  1. THis is a topic around my home a fair bit. Generally speaking my wife and I agree that if we collectively rounded up the world's billioinaires and chopped their heads off in a soccer stadium for crimes against Humanity, we would get more of it 'right' than 'wrong'. Where she and I disagree is specifically on Elon Musk: I like him and what he is trying to do. I don't argue that he can be a nutbar at times, genius walks a dangerous line between sane and insane for sure. ((prior to 2008 I was 99th percentile across five aptitudes myself, and today I think I might be almost irretrievably nuts.)) But the overall goals and accomplishments in Elon Musk's case, I think, make him one of the better billionaires on the planet. Personally: i think having a billion dollars for one person should be a crime globally. Imagine a thousand millionaires for every billion held by a single billionaire. It is staggering how many would have to be f%$#d over in order to get a billion dollars, but i digress. I like Elon of all the world's billionaires the most. if he was collateral damage in the great billionaire purge, we MIGHT be cutting off our noses to spite our faces though. rofl
  2. Assignment: the Seattle Kraken assign Joshua Dunne to the minor league affiliate Lake Cowichan Kraken IR Activation: the Seattle Kraken activate Gustav Nyquist from IR>
  3. So glad this worked out, realized before the deadline I needed to not pass Edmonton, but try to stay ahead of Vegas. Whew. Just gotta stick the landing!
  4. A three year deal would only be buying one UFA year, i think. So offer him the 10% pay raise on year one, another 10% on year two and the 'over three million' for that one ufa year. year one: 2.42 million year two: 2.662 million year three: 3.15 Million ------------------------------- Total: $8,232,000.00 AAV: $2,744,000.00 THeoretically of course.
  5. The Seattle Kraken are sitting nicely where we want to be: home ice advantage vs the Vegas Golden Knights if everything stays the same for another week...
  6. Assignment: the Seattle Kraken assign Radim Zohorna to the minor league affiliate Lake Cowichan Kraken. Recall: the Seattle Kraken recall Joshua Dunne to fill that vacancy.
  7. I can settle this in a neat clean Solomon kind of a way. You're both bums, even if you are each ahead of Seattle in teh Standings.
  8. Allrighty, backing away from my concern, let me know when it is my pick.
  9. It does seem the exec has made up its mind, which is very much understandable. Anaheim has 32 players right now but 8 of them expire as UFA's in a couple weeks The Islanders have 29 (7 of them unsigned draftees) players right now but 6 of them expire as UFA's in a couple weeks 61 total players minus the 14 expiring deals is 47 total players with rights beyond this summer. So if we do two rounds of pics that would grab pretty much all the guys: so is the plan to let the pending UFA's go to free agency AND THEN draft from the remaining? Or draft including the pending UFA's? We could stick the unsigned draftees back into this coming summer draft, even if the three 2021 draftees would be considered overagers, there are only three of them... that would bring the total of contracted guys down to 40: one round of picks and the final ten have their deals voided and they go to UFA this summ? Just a suggestion to make the impact the lowest possible on the existing clubs. One pick each is very low impact on our cap situations and each club can pretty much pick from cheap to expensive or i presume opt not to pick anyone at all and trade their pick to another club? I am just spitballing ideas, because if all 61 players and then all the draft picks go to the diispersal draft, that is at least 2 assets going to each club and whereas this is an unforseen situation even up to after the deadline: no one had a chance to work on freeing up cap space except for those in the know about the future planning for these vacant teams.... which isn't ideal, but then none of this is. SO yeah, just spitballing ideas. edit for notes: looks like just 8 RFA players on Anaheim, and 14 including the unsigned draft picks with the isles Final edit: I could, relatively quickly, work out a fair simple 30 dispersal draft eligible guys from each roster by using NHL RFA status: simply voiding the draft picks each of the two defunct teams currently owns and putting their draftees back into this coming GML entry draft. From above notes there would be roughly 25 such RFA status players currently under contact between the two clubs and simply round up to 30 total by birth date. the youngest assets NOT considered RFA's by the NHL rules after April 14th are included in the dispersal draft until there are 30 total assets to be drafted: everyone else goes to free agency this summer? Again this would mitigate the total impact down to the lowest possible fair level of one pick each in reverse standings order. let me know what you think and I would be happy to get to work on such a list which would be transparent, fair but not onerous on our already stretched caps and also have an added bonus of putting some great players in the summer UFA mix for clubs to bid on like we would normally do with UFA's. if your minds are set and you have it figured, please just say so and I will do what ever the deal is when the time comes.
  10. I know folks want to see a tank job for the best lotto odds, but I am still not interested in that style of sportsmanship, and so I am proud of our Canucks since the deadline: fighting for their own jobs and to prove they belong in the NHL> I feel next year will be a huge step forward for the club and we have a lot of the right pieces: the next advances will be by subtraction. Trade before the season starts and a buyout will move out two defenders that eat a lot of cap space. We already have a new Dman to more than fill those shoes and a free agent attraction isn't unlikely this summer. Go Team!!! Keep up the winning culture. (even the best odds of winning the new shiny kid are 75% against winning the lotto so imo not worth the culture impact to lose for) Also: for those interested in trying keeper league fantasy hockey that is based right here on CDC, send me a message, I will gladly answer any questions you may have. Two openings in GML Fantasy Keeper League Hockey.
