Will Wheaton, is that you? hehehe, one of W.W.'s most oft repeated phrases is "live long and suck it, nerd!"

Welp, you can't argue with a guy who can literally make brass knuckles out of his championship rings.

Assignment: the Seattle Kraken assign William Eklund to the Minor League Affiliate Lake Cowichan Kraken. Recall: The Seattle Kraken recall Juuso Parssinen.

The Seattle Kraken seem to be firing on all cylinders since the deadline, with a top five performance in points over the last 7 days. GM P.O> was caught speaking candidly on tape...."We needed to ensure we stayed ahead of Vegas, but we really didn't intend to make up ground on Edmonton, but at the end of the day, we are not afraid to match up against a strong Central Division wildcard team if that is the hand we are dealt. Obviously as the team manager, I have some means at my disposal to keep the plan set, but the more we look at clubs like Nashville and ST Louis, the more comfortable we are with the idea of going through them in round one." Bold forward looking statements from this first year GM, but did I do enough at the deadline? Sometimes less is more.

Since October 26th, when I took over the Seattle Kraken GM position, I have worked with an eye to just how well crafted the club was when I got here. Often the move I didn't make was the better move, in all the discussions I have had to date with a great many of my fellow GM's. Seven moves were deemed decent enough to enact over the four months and a week of my tenure. We lost Jeremy Lauzon to waivers early as he hadn't worked in the NHL in some time at that juncture and I had some youth to bring up. I identified our prospect pool and built up a plan for their integration into the mainstream club. As part of that overall concept, I decided to move on from young unsigned Russians, due to the international situation that has been ongoing for more than a year now. Reports are that some Russian hockey players are already on the front lines in Ukraine is a scary thought, for anyone holding their rights, and with a future somewhat unpredictable, I felt it best to move on from them. Probably in an overabundance of caution, but still, nothing I was uncomfortable with, moving out my predecessor's Russian picks. Early on we said goodbye to arguably the best of them in Pavel Mintyukov, a great talent (i think one that is already in North America too) but an expendible one to bring in Juuso Parssinen for immediate help (100 pool points in two months of having him before a day to day injury took him out of our lineup end feb.) We also managed to add targets Aleksi Heimosalmi, Topi Roni, Santeri Hatakka, and two draft picks in the same deal along with assets Shane Bowers, John Beecher, Jordan Gustafson as well, helping to flesh out our minor league team. For just the one very good Russian prospect. Parssinen has not disappointed us at all, still thrilled for that trade, and Aleksi and Topi have yet to even be signed, they are so fresh. Another young Russian, Vicktor Neuchev, was moved out for Mikko Kokkonen and Lucas Carlsson bolstering our young defensive stable with solid future contributors. We managed to re-sign J.T. Compher to a reasonable three year deal and then moved out another Russian prospect in Alexander Pelevin for Boris Katchouk, who is likely to be called up tomorrow to check on his development. This brings me to the trade deadline and my final move of the season, regarding players in and out: Keeping an eye on where we are in the standings, not wanting to deflate my club by any means, but realizing a need to keep up with the many additions Vegas has put in the last month or so, I had to concede Noah Gregor and a pick, along with Gavin Bayreuther, and our final Russian unsigned prospect Daniil Ivanov to land playoff helpers on the bottom six: Saku Maenalanen and Vincent Desharnais, and two 3rd's one in each of the next two drafts. The too long didn't read version, Since oct 26th: 8 assets OUT: Noah Gregor, Gavin Bayreuther, Daniil Ivanov, ARI 2nd 2023, Alexander Pelevin, Vicktor Neuchev, Pavel Mintyukov, Jeremy Lauzon 17 assets IN: Juuso Parssinen, Saku Maenalanen, Vincent Desharnais, Boris Katchouk, Mikko Kokonen, Lucas Carlsson, Jarrett Tyszka, Josh Dunne, Aleksi Heimosalmi, Topi Roni, Santeri Hatakka, Shane Bowers, John Beecher, Jordan Gustafson, TOR 3rd 2023, LA 3rd 2024, WPG 3rd 2024, TBL 3rd 2024 The club was in amazing shape when i got here, and I have added picks and prospects to flesh out the teams depth without substantially selling off any great pieces, although I know Noah Gregor is a great player and we wish him well with the Kings, and of course Pavel Minyukov is a stellar blueline prospect, you have to give to get and I feel we got what we needed at relatively low costs. Now to play out the final 20 games and hope we did enough to be a match for Vegas, whom we believe will be our first round matchup, if we continue on the playoff bound trajectory.

I had a blast at the deadline, tried a lot of ideas, but in the end we added some playoff depth and a prospect, and we turned a late 2nd into two thirds. Stated Goal is to try to win my first playoff series. Now the work is done, we wait and see. Thanks to Arby_18 on talks and ultimately a trade. it is a finness move in that we dont want to pass Edmonton, but we do want to hold home ice over Vegas; now steady as she goes.

I fully expect we will meet in the first round, and I don't like my chances, to be honest, thus my final trade at the deadline, but I am happy to shake hands, go to our corners and come out swinging. Best of luck with your club, and frankly I do hope we meet up in the first round, may the best club win!

I am near the oldest, my balls must be the lower of them all.

Assignment: the Seattle Kraken assign Logan Brown to the minor league affiliate Lake Cowichan Kraken Activation: the Seattle Kraken activate David Gustafsson from IR.
-
shouldnt have anything to do with my trade to acquire him...edit: and if it does, wow that puts a whole nother level of headache into making trades..tracing the 'lineage' of how a player came to be in the posession of a trade partner?
-
i acquired him via trade not waivers.?
-
As Boris Katchouk is 24 until the offseason, and he has only played 58 NHL games, ASSIGNEMENT: The Seattle Kraken assign Boris Katchouk to the minor league affiliate Lake Cowichan Kraken.
-
My understanding was that Boris Katchouk can be placed directly in my minors as he is waiver free? I will triple check that and try to make accomodations before 10am tomorrow if he is not waiver free. In the meantime: We felt the best move with our Russian unsigned prospect was to acquire a North American player with some upside and so we actioned that concept with the aquisition of Boris Katchouk. While not a blockbuster deal, we feel Boris is just getting his NHL legs under his 6'2" 205 pound frame and we got him as he enters his golden window for peak Katchouk. ; ) Thanks to Gally and Cabby in Florida for decent talks that led to this deal. Welcome to Seattle, we feel you will contribute nicely next year in our bottom six doing what you do best. Five seasons removed from a 37 point playoff run with the Soo in the OHL, we know Boris is a skilled player in all facets of the game, and while he may have to settle for a role in the bottom six, his well rounded skillset tend to make his career longevity a bit more on the upside than most bottom sixers. Happy to have him. we will sort out his waiver ineligibility and make appropriate arrangements before 10am tomorrow.

I can not wait to see Aatu Raty again, not showing up on the scorecard his first game was a given, and nothing bad happened when he was on the ice either. In 7 and a half minutes he had one hit recorded and won 2 of 3 faceoffs. Steady as she goes, Welcome to what was your home the whole time Aatu! Thanks for doing the thread in a unique way, I appreciate it, as i am sure many more do also. Lets give all the young blood some icetime this game and see what we got for next year!!
