  1. Lotto race current to this morning, done in points behind number 1...and yes i added the capitals for grins 1 0 2 +183 3 +213 4 +643 5 +841 6 +844 7 +848 8 +937 9 +962 10 +1028 11 +1086 12 +1220 13 +1430 14 +1478 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 15 +1543 16 +1576
  2. Pretty sure we are stuck with the awards for this year, as we don't change rules mid season, generally. I like the idea that was put forward where we award for the things we have already said we would like to give points to: hits, blocks, faceoff%...nothing says we can't adjust the awards criteria in the offseason to give say the top 5 shot blockers extra points or hitters or faceoff guys...that is one that isn't subjective in any way, would tie to the actual nhl.com stats pages and therefore wouldn't be 'biased' in any way shape or form..however having said that I like it as it is, the few years I have been here not one award was "WHAT THE HELL< WHY THAT GUY?"...and so i can't say that I have seen any bias in who gets the awards..if it happens to affect the standings...well there is no crying in baseball.
  3. I don't think it is bias if we all vote on which player gets the points for any given award, but maybe we should do vote 2 weeks before the trade deadline and then those votes would be tabulated for the end of the year..then there is no personal squeeker of a playoff race being decided by the votes...its all been voted on 2 months earlier before anyone knew what the races would be.
  4. ^ 4k is not bad when you consider the East's average points so far this season are 4588 and the West's average is 4219. The overall league average is then 4404. Not to be all analytical, but there are only 4 teams outside the range that I would consider "parity" at the bottom of the standings this year and that is cool! At the same time there are marginally 3 or 4 teams above what could be considered 'parity' also, but that will happen each and every year, and is not so high above as to cause me any concern. In short, if the 26th team in the league ends up 200 points below the conference average, that is pretty good parity. I know the draft will help the last 4 teams out also, as it gives them assets...my guess is that next year will be even tighter! (edit) 200 points behind conference average is less than 5% off the average, and that is pretty tight really!
  5. It appears to be all sewn up out West, but the East's Metro Division is the tightest race in the league! Of course I forgot about league awards, but I dig that all 30 GM's vote on which players get what awards. The biggest race remaining by the way is that Washington, Carolina, Pittsburge and the Islanders are four teams basically fighting for 2 playoff spots and separated by just 146 points in total. With 4 games remaining on average for each player on each team, it is going to come down to the final wire!!! 6. the only current player who may be a buyout candidate is Booth, but as the OP already said, that might not happen. He could enjoy a good last year here, maybe play 2nd or 3rd line depending on who is picked up in the offseason, or he could be traded away cheaply. I don't see any other player in the system being bought out however.
  7. Taking a look at my playoff lines....I didn't think it would break this well for me at the deadline..but this is the team that so far has been guaranteed a spot in the post season by NHL.com...more will be locked in this coming week as well..!
  8. 4 games to go, and one Chad Johnson game in those 4 will trigger the FC. COlorado looks like they are getting the Rangers 3rd round pick, because there is one more back to back remaining for Boston's netminders.
  9. One week to go, part of me hope's Datsyuk isn't at 100% yet...
  10. Washington may not be seated at the table just yet, but it is proving inevitable. Carolina and Pittsburgh are still working hard to bump the Caps down to wildcard status or possibly out of the playoffs...this is really getting close and down to the wire! I also really want to point out just how tough the Metro Division is right now: The 6th place team out of 7 in the division is only 218 points out of a playoff spot right nowwith 5 or 6 games to go! 12. My wife and I are having our 17th anniversary this May, wow indeed....but when we were dating she beat Golden Axe with one quarter....and I knew I must marry this woman! She has played everquest right up through wow, and the failed ones too....conan, star wars...some others in the MMO catagory, and she thinks Wildstar is really infectious too, she pre-ordered. I have not yet but I will.
  13. It is bitter sweet, I am so glad i found a gem in the rough and that hockey life turned back rightside up for this guy!!! he never got a good shot after the shelacking he suffered in net for New York where he let in i think 6 goals a few years back...then he gets a callup in Phoenix and played lights out for four games!!!!! Now look at him? Except that I traded him away, and didn't expect him to pass the overunder that I set. It appears he is on the brink now!! Bitter Sweet.
  14. hahaha, first person shooters and I do not get along! I played a mix of zelda, final fantasy 7 and later kingdom hearts which got me hooked on RPG's...and then along came massively multiplayer online RPG's....you play your game but in a world where 10,000 other folks are playing it with you! I am about to buy Wildstar to check that MMORPG out, but after a decade, World of Warcraft has lost my attention. Eat Drink, Game. whatever you do have fun with it. p.s.: you guys, and this game are fun indeed!
  15. The New York Rangers Three Stars: March FIRST STAR Jarome Iginla Jarome had a simply outstanding month in March. Iginla led all players with 13 goals in March and added four assists for 17 points in 17 games. He scored on a league-best 31 per cent of his shots over the month. Incredible forward power! SECOND STAR Mike Smith Despite being injured on the 24th day of the month, and not returning to action yet, Mike Smith has siezed the 2nd star of the month of March. With 7 wins, a shutout and an assist Mike nailed 90 points in a month where he missed the final three games! Earning him 2nd star honours! THIRD STAR Eddie Lack "HI, I am Eddie". Since being acquired mid season, Eddie Lack has appeared at times a reluctant star. With 6 wins, an overtime loss and a shutout to his credit in the month, Eddie has quietly made Rangers History. two goaltenders in the 3 stars of the Month. With Mike Smith injured on the 24th, Eddie can look to be the man the team will lean on in net in the final stretch towards the playoffs.