  11. whoops, wrong thread. delete please?
  12. The Seattle Kraken are pleased to announce our Three Stars for the Month of March!! First Star of the Month: Good Goaltending is needed in a good playoff run, and Jacob Markstrom is working hard to provide me with good playoff goaltending. First Star with 90 points in March!!! Second Star of the Month: Evgeni Malkin, with his fourth strait 3stars appearance and 92 points. Third Star: The Kraken Blue Line!!!! represented by Gustav Forsling, who will get the star, our entire Blueline has really had an amazing March. Honourable mentions all our Dmen nominated who did not win a star.
  13. End of the day, you gotta do what you gotta do, I hope every GM will fish hard for two more players as the proposed solution is drastic and almost irreversable: yeah we could have an 'expansion draft' when we find new GM's but the far more likely result is more shrinkage in six months or a year, eventually spiraling to a defunct league. Not being dramatic: as most of you know I am a retired federal and military spook with deep training in analysis, not that you need that to see that this solution solves the immediate vacancies problem, but doesn't solve the long term issue of attrition. By far the best outcome would be that we all put in some work to try to find two more players. I would suggest also that perhaps teams of three GM's for each vacant club take on the job of caretaking; it would keep the clubs current and in good standing, and able to draft, while a triumverate of governance would keep shenanigans to a minimum and keep dealings above board. At least two, but three is better. If the exec is sure none of these suggestions will solve the issue: I am fine with contraction if that is the final choice. ((i too hope that a plan to hold an expansion draft is on the backend of that plan for when we do find new GM's. Without new blood, this league like all the others will die sooner than later.)) That is all i got, not looking to argue, just my two cents.
  14. Arby18_ "we got the meats" indeed: lean cold Kaut's on sale?
  15. Stop the Presses: Kraken short list for Three Stars of the Month of March just released: Evgeni Malkin and Jacob Markstrom are battling for First Star with 92 and 80 points respectively in the month: and MARKSTROM has one more game tonight to seal the deal. Fully 4 of our Blue Liners are also in a tight battle for third star: Gustav Forsling, Matt Grzelcyk, Alec Martinez and Vlad Gavrikov are all between 50 and 53 points Josh Mahura, 4 points back of them is in action tonight making it very interesting on the back end, but so is Forsling! Rounding out the race for a star of the month is Calle Jarnkrok (47pts), Boone Jenner (55), and Mattias Janmark (43) The final ranking will be announced in coming days as we watch the final two weeks of the season trickle by, ramping up to playoff Action for the Seattle Kraken!!!!
  16. Assignment: the Seattle Kraken send down Mike Hardman to the Lake Cowichan Kraken, he is waiver ineligible. Recall the Seattle Kraken recall Radim Zohorna from the Lake Cowichan Kraken.
  17. when this commercial came out i was on the floor laughing, and foolishly chose to explain to my wife why. Her sister pretty much was the one opening the door in a real life version I experienced years earlier, and it made me howl. Wife's sister declared out of the blue one day "I heard Kris turned you down the other night, i wouldn't, I have been horny as hell for weeks and if you want a BJ i wont tell anyone". or some version of that..it was 30 years ago now, lol and the sister in law is on her second marriage. for the record, I quickly left the room (but now 30 years later kind of regret taking the high road) Edit: ffs, just remembered that same sister in law came to visit us on an army base posting years later: got her labia pierced and couldn't wait to show me, IN FRONT OF HER SISTER, my wife. To this day I think I married the only one in her family worthy of being married to, buuuuuut....for 'fun' the other sister was maybe the better choice? lol
  18. IR Request: The Seattle Kraken would like to place Marcus Pettersson on IR https://www.tsn.ca/nhl/injuries listed under Pittsburgh's section. Recall: The Seattle Kraken recall Boris Katchouk from the minor league affiliate Lake Cowichan Kraken.
  19. It is sort of kind of like a double negative that one has to think through twice..in a way. Perhaps a single positive position like this: Until 24th Birthday: - 150 NHL game threshold (100 games for goaltenders) Until 25th Birthday - 100 NHL game threshold (75 games for goaltenders) Until 27th Birthday - 50 NHL game threshold (25 games for goaltenders) or some iteration of that.
  20. Happy to have Boone Jenner locked up for what could be the rest of his career in Seattle. Admittedly, I was hoping for something more in line with his NHL deal, but the million dollar premium still leaves value with this player for the foreseeable future. His NHL club is struggling this year, literally the worst club in the league, and so we envision the long term situation with Boone to have a lot of upside, after this season plays out.
  21. You get that stat off the back of a 2018 WJC hockey card?
  22. Assignment: the Seattle Kraken assign Juuso Parssinen to the minor league affiliate Lake Cowichan Kraken. Recall: the Seattle Kraken recall Mike Hardman from the Lake Cowichan Kraken.
  23. I really hope Ethan Bear is a Vancouver Canuck next year, and hopefully for three years coming, if his agent says it will be a one or a three, lets do THREE!! Honestly, he put up a point every four games, not super fantastic but not his job either, in his small showing of 5 on 5 hockey as a Canuck he is a plus player with so few points, which points directly to how effective he is at defending. At this point, arguably an upgrade over OEL at a smattering of the price.
