Just read back my own post and "gerrymandering" was definitely over the top hyperbole on my part, it isn't the word I wanted, and doesn't describe what I meant. I take it back. No offense intended for sure. My apologies. Night all.

For me, this current make up of the leagues personalities is pretty darn good. I think everyone gets that there is a LOT of heavy lifting, done for free behind the scenes, which is incredibly appreciated by those of us not currently doing it. That is never forgotten, even when I am mentioning some frustrating things and suggesting things that might be able to be done better. By and Large playing here is rather decent proof of approval. I think I worry a bit too much about things in broader strokes like league health, avoiding contraction in the future and parity for newb and founding father alike, along with equality and fairness. I would hope that everyone is adult enough to have conversations about those things as they relate to the game with out losing it. I know that sometimes gets hard, but that is what she said. ; p

Pick 61 and 99 are being packaged together to move up in the draft, or possibly for one of your last years draftees that is not signed yet, possibilities exist but not looking for a contract coming back. Reach out with your thoughts and I will not leave you hanging.

To be clear: while I was long winded and seemed to have a lot to say: my concern level is a 2 out of ten, just being free with my thoughts on the stuff. No offense to anyone past present or future was intended and i did try to keep it general and broad strokes. I guess end of the day it would have been nice to have some input to the cap going up rather than a top down approach, and likely that would have led to not even thinking about what to muse upon early thiis morning, shrug. Again my concern level is very low...just speaking up rather than bottling it in. Carry on with what your doing all. ; ) Happy offseason, in a day or two, to everyone. P.O>

I wish there was a more defined system possible for contract negotiations. I dont think agents deserve most of the BS they get, even from myself over the years, but at the same time it sure feels like an adversarial system to begin with. Sometimes the agenting side seems to be intent on shaping teams composition/makeup which feels from my experience like jerrymandering the league: which doesn't sit right because these agents are also GM"s in the league, often top performing GM's. THe view from down here makes it look even though it isn't exactly true, it looks like contract extensions are a losing battle, as a random GM's perspective. I know I get really angsty over them as i have been just complety burned on them before. Not worth citing examples but the bottom line is I wish there was a less adversarial approach to contract negotiations, but I haven't really got a good suggestion yet. Was toying with the idea of using the exact NHL numbers for any given player, same years, same price same clauses...but that would entail and entire redo of our signing system to determine who and how those contracts would be won or maintained. Shrug. I think about it often but have yet to come up with a valid suggestion. I think it is fair to say that the league does try to use contract negotiations as a tool for manipulating the league. By and large though, I think it is pretty smooth most of the time. Sometimes i have to grin when a 3rd liner doesn't agree with his fit on my club but loves the idea of being a fourth liner on someone elses, or doesn't like my offer of 12m over 4 years but will take 9 over three from another GM...things that just dont add up in a 'reality based' game. Shrug..i am just musing out loud, not aiming anything at anyone. Bottom line is I appreciate all the work all the folks do to keep this thing going, there are aspects that I wish were different. I will often trade away a pending FA just to avoid the angst and anxiety of negotiating his next deal, knowing that I will feel, correctly or incorrectly, like I am being screwed in the negotiation. There is also a hard lack of appeal when sides are far apart and there should be a recusal if any agent has offered a trade for a player in the last season or two; that agent shouldn't be the guy pushing hard for a huge payraise on that player, just sayin....(things i can recall happening over the years are coming to mind but again: just musing out loud about what I would change if i could and had a better suggestion in place) Might as well add that I really do feel the cap being higher than the NHL's is just a bad idea all around and very self serving to the clubs that want to hoard talent. If it was announced with the dispersal draft rules, it might be a little better feeling, but I think forcing GM's to make tough decisions would have been the better idea. Not a hill i want to die on though. Just for the record, I don't like it when year after year after year the mantra has been "we aim to mimick the real NHL in every possible detail" right up till you have three 2nd lines and want to keep them all so now the cap can go up? seems bad to me. CHeers all, hope that my open communication is taken for what it is meant: trying to think of ways to make it better and feel more fair. The typical league response for ever has been to resist changing league mindset and lose players before reluctantly changing league mindset: So be sure I not just bitchin for the sake of it, and I am not posting from an angry place, I am happy but want to speak my mind for the betterment of the league. I am open to being wrong too, just honest reflection of how I feel about some stuff. hehehe. You know I am feeling good when my wall of text crits you for 12k Damage. lol You are all appreciated. EDIT: I don't think we could find anyone willing to do it, but if the agents were NOT also GM's in the league, that might make everything settle nicely, but i think the concept of using real NHL deals as cited on CapFriendly might be the ultimate way forward: then fit and feel et cetera would play a huge part in who signs where, or perhaps all your UFA's are signed at once using a Random Number Generator: enter in all 6 or whatever UFA names and hit the shuffle button: the bottom third just dont sign and go to free agency...or some version of that which is automated and not open to the perception of manipulation. Shrug....nothing of immediate concern at all. just spitballing. Have a greate day everyone.

