Wow, yeah, I missed 2 partial days and then a full day all in a row the week before last with a terrible chest cold/flu and its like I had to do 1.5days work each day after that to get caught up. Today I should be back in normal mode for a couple days at least before a wave of hardcore comes over.

How you feeling now anyways? recovered?

(((OOC on Shawn Mattias. The 26 year old, 220 pounder was a guy we looked at in NY, before trading him all the way to LA, but I still think that the system/city he was in was keeping him down. One thing we all generally share here in this pool is a love of the Vancouver Canucks..and one of the newest Canucks is a guy I have kept my eye on for two years, admittedly not that long. Shawn has 9g and 8 assists and is just minus 1 playing bottom six minutes generally in Florida in what I think was a misused situation. He came into the season talking about feeling ready to take on a leadership role, and never really got the support to do so from the team. I wouldn't call him a pure goal scorer, but he is a guy who generates chances. I don't think he is lazy defensively and he has had an outburst lately on offense. This is one 'moneypuck' player that I had pegged 18 months ago, that I think could be a difference maker here in Vancouvers final 16 matchups. I am glad they brought him in, and leaving the Lu drama behind, he may replace what we had in Malhotra going forward. Grats to whoever has his rights now, but in a simply reality sense: I am very happy to see him coming into the Canucks organization, albeit 4 months late for my purposes...haha

This was a tough one to decide to pull for us in New York. We were very aware of our pending tight fit on the blueline, making Robert Bortuzzo a bit of an odd man out this offseason, and Johan Larsson, we believe is going to be decent going forward. Patrick Bordeleau brought what we wanted this year and frankly all three guys have delivered or will deliver what we expected of them, but in our system of playoff brackets, I could not stand by and do nothing to improve our chances at making the second round. This trade was all about winning round one of our first playoff appearance and that is obvious to even the casual observer. THank you to Vancouver GM Cal & Gary's for a great dialogue and eventual deal and to our departing players who are not leaving for lack of performance, but as a consequence of the Rangers looking in good shape to make the playoffs. Now, in saying that, we are very happy to bring aboard Daniel Winnik, who has been on our wish list for a while as a bottom line acquisition, and Jay McClement is a very welcome addition to the team on the ice. Marek and Markus represent some potential to bolster the Connecticut Whale for the time being, and add to our pool of talent going forward. Thank you all.

Looks like we are staying at the River Rock, taking skytrain for my first ride since expo 86 and hitting the game early enough to look in the team store. then playing roulette till the weee hours with what would be enough cash to see Phoenix play, including airfaire...fml....why do i roll with this guy, he is sooo expensive.....lol. that is the ducks game on the 29th...anyone else going?

I don't know if I am more shocked at making that error, or that four GM's below you failed to put in a claim, but good on you for paying attn. EDIT: sometimes I can not brain, i has the dumb.
-
Yup, S.B., you got him fair and square, it is weird because I can't even say i was drunk..it was 7:15 am on the 4th when I waived him from LTIR? what a bad decision, lol. No grudges though, I will talk to Nashville in the offseason.
-
aww snap a week later..no wonder i forgot with all the deadline dramalamma...ah well, i will have to go look to refresh my memory, but I am sure your not wrong Squeak.
-
I can't find where I waived Philip Larsen, he was on LTIR up until this moment in time quoted above...and I do not recall waiving him? ANyone help me out here?
-
Yikes, While I am excited that Lack gets to be featured for the next 15 games or so, I was gearing up to meet you in the first round. Hopefully you can hang on to it, but yeah, sounds rough in injuryville.

All Right, A little help friends. My buddy and I are hitting up the Ducks game at the end of the month, it will be my first live Canucks Game since the early 80's when I was a kid!!!!! So, coming from the island by ferry, neither of us wants to drink and drive, so we are bus'ing to a hotel and then either cab bus or skytrain to the game and back. I am leaning towards the river rock...but I am looking for any suggestions? We want to have a good time, not be annoying at the game so drink later on more, and still have a safe night. Options? And if we go with the river rock casino, does SKytrain take us right to the game? If so what gate do i look for when we get off the train? Any insight and info welcome! P.S. Riverrock is a bit pricey for that night, so better priced option suggestions very welcome

Newcomer Jay McClement with an assist tonight! nice. ((OOC: Tonight I think we will all bear witness to a gelling moment with the canucks. I can feel a huge eruption coming in goals, and this could be our day to have it. I am not saying all the slumps will break, but I think it will be a special night with great outcomes. Back after the game. I am thrilled its on HNIC))

I know we need patience this week, but one of the men i brought on board at the deadline scored just his third goal of the season the very next night. New York needs those points! D.Winnik, you can hit 7 goals this year if you apply yourself within our system....go go go...

