  1. ^ I am glad you asked, TGC, errrr Bombastic. Coming right up!
  2. When you only have 4 players on the ice in a game night, you need every guy to contribute. With Eddie Lack yet to take the ice, we have 3 contributors already, and at least 15 points. Jay McClement picked up a rough 2 points on the dirty minor, but we will take them Sami Salo picks up a 5 point assist Ryan Malone registers 2 assists in an otherwise slow year, perhaps he is about to kick it up a notch down the stretch? Up Next: Eddie lack takes on a defeated Predator squad who certainly are out of the playoffs, while the Canucks are 'just about' out. Spoilers, or spoiled? Not too sure, but Vancouver has a chance in this game of very little offense, and that means we in New York could see 25 or more points from our four players, on the ice.
  3. I am pretty certain any game the evening of the 5th and onward with that trade, the points go to the acquiring team...i just had mine fixed too regarding either WInnick or McCelement, can't recall which, but it got backdated to the game on the 5th. Cheers, and thanks again for a smooth transaction. Edit, yeah we agreed to the deal at 11pm the fourth, so i think it takes effect concerning the games on the 5th.
  4. Pending LTIR request approval, Colton Sceviour will transition from his temporary defensive assignment, which brought him up last Friday from the minors, to the 4th line Center. The move will see Travis Moen move to 4th line Left Wing, replacing injured Jesse Joensuu who is expected to miss a month with a high ankle sprain. Thank you Curt. Lastly, Nick SPaling and Mark Stuart are still on my pending 2015 UFA/RFA's lists, and they are no longer with the club. Cheers.
  5. WHat a night for the Rangers already! Thomas Vanek with a hat trick, Travis Moen and Alexei Emelin with points also...iggy with another goal, Mez with points, you get a point, you get a point, everyone gets a point! This is nice.
  6. I peg the canucks at 85 points to end the year now. Not sure how that will fair against other teams, but we only have 3 games in the next 8 or nine days...so it will all be clearer by the end of that third game, as other teams use up their games in hand on us. I think it is weird our team could finish 6th worst, or with the final playoff spot...its so up in the air for me right now, but the odds are not good at all.
  7. The writing is on the wall now. With 11 games remaining and our percentages, there is a better chance of finishing with the 6th overall pick than with the last playoff spot. There are just too many teams with too many games in hand. Never say never though. It is still a possibility, albeit very very slight.
  8. Carolina still walkin the line...today they are back in the picture! 9. ^^ i am in no way laying it all on 'bad social media'. I am saying that in the complex and dynamic world of pro sports psychology, Booth would do better in a Carolina/Florida/Phoenix environment than a hockey crazy city like Vancouver. One could presume he will be bought out? This leaves the managment team with 16 million and not a lot of holes to fill...I smell some HUGE upgrades in the offseason. it is clearly not as easy as snapping the right lego pieces together or we would all be there in the big show.
  10. The Vancouver market is sooooooo fishbowl, it is easy to see how some guys like Ballard or Booth just can't flourish here. You make a mistake in Florida, no one even notices..you make a mistake in Vancouver and your a parriah until the next guy makes a mistake and takes the focus off you. It takes something more than hockey skills to thrive in the Vancouver system, and that takes a while to build into the team. It isn't nearly as bad as folks tend to think out loud. We didn't win a cup in '11, and a lot of folks are still 'rioting'. I still hope they make the cut, as tanking is for losers. Fight every game as though you have a chance and you just might have a chance.
  11. I hope they will be, and also think they will be, in the hunt still when the ducks come at the end of the month. I want the game i see live to mean something, win or lose. I am still excited about the team and the management, the speed wobble under the new CBA really affected the last year and a bit, clearly, but it is really in the past now and should the team actually enjoy some playoff time, that would rock. BUT if they miss this year, its okay too. You can not be in the playoffs every year for a decade, it doesn't work that way really in the parity age. I think they will slide in barely, find new life and air in the lungs by doing so and enjoy some post season to keep the streak going. Next year, I think we will see a better lineup all around.
  12. except that if that went in everything from the moment it didn't go in would be different. Have you learned nothing from any story ever where they change some random event in the past and suddenly praying mantis type overlords rule the earth?
  13. watch the game, really watch it, you will see what I am talking about.
  14. Things I like about tonights lineup: Matthias-kassian together, Lack, the defence, Higgins/Schroeder/Hansen line, things to watch and evaluate in real time. Should be a fun good game.
  15. Yes, the two greatest current franchises in the league can survive some injuries, but how does that relate to your inflated expectations of our team? "they are not top two in terms of total package, so fire the GM/coach/players? Or you can look at the 1/4 season where each of the top line players, Hand, Dank and Burr, were scoreless. How does the GM get the blame for not having a crystal ball that will tell him his best three players will stop scoring goals for a quarter of a season long..and then on top of that be injured for another 1/3rd of the season? The fact that we have an outside chance at a wildcard berth this year in the perfect storm of a tougher division, key injuries and yes in the aftermath of cleaning up the goaltending mess that AV created in the playoffs a few years ago, has me thinking MG is actually pretty smart, and unfortunately has to play it close to his chest so as to complete his standing makeover. Frankly, even if we don't get into the playoffs this year, it is an anomaly, an aberation, a one time miss that will set us up for future winning seasons. It is a great sign to me that we are so spoiled that one season out of 7 where we don't make the playoffs is deemed to be utter and complete failure by the fans. Go MG Go!
  16. Alex Burrows - Henrik Sedin - Nicklas Jensen Chris Higgins - Jordan Schroeder - Jannik Hansen David Booth - Shawn Matthias - Zack Kassian Tom Sestito - Zac Dalpe - Darren Archibald how on earth can anyone blame Torts for us being just below playoffs in the standings? Injuries kill.
  17. Iggy's 22nd and 23rd goals of the year, Backlund's 17th!!! and a Mike Smith WIN headlines our 47 point minimum tonight..likely over 50 and badly needed at that! Well done boys, on the scorecard and on the penalty minutes..get em where you can at this point eh?
  18. The party in Jacobs house has been accordingly downscaled. Puff Daddy will still perform in the living room, but Madonna's 'pussycat lounge' act in the kitchen has been downgraded to a quick flip around the streetlamp outside.
  19. Speaking of coming down to the final game of the year, the Carolina Hurricanes are 2 points out of a wild card spot....and battling hard for it, in what will come down to the final game of the year!!!
  20. Haha, yeah it was a phase i went through, experimenting with FC's..in the end they tend to be too complicated..but the basic ideas of each one were simple enough: if X then Y. The reason I occasionally post the outstanding situations is that in both these cases I evaluated the 'over under' conditions for the FC's....and as you can see I think I nailed it! a little too well...in that in both cases it could come down to the final game of the year to decide who 'wins' the FC.

  22. FC Watch: The Rangers are still living on the edge with some Future Considerations. If Jimmy Hayes does not play in all 15 remaining Florida Panthers games, the Rangers will get Minnesota's 2015 3rd round pick. This assumes Jack Skille won't be recalled from the minors this year. Over at the Chad Johnston front, If Chad plays in 30 NHL games between the start of the 2013 season, and the 13-14 season combined, then Colorado gets NYR's 3rd round pick in 2014. Chad has surprised most but not GM P.O. and played in an amazing 20 games so far this year with a 13-3-1 record. Add on his 4 games from last season, and wow: if he plays in another 6 games of roughly 16 remaining it is bye bye pick of mine. Intriguing turn of events!
  23. Recall: The New York Rangers recall Colton Sceviour who will fill in as an emergency defender for up to a week starting today.
  24. ^ worth the small time investment, great read!