I get all weepy when i remember the Muppets "Time in a bottle" song/skit from when i was a kid. Wish my old man was more of a family man. I played football to a high level, made the western canadian allstars in Junior. My dad never saw a single down of my sporting life. You sound like your kids won't have to say similar things when they are fifty. Good on ya, and good on Mike for taking the time, but i have to ask: Do you have a tutu to wear when you help her practice, Mike? edit: oh wow, i found it on Youtube, hehe.

about the last time i was at 'the clubs' was a university hotspot in Fredericton New Brunswick called Sweetwaters, pretty sure it was a chain as there was one in Victoria too, but I have no clue, maybe just a popular name for a dance club. Anyways, i was in my mid 30's and my boss was over fifty. We were watching all the little finger puppets grinding on the dance floor and my boss leans in and asks "How many of these girls do you think are using their older sisters ID?" and that was when I realized I was too old for the clubs, and so did he. We left about ten minutes later and I have not been to a dance club since. (I think you might have meant gentlemans club, but in this case it was just a popular dancehall.)

Ask them if they know where to hide a whole Army (in your sleevy)

While I was more hopeful that the 40 some-odd regular NHLers being in the pool more than teams can accommodate would work nicely for bottom clubs to flesh out a more competitive team, for league parity, I can see where this decision is coming from. No real objection, just curious if the other side of that decision was debated among the exec or if mostly folks just wanted to add more stars to their starstudded lineups. hehehe. *rooting for the underdog*. There is the real peril that this inflation will stretch the gap, so to speak, which could be long term unhealthy decision for the leagues future prosperity. Having said that, I can dig the higher cap numbers too, so not much concern outside of the general question.
-
I really like the help from the collective group of agents, executive and GM's at large. It is on the whole a good community. I have been open with my health issues in the past, and they are an active barrier to my full enjoyment of life, but generally, things go smooth here. Good call out, i guess i just wanted to extend it to pretty much the league at large right now, Good folks, good times.

Congrats to both amazing clubs GM's on making the finals, @aGENT's Colorado Avalanche, and @Mike Vanderhoek's New Jersey Devils. What a season, what a final this is shaping up to be. Thrilled with either outcome but as an underdog fan, I will be nominally cheering on the Aves, with three skaters. Honestly though, well done to both of you, the next two weeks is for all the marbles!

Please ensure this was added to the CBA as no one, including me, will recall the executive in the position between now and the deadline next year. Much appreciated and yeah it is probably there already, but this seemed faster, even if redundant. ; p

I think Gurianov is greater than his current body of work testifies to. Good pick up Just at a glance, his final ten games with Montreal were flat, with drastically reduced minutes, so i am counting those out as a "tankmode'' club tactic. BUT his eight games directly before those final ten ... 4 goals and 3 assists is more like what I expectted out of Denis after his great 'bubble season" of 20/21 was it? or 19/20...cant recall but he was on fire that short year. With the right usage and linemates he is a year in and year out half a point per game kind of guy, and being taller than the average< he is likely only now reaching his 'best years'. I like him, which is rare, as he is russian, i think, and i rarely like them.

Aquilini was livid that Canucks picked Juolevi over Tkachuk
Primal Optimist replied to -DLC-'s topic in Canucks Talk
it is extremely unfortunate that Olli's knee injury was so career crippling, again hindsight, but yeah, it was sad to see him in camp pushing 100% to keep up with the teams high flight skaters pushiing through that knee issue, even post recovery: when they were in Victoria for preseason that year...you could see the pain on his face and you could see he was only a few steps behind the teams fastest. Olli not working out with the team or the NHL was 100% injury related and nothing I can see as a knock against his character, skills or willingness to put in the work and the effort. Sadly, we will never know what a healthy Joulevi would bring to the club long term. He never had a chance to show us. -

The Seattle Kraken seek to void Jonas Johansson's contract with us as he has signed in the SHL over in Sweden to a two year deal and will be playing with Farjestad BK. https://www.rotowire.com/hockey/player/jonas-johansson-4463

Epic final four, and C2X missed by 9 points!! wow.

Seattle is pleased to have re-signed four of our pending RFA's. In particular we feel Taylor Raddysh should be able to hold his roster spot in camp and we hope to see Lucas Carlsson fight for one of his own. I am happy to see Cooper Marody and Jushua Dunne will continue their development under our banner. Thanks to agent @Relyt Krets for the extra work put in. I will be evaluating the fiscal side of the house between now and the draft, and Seattle most likely will be looking to trim the depth just a little in the coming weeks. Always interested in draft picks. Coveted and still producing; Evgeni Malkin may be available before the draft. His L-NTC means he will go to any top six team in either Conference: 12 teams may reach out if Evgeni is the piece you are missing to go over the top next year! Logan Stanley is also available for those seeking to bolster their D depth, as is the Rights to Mattias Janmark a solid mid player value.

We are thrilled to sign these fine young gentlemen to their respective ELC's. We will dedicate significant resources down with the Lake Cowichan Kraken this season and going forward as a rock solid investment of these skilled athletes. Filling a club's roster from within is key to success in any format, but it may be the foundation block of a successful keeper league like this one. Happy to have a round in the playoffs under my belt for my first season, but I will certainly not rest at losing in round one. Next up is to deal with our RFA's and watch the draft lottery, we dont a horse in the race, but its still fun to see.

I like the data, it is interesting to have it compiled for sure.

This was a quick one, but we accomplished our goals: get value for Alec now that our playoffs have come to an early end: free up contract space, and invest in very capable young men who are showing better than their draft positions would have suggested. With both players in the NCAA currently, and one that doesn't need an ELC offer until this time next year, both trending up, I think we ticked all our boxes. Thanks to Snowflake for a decent chat and several rounds of back and forth before settling on this offer and acceptance. Good luck to Alec in his future endeavors and good luck to Montreal going forward.

Woke up on time to pick, dogs demanded a walk first...hahaha.. Seattle selects Dman Dennis Gilbert @Zenflamesfan I believe you are on the clock now.