Scary stuff sometimes happens. Patrick Sieloff has been recouperating from a Staph infection since September 2013. He is getting some strength training in now, but it was very touch and go a few times for his life, let alone his career. In my own sports history a good time with a cheerleader on a team bus put me in the hospital with a ruptured spleen after i took a helmet to the gut while playing while having Mono. Damn you blonde cheerleader(call me!). I didn't know i had it at the time, just felt sick, but mononucleosis inflames your vital organs.

I miss Johan already....still not sure i can say i won that trade, but i improved my post season squad at the very least. Good looking group you have there.

I am glad something got worked out, and I wish you the best of luck in any round that your not facing me in. I hope it is round three where we meet up and I hope that is the end of your quest for this year. ; ) #therecanbeonlyone

The race is so tight in the 9/10/11 spots out west, you will likely find yourself one spot out of the playoffs by the end, well, any of the three of you could be, so it really is closer than it looks. one or two players can be the 3 or 4 hundred point difference

Assignment: The New York Rangers assign Connor Murphy to the Connecticut Whale, not waiver eligible. Activation from LTIR: The New York Rangers activate Philip Larsen from LTIR.

Now that we have passed the deadline, I have to say I was gearing up hard to survive the first round against Washington, but it could be anyone of four teams finishing anywhere from 2nd to 5th in the Metro Division! Just 113 points separate Pittsburgh and the Rangers, with Washington and Carolina wedged in the middle. Four teams, 113 points, three playoff spots. When the music stops, did I do enough to ensure I have a seat?

For Calgary and Carolina, the two teams that moved up a spot most recently, updated standings fresh from this morning. Carolina moved into a playoff spot, and it will be a dogfight to the end for those wildcard spots in the east, while out west Calgary moved down one spot in the draft order to 3rd, pending the lottery. It gets interesting at both ends from here on out. Great Work T.R. !! Looking at your squad now on pickup and you have a nice deep lineup, very well done! Grats. Now don't go getting another 103 points or anything..you don't want to overdo it, and top ten is over rated anyways...you wouldn't like it up here, its intense.

I am trying to stay completely out of the debate, but I do think a few points on each end of it are valid. The main thing I am posting about at the moment is that historically, I have always been on the side of the underdog, the bottom end teams, usually inherited by new GM's from GM's who moved on but left a team in the shambles...that has not changed, I am simply choosing to stay right out of this one. I don't know the details of the decision, and I don't think anyone does when negotiations take place in the media we all lose. That is all I have to say, other than to say: OTTS, I really enjoy playing with all 29 of you guys, including you, so stick around, heck you are out in front by 4%...no one is breaking your game..and Curt, your effort and time and general attempts at keeping the peace are very appreciated. Hopefully this is resolved at a closed door meeting, rather than in the feed. Cheers to all, commenting no comment, P.O.

With the trade deadline come and gone, the final jostling for position begins in earnest. here is the first standings post after the deadline with around 17 games remaining for most players! I have 13 dudes currently sitting in a playoff position, and another 2 to 4 on the bubble. I like where the Rangers are at compared to 7th from the bottom last year. I don't want to mess too much with a good thing, so I am sticking with my goalies, i have even odds on None, One or Two netminders making the playoffs at this point in time. Hahahaha.....yikes.

Vanek, Thornton, Iginla Hudler, Stajan, Michalek Malone, Backlund, Bourque Winnik, Moen, Bernier Joensuu, ......., McClement Sekera, Salo Meszaros, Muzzin Emelin, Klein Murphy Smith Lack This is the state of the union here in New York, sorry if beat the posts, but i think curt said he updated something and will post later? I am in the office and could be made interested in a goaltender for the playoffs. I think I have a goalie to trade back in return, so yeah, there is that. Fielding all offers, from a high seat.