  16. With a dirty dozen nights to go, and 6 or 7 games left....Calling FLorida and L.A. as having clinched Division and Conference, in the east and west respectively. new Jersey has clinched their Division also, but in the central, we can not call it yet, with The Jets chasing the Wild hard and only 111 points of separation!! ATLANTIC 1 Florida Panthers 5324 Z 2 Ottawa Senators 4939 X 3 Boston Bruins 4807 X METROPOLITAN 1 New Jersey Devils 5046 Y 2 New York Rangers 4703 X 3 Washington Capitals 4511 WILD CARD 1 Buffalo Sabres 4671 X 2 Carolina Hurricanes 4378 3 Pittsburgh Penguins 4359 4 New York Islanders 4279 5 Detroit Redwings 4176 6 Tampa Bay Lightning 4005 7 Toronto Maple Leafs 3975 8 Montreal Canadiens 3871 9 Philadelphia Flyers 3550 CENTRAL 1 Minnesota Wild 4757 X 2 Winnipeg Jets 4546 X 3 Chicago Blackhawks 4145 PACIFIC 1 Los Angeles Kings 5226 Z 2 San Jose Sharks 4650 X 3 Phoenix Coyotes 4612 X WILD CARD 1 Vancouver Canucks 4510 X 2 Edmonton Oilers 4217 3 Anaheim Ducks 3888 4 Colorado Avalanche 3823 5 Nashville Predators 3740 6 St Louis Blues 3712 7 Calgary Flames 3203 8 Dallas Stars 3165 9 Columbus Blue Jackets 2948 X = clinched play-off berth y = clinched Division Z = clinched Conference
  17. buy what you like, but I will take a PC any day! I have had every consol up to and including the 360/PS4/ahhh the nintendo one we gave away to my sister in laws kid...can't recall the name...the one with the numchuck controllers...in the end we only ever used the xbox and the nintendo one to load dvd's onto our living room and bedroom tv's...and then streaming came along and ended the need for the consols. I really dig the power and diversity of my PC, and have had one since the ..yikes i guess the early 80s. My first was a VIC 20...lol edit: THis guy played PONG in the 70's...hahaha....
  18. I like steam but my last game download wasn't that fast either...hrm Europa Universalis was it..played it a few weeks and moved on, but cheap enough!
  19. No offense taken. I try not to mention the 90's in any of my Fantasty Rangers dealings, but since you brought it up, we are really really really really sorry for both the Stanley Cup finals and also the Messier thing.
  20. If anything, this league has made me appreciate other teams in the league, so the playoffs without the Canucks, assuming they don't make it, won't be too terrible.
  21. Oh man, and we are firing on all cylinders today in Madison Square Garden! haha. Iggy, Mez, Backlund, Stajan, Hudler, Michalek all on the scoreboard and its only 3:30pm..nice. Hopeing to move up a couple places in the standings to solidify the New York Rangers 'comeback' from back to back 23rd place finishes. EDIT: currently 7th place, would love to catch 5th before the 13th!
  22. Six Things: inside a Canucks Game. 1) TheMinister is a very nice gentleman indeed. Wish I had more time to spend chatting. 2) When the Canucks are off their game this season they are really off their game. Not complaining, but I could tell from the first 4 shifts that it was going to be a night where the Ducks were on the highlight reel instead of our boys in blue. 3) Go with your Gut. I have often thought Booth was a bit of a doosh (spelling error?) But when he appeared on the jumbotron wearing that bandana and my buddy who is an Islander's and Leafs fan says "Who is that Doosh?" I laughed and had to agree, as deep down in my gut I have known him to be one from that early hunting trip when he first got here...and he has never really improved my opinion of him. Sigh. Nothing against folks who hunt for food, its perfectly acceptable, but D.B.7. was aptly titled by my buddy in the seat next to me. Go with your gut. 4) The Holdem tables at the casino have a huge wait list on weekends, so its rather good to stake out a cheap slot to have fun with while you wait, or bet the thirds at roullette.... 5) Vancouver, the Canucks and the Riverrock make for a great mini vacation, one that I will now do again and again every year...thinking of a six pack of tickets for next season already. 6) Finally, the sixth thing was that the out of town scoreboard showed the WIld over the Coyotes and i was like "Sweet, both my goalies have a shot at the postseason, but apparently there can be only one.".
  23. Sweet, Rangers are creeping up on Buffalo for 7th overall, nice nice nice. I am more on pins and needles about the Canucks needing these two points than about heading to the game, which I am on my way to in 5 more minutes...man I hope they can at least take one...but two points would be awesome right now. I still think Minnesota is catchable..they have the worst schedule imaginable and could conceivably come out with just 5 more points in total.
  24. Yikes, Casey Jones you betta watch your speed! Trouble ahead, trouble behind..and you know that notion just crossed my mind.
