well...w/o retention of course. If Allvin gets a 2nd for BB, and Schenn we'd have what, 8 picks in the first 4 rounds!
  6. Truly elite teams don't play down to their inferior adversary's level. I expect them to be full value tonight against us.
  7. Very good question. The truly scary thing is that if they didn't botch their 3 first round draft picks in 2015, they'd be far better than they are right now! The next 3 guys taken immediately after their picks in '15 (people should look that up), it's scary, could you imagine?
  8. Are you kidding, would the NHL pass over an opportunity to embarrass us during Eastern time zone prime viewing slot....never?
  9. The last Canucks GM that I can remember who routinely got the better in trades was Quinn. Burke tried, but other than the Sedin magic he pulled off at the draft, I don't think other GM's liked Burke enough to give him the time of day. The rest of the GM's in this organization.....meh.
  10. Sadly, what's even more laughable, is that with all their organizational ineptitude - they're still tied with us in the standings.
  11. This is comical. Dubass was universally lauded for blowing his wad on O'Rielly, when he should've, imo, been ridiculed for NOT addressing their defence. When they acquired O'Rielly, they absolutely had to have had some idea that Muzzin's season was in jeopardy, yet they reinforced a position (forward) that really wasn't a priority. Now even if they make it through the 1st round, I don't think anyone likes their odds against the Eastern powerhouse teams.
  12. So, what you're saying is that Montreal is.....weird?
  13. At the very least, if nothing else, in 4 years or so all the anchor contracts would have expired and or become way more palatable to buy out , that's presuming the organization doesn't just replace those with more bad contracts. JR himself alluded to that being one of the few options they have, waiting things out. And one can hope the cap goes up and there's no work stoppage....
  14. So many things have to go right for the organization, though possible, it's overwhelmingly unlikely. I'm not certain what you mean by competitive but what I see is that we're a WC bubble team in 2 years but we're trending up, not down like we are now. Then a year or two after that we can talk seriously about contending. That's how I see it playing out over the next 4-5 years.
  15. It's about all I can do to read forwards these days my friend, forget about backwards .
  16. I thought we'd learned our lesson, no? There are NO quick fixes to success in today's NHL. Multiple front office executives, dozens of various coaches, and countless players have proven that with this organization. Do it the right way, it it takes time, so be it imo. As for trying to 'convince' Petey to stay here....presumably if we offer him fair market value and he declines, then see you later - no one player supercedes the organization. We could trade him for more than enough to keep the rebuild going just fine.
  17. No way a responsible NHL GM does that imo. What if you make an 'agreement' wt TB and a better offer comes along? What if Schenn gets hurt? Too many uncontrollable factors imo to be making 'agreements' with no guarantees? You make a trade or you don't, it's that simple.
  18. The NHL is a business, if a deal was done then he'd be gone. TB isn't going to wait for a baby. There are valuable opportunities to gain points in the standings that could mean crucial home ice or not (not to mention potential injury to Schenn). That said I am surprised Pittsburgh hasn't done anything yet. Their only in a WC position by 1 measly point and Crosby/Malkin/Letang are getting older every day. Their biggest issue is literally half the roster has some sort of clause. I also expect: -Vegas to do something unexpected, because - Vegas. -Dallas to do something because their one of the oldest teams in the league and their window ain't staying open long. Pavel-Ski is turning 39yo this summer. -TB to do something because their old and their window is closing fast. -Washington, see TB above.
  19. Apparently we have one of the 'easiest strength of schedule' numbers of all the lottery teams right now, which is bad for our tank unfortunately. That said, we're trending down faster than the other lottery teams so there's that....
  20. Elliott and his enormous bottom lip know exactly what buttons to push in every market - in that regard he's no dummy; I can't say the same about people who buy his fabrications though.
